Review:

Right from the get go, I was laughing and engaged with Double Mint!  A hilariously funny cozy mystery ☺ Seriously though, could Gretchen Archer’s writing grab me any better? I think not! One of my new favorite authors!  Starting this series at book 4 was not a problem…enough back story was told so that I caught up quickly enough with who the main characters were. The sense of humor really (I mean REALLY) grabbed me – as can be seen by the bit of dialogue from Davis:

 

“I’ve slept with animals before (I was married to the same ape twice before Bradley, a long story I don’t want to tell)…”

 

The players:  Davis Way Cole is a redhead, a newlywed, and the lead investigator on an undercover team (with partners Fantasy Erb and Baylor, just Baylor – like Batman) for the Bellissimo Resort and Casine in Biloxi, Mississippi.  Davis is married to Bradley Cole – the casino’s general manager.

Davis describing a specific piece of equipment from her Super Secret Spy bag – brought a chuckle to this reader with respect to where she picked up this handy tool…:

 

“…my Quik-Piks, a set of universal bump keys.  The only doors I can’t get in with my Quik-Piks are cockpit, White House, and my mother’s. (She’s onto me.)  Where did I get this amazing tool?  Amazon”

 

And the secret of the cat (who’s cat is it anyways ???) continued on until the end…loved it!  Throughout the crime solving antics of Davis and her team, I was entertained by her sheer tenacity.  She had an idea and would not let it go.  The lengths she went to prove (whether rightly or not) her theories were entertaining.  There were plenty of twists and turns which kept me guessing until the end.

The plot includes platinum, counter-fitting, bank robbers, organ transplants and that darned refrigerator.  Luckily, this will all be revealed when you read this hilarious cozy mystery!  I loved Gretchen Archer’s fast-paced storytelling.  She injected plenty of witty humor along with an intriguing mystery.  I am sure to go back to book one and start the series from scratch!
