Sea Lion Books announces Anne Elizabeth, the Adapter of International Bestseller Anne Rice’s Christ The Lord: The Road to Cana novel into graphic form and will also be completing her own series with SLB. Anne Elizabeth is a comic creator, romance author, and columnist and in addition to being the adapter on Rice’s project has a new book releasing in October. Dynamite Entertainment produced the first volume, PULSE OF POWER, andSea Lion Books bought the rights to the remaining seven books of the PULSE series.
THE PENDULUM (Book II) will have an advance release for fans and attendees of the New York Comic Con in October 2011. “This is a hometown convention for me. I grew up in the Greenwich, CT and spent my teen years exploring the New York City area,” said Anne Elizabeth. The graphic novel features artwork by Siya Oum, who is also part of the Rice adaptation team, and editing by former DC Editor and Award-Winning Author Alisa Kwitney.
In THE PENDULUM, Anne Elizabeth takes her heroine, Tia Stanton on an off-world journey. With the gift of tremendous magical power, Tia’s life has become more complicated in this second graphic novel. Our heroine is at a serious turning point. No longer just a stock girl by day at Vivant “the sentient supernatural store“ or a monster-hunting vigilante at night, Tia is facing an alien civil war. Difficult choices force Tia to choose a side, but it is crucial that she also takes action; ones that she can survive. “Power up! Destiny is a choice.”
The idea for the PULSE series began back in AE’s high school days, “I couldn’t let go of the characters; their determination, wants, and needs are very real to me. It’s been a tremendous joy to see the stories come to life in graphic novels. The teenager in me cannot stop grinning.” Written for both teens and adults, there will be six more books in the coming years to complete the series. Anne Elizabeth
said, “I’m thrilled to be working with Sea Lion Books. They produce wonderful comics and graphic novels! They are mini-magnificent works of art that stand the test of time.”
“We are extremely thrilled to bring THE PENDULUM, the next volume of Anne Elizabeth’s PULSE series, to the graphic novel market,” said Derek Ruiz, Executive Vice President, and Publisher of Sea Lion Books. “Our partnership with AE is another step in the right direction for Sea Lion Books with our continued desire to bring the best of the best to the graphic novel market.”
