She is pierced, dyed and tattooed, born on the wrong side of the tracks. He is a traditional white knight born of the proverbial silver spoon. Their meeting was an accident, the fact that they became even the most tentative of friends, an anomaly. The only real thing they had in common… chemistry. Lots of chemistry. Unfortunately, that wasn’t enough and Gia knew it. Now, if only she could convince her body…
Josh had always walked the line, lived the life he was expected to live. He had, by all accounts, the perfect life; a corporate lawyer, a beautiful home, a family empire to run, and the perfect fiancee. He was well on his way. The only question he had… was that really where he wanted to go? Plagued by dreams, Josh fought all his natural instincts, denying not only what he truly wanted but who he was deep down inside. Until one crazy night when he gave in to his desires…
Could these two polar opposites have more in common than even they realize?
Review:
Gia has harbored a secret crush on Josh for quite a while. They hang out with the same friends every week and she has always been able to control her feelings. Josh is, after all, engaged to one of her best friends and Gia is in the wedding party! She tries to hide her feelings behind her sharp wit and snark because she knows that they will never be together. But when Josh shows up at her tattoo parlor requesting that she ink him, all of her good intentions fly right out the proverbial window.
“She had always known there was a lot hidden beneath his shiny, polished, lawyer veneer. Now, she was starting to wonder just exactly how much he really buried in that perfect, all American image of his. He seemed so… different, lately. More demanding. Stronger. More controlling. More… dominant. And, God help her, she loved it.”
Josh’s image is that of the perfect stuffed shirt lawyer. He is engaged to the perfect girl, has the perfect job and plays tennis at the perfect country club. There is a growing part of him that rebels against all of that and he is going to embrace it – and his desire for Gia. Will they ever have a chance at being together or will all of the differences between them get in the way?
“If he were honest with himself, he simply loved Gia. All of her. Her sweet personality, her loyalty, her sarcastic sense of humor, even when it was at his expense. Her openness tonight, her willingness to give herself to him completely had broken through more than just a sexual barrier for him. She was more than he could have possibly dreamed. He was head over heels, crazy stupid in love with her. He wanted to shout it to the world. And he was supposed to keep it to himself.”
Hidden Depths is definitely a steamy romance. The chemistry between Josh and Gia made the love scenes sizzle on the page. Although there were times when I just wanted to shake some sense into Gia, she was still a really unique heroine and Josh was a totally swoon worthy hero. After all, what girl could resist an attorney in combat boots?
