As a Seer, Mila O’Fallen is one of the last humans capable of channeling visions of the past and future. The one thing she can’t see is her own fate, but she knows it’s grim. All types of ruthless, supernatural creatures want to use her abilities, and they will do anything to gain access to her powers. When vampires descend upon her, it looks like the end-until a formidable figure appears. She feels a connection to him that is instant, unearthly, and explosive.
Grim reaper Frenzy never thought he would see the eyes of his lover again. She was murdered centuries ago, but her amber eyes are alive in Mila. Though it’s not his job to protect humanity, something tells him protecting this human is what he was born to do. Yet vampires are the least of their worries. Frenzy and Mila quickly learn that a dark force is matching their every step. And even as they crave each other, the darkness craves them . . .
Review:
First of all I liked the name Frenzy. At first the character is mostly a jerk, but we see later that it’s just a mask to keep people away, to not feel a thing, and survive the changing world. I liked his power of death. Most of all I like the effect he gave his shirt; breathing death to it, making everything that looks at it die. The Grim Reaper’s powers are always appealing.
With little knowledge of the first book in the series, I don’t know if Lise appears in it, but being a character in this story she immediately became my favorite: a powerful one. I liked that the author made The Morrígan the queen of the light fae; if she looks and acts evil, imagine how the ruler of the dark fae will act. Power corrupts both sides. I think that the Morrígan is well described; her hair, her eyes, and cloths. I would have liked to have seen more of her consort Dadga.
This book in particularly caught my attention for its Grim Reaper, but the story has interesting moments, characters, places and powers. That a werewolf cannot heal because he is a lone wolf was unexpected but I think that he knows more than what he is telling. Then there is Darkness with eyes that she stole, that see and want to see more, making her greedy and hungry for power. And a world that knows of the existence of Others and doesn’t know what to do with them. These concepts I found interesting.
Death’s Redemption has some sex scenes, which I felt that were placed to lead to the point where they let go and give in to desire. I would have liked to have known more about the Others in that world. I kind of like the word Shampi for the hybrid of a Shifter and Vampire. I would also have liked to see Mila use more of her power as a Seer or the Darkness using the power of a seer.
If you like reading something different than vampires fighting werewolves, I recommend you to read Death’s Redemption that involves Grim Reapers, Seers and Fae. Would you like to be Grim Reaper or a Seer? Tell us in the comments.
