Anita has had a rough life, having a mother that couldn’t get her shit together, which led to her living on her own on the street and then later being bounced from one foster home to the next. Until she ended up in the Evans household that is. But Anita and their adopted son Bram butted heads from the beginning. They’re both adults now and nothing has really changed. They live to goad each other. Until one night their usual combative nature brings out a passion they never expected. They try to forget it ever happened, but they keep coming back for more and eventually embark on a secret relationship instead. But eventually the family figures out what is going on between the two and they can finally be open about their relationship, which is freeing. However, it’s short-lived.
Ani’s screw-up of a mother had more kids after Ani was taken away. She’d like to think her mom finally got it together. But when her 15 year old sister finds herself pregnant she realizes that’s not the case. Bethy asks Ani to take the baby, and since Ani can no longer have children of her own, she agrees.
Bram is scarred by happenings of his own childhood. And after seeing what his birth mother went through when she lost a baby, he has decided to never have kids. The fact that Ani can’t conceive is one of the best things about their relationship, in his mind. However, it all comes crashing down when she makes the announcement that she’s adopting her sister’s baby. He decides then and there that he must end things with Ani. A decision that breaks both their hearts.
Oh my gosh! I LOVED this book! I honestly didn’t think anything could top the first book, Unbreak My Heart. But I was so incredibly wrong! This book had me bawling like a crazy person. My husband, who doesn’t really ‘get’ reading must have thought I was insane! But Henry completely broke my heart. I can’t say more than that as it will give too much away and you NEED to read this book! I’m an emotional reader, I love books that can pull such feelings and reactions out of me and author Nicole Jacquelyn is proving she’s a master at it!
I loved Bram, and while I understood his hang-up, I thought it was a little overkill. But …. Ani definitely didn’t make things easy on him! I think she was a bit harder than necessary when Bram was trying to do right by her and the baby.
But my goodness I love this series, which does have a name now, Fostering Love. I can’t wait for the next book, which I can only assume will be about Trev. And, we’ll find out more about what Henry did, I’m sure!
If you live for emotional reads like me, it’s not an option, you have to read this series. It’s nothing short of amazing!
