Review:
Kimberly Bell has written a delightful Scottish historical romance. Although part of the Countess Scandal Series the book stands alone. At no time did I feel I was missing something. Knowing now it is part of a series I will likely pick up the others.
The story is well written, with complexity to the plot and well developed and charming characters placed in a rugged Scottish setting. Throw in Scottish wit and banter, mystery, suspense, passion and of course romance and the reader has a book that is hard to put down. The story is fast paced, action packed with lots of twists and turns and shows the reader the hardships of finding love in a hostile and unpredictable setting. Trust and family bonds become paramount to individual survival. Deidre and Ewan must learn that love although passionate is not always enough and must find forgiveness and acceptance to heal. The secondary characters of Ewan’s godfather Angus and Deidre’s younger brother Tristan are truly delightful.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of Highlanders and Scottish romance. I mean who wouldn’t love a hot sexy Highlander paired with a damsel in distress!
