What if Cher Horowitz had been a vampire living in New York City instead of a well-intentioned Beverly Hills fashionista? As if! No, seriously. Amy Heckerling, the writer-director of the beloved 1995 film “Clueless” is the latest to sink her teeth into the genre with a new romantic comedy called “Vamps.”
ScreenDaily.com is reporting that the film is “a modern-day tale of two young female vampires living the good life in New York until love enters the picture and each has to make a choice that will jeopardise their immortality.” Krysten Ritter (“Breaking Bad,” “Confessions of a Shopaholic”) has been cast in one of the roles, meaning it’s time to take a seat on the Hollywood Crush Casting Couch to find her bloodsucking bestie.

I don’t know if it’s possible, but one could say that Vampires could be close to ‘jumping the shark’. Vampires have always retained their evil goodness by NOT infiltrating every avenue of entertainment all at once. Back when ‘Love at First Bite” was released, Vampires weren’t as common place as they are now. Plus, Vampires were seen as such an evil beast at the time (1979), having a film show a comedic side was a breathe of fresh air for the genre. Will it work the same way today?
