Kat doesn’t believe in love. Her own father cheated on their mother and just about every guy she’s dated ends up cheating sooner or later. That’s why it shouldn’t have been a big surprise when she discovered her latest boyfriend has been cheating on her.
In a moment of weakness she calls into a radio show and talks to the “Love Whisperer” about Kevin’s cheating ways. Surprisingly Derrick (the love whisperer) asks her to hold on the line and talks to her off air as well and even asks her to call him back to let him know how things go after she breaks things off with Kevin.
After much debate, she does call him back and things get rather steamy between her and Derrick. Eventually they work up to seeing each other and they just can’t get enough of each other.
Derrick’s parents had a storybook romance until his mom passed away. His father refuses to date since he’s already had the love of his life. Derrick wants to find the kind of love his parents had, but nobody even comes close to being the one until his Kitty Kat comes barreling into his life.
However, right when things seem like they can’t get any better, outside forces could cause it all to come crashing down in heartbreaking fashion.
I went into this book, not expecting much more than a steamy read. And, the beginning of this story was pretty much what I expected. I thought both Kat and especially Derrick where a bit forward in their first few phone conversations for people that had never even met in person or really knew each other. But once the romance started to develop, I really enjoyed this story. And I loved the fun banter between Kat and Derrick and the sexy times too.
“Listen babe, I’m thinking, if you want to stay the weekend, bring some more stuff over. You know, just in case you want to stay longer or something.”
I smile. “Careful there, love. You’re going to regret it when I bring in a hundred pairs of shoes and take over your closet.”
“You don’t have a hundred pairs of shoes.”
I laugh, mockingly evil. “Bwahaha, after this app hits number one and I get gamer coding bankroll, I might go shoe shopping!”
Derrick laughs. “Add in a couple more pairs of fuck-me pumps, and I’m happy. You can wear them while I make you scream my name in ecstasy.”
I thought Derrick was a pretty fun guy, pervy at times for sure, but what guy isn’t? At least he’s honest about it and only a pervert for Kat! I was surprised just how loyal he was considering his occupation is talking about sex all the time. And, his advice to his listeners was actually pretty down-to-earth.
I knew that a certain person was going to cause them problems though, I just didn’t expect them to be so bold in their actions. I think that Kat forgave Derrick a little too quickly though. Yes, he didn’t do what everyone thought, but he didn’t have to do much convincing for her to forgive him. I would have been a bit more skeptical if I had been Kat, I guess. I expected her to be doubtful as well considering her stance on love.
Overall, I really enjoyed this story and plan to read more from this author. The ebook I received of this book also included another of her titles, Motorhead, that I just might have to read and review later.
