The Plot:

Set in the small town of Mystic Falls, Virginia, The Vampire Diaries revolves around a stereotypically tragic young heroine named Elena, who enrolls at Mystic Falls High School where she meets another new kid named Stefan, unaware that he’s a vampire. There’s instant chemistry between Elena and Stefan but their budding relationship hits a roadblock when Stefan’s older brother, Damon, shows up in town to wreak havoc…and eventually claim Elena for himself.

Episode 1 – “The Pilot”

The season opener begins with a couple navigating an abandoned country road whose romantic banter is interrupted when a fog rolls over and crumpled body drops to the ground. The figure in the fog is, of course, a vampire, and the couple his next meal. After the discovery of the two Mystic Falls residents who have been murdered, the local news reports animal attack as the cause of deaths, though we know better that it’s something else.

I don’t recnognize most of the cast names except for the larger parts. But the pilot episode seems pretty true to the book.

I read and pretty much liked the Vampire Diaries but I thought the last book wasn’t that good. That said, I will tune in for the first few episodes. Who knows, maybe I’ll get hooked. The pilot is barely a month away at this point.
