One boy . . .
One dragon . . .
A world of adventure.
When Eragon finds a polished blue stone in the forest, he thinks it is the lucky discovery of a poor farm boy; perhaps it will buy his family meat for the winter. But when the stone brings a dragon hatchling, Eragon soon realizes he has stumbled upon a legacy nearly as old as the Empire itself.
Overnight his simple life is shattered, and he is thrust into a perilous new world of destiny, magic, and power. With only an ancient sword and the advice of an old storyteller for guidance, Eragon and the fledgling dragon must navigate the dangerous terrain and dark enemies of an Empire ruled by a king whose evil knows no bounds.
Can Eragon take up the mantle of the legendary Dragon Riders? The fate of the Empire may rest in his hands. (Goodreads)
Review:
Eragon is a classic in fantasy writing. After all, Christopher Paolini wrote such a masterpiece when he was fifteen. Now he’s nearing thirty, but the magic of his work lives on. Simply put, everyone should read Eragon.
Eragon is probably one of my favorite characters in YA history. He’s arguably hot, but that doesn’t really matter. He is brave, cunning, kind, and perfect. Honestly, if I could marry him, I would. Eragon is just a legend to me. I wish he were real. Eragon is so, so perfect.
As for Arya, she kicks butt. End of story! Arya is who I aspire to be. She’s smart, wise, beautiful, mysterious, and unstoppable. I think she’s untouchable in the beginning, but she later warms up to Eragon. I love her.
The plot is magical. Dragons, magic, fantasy, action, adventure, coming-of-age, what more could a reader ask for? There is confirmation that Christopher Paolini can write. This is a plot to aspire for. Christopher Paolini is a freaking genius.
There are surprises. Plots are just awesome, but Paolini raises it a level.
As for the collector’s edition, IT’S SO FREAKING BEAUTIFUL AND MAGICAL. Honestly, the price tag is worth it in my opinion. It’s just so classic.
