Neil Gaiman: Literary Rock Star and Me
Let’s be honest, there’s really not much I can say about Neil Gaiman that hasn’t already been said by someone else, somewhere else. So instead of wasting time heaping praise upon the literary world’s first iconic “rock star,” I’ll simply recount my two encounters with the widely read author and then I’ll let Gaiman speak for himself.
Dragon Keeper by Robin Hobb
Synopsis:
The dragons who emerged from their cocoons along the Rain Wilds River were not exactly the fearsome creatures of legend hoped for by many, so a ragtag group of outcasts and misfits are hired to escort them upriver, ostensibly to find a legendary dragon city–if any of them survive.
Review:
It was SO much fun to return to the world of the Liveship Traders series, which was my favorite of Robin Hobb’s three Six Duchies trilogies. I’m aching to reread all of them again, to relive the adventure and romance and magic of what I think are the best-written epic fantasy books of all time.
Divine By Mistake
PC Cast’s Goddess of Partholon series is to be published in the UK for the first time at the beginning of 2010.
Written before her bestselling House of Night series (which so far has sold over 1 million in the UK) the Goddess of Partholon trilogy contains Cast’s favourite character, the sexy centaur ClanFintan and is a chance for adult readers to enjoy her writing.
When the Goddess of Partholon series was first published in the US it was awarded the Prism, Holt Medallion and Laurel Wreath awards and was also shortlisted for the National Readers’ Choice Award.
The Goddess of Partholon series starts with Divine by Mistake where feisty redhead and 35-year-old Oklahoma school teacher Shannon Parker is unexpectedly sucked through a fiery portal into the paranormal world of Partholon.
Dragon Keeper sounds like a fun book. I will have to check it out.
I had never heard of PC Cast’s Divine by Mistake series. It sounds interesting and since I already like House of Night, I figure I might like these too.
What do you think? Will you read Dragon Keeper? Have you read Diving by Mistake? If so, how was it?
