Robert Pattinson Reflects On Success of Twilight

from mtv.com:

A long time ago, in a faraway land (OK, maybe it was just Portland), the stars of the “Twilight” series were nobodies. Hopes weren’t terribly high when that girl from “The Messengers,” Mike Dexter from “Can’t Hardly Wait” and the kid who died in the “Harry Potter” movies came together to shoot Stephenie Meyer’s first novel.

But as the “Saga” stars dominated another MTV awards show this weekend, Robert Pattinson couldn’t help but marvel at how far they’ve come.

“It’s crazy,” the spiky-haired superstar marveled at the MTV Movie Awards, looking back on simpler times. “For it to have accelerated so quickly.”

Stephenie Meyer: Why Fans Should Read Bree Tanner Before Seeing “Eclipse”

from people.com:

Before rushing to see Eclipse, Meyer says Twi-Hards might enjoy reading The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: An Eclipse Novella, the fifth installment, which follows one of Eclipse’s newborn vampires.

“Knowing that elements of Bree’s story were being incorporated into Eclipse, I hoped the story could somehow get out first,” she says about the 192-page spin-off hitting bookstore shelves on Saturday. (It will also be available for free online at breetanner.com from June 7 to July 5).

Interview With Wolfpack Member Chaske Spencer

from innerwestcourier.com:

Like the other members of Stephenie Meyer’s wolf pack, Spencer is a Native American (or First Nation descendant) who harkens from the Lakota Sioux tribe.

Spencer said that he initially auditioned for all the wolfpack characters, except for Jacob.

“I really enjoy playing Sam, but I’m really not like him at all, however I do find pieces of him that I can relate to though.”

He said that in the Eclipse movie the werewolves join forces with the vampires, so fans can be in for a whole lot of action.

MTV: Xavier Roberts Ready for Twilight Phenomenon

from mtv.com:

With the premiere of “Eclipse” just 23 days away (!!!), the Australian heartthrob explained that it’s “kind of hard to know what to expect” when dealing with a global phenomenon like the aforementioned franchise. Though he joked, “I haven’t been given a guidebook or anything.” (Hint hint: maybe some enterprising fan out there should make him one!)

Even though he was thrown into the “Twilight” craze without much direction, Xavier, who plays Riley (Victoria’s faithful servant and head of the newborn army) is doing more than just fine! He seemed comfortable on the red carpet and talked with ease. The actor obviously knows how to dive right in, and he added, “if I keep my head down I think I’ll be OK.”

Robert Pattinson Compares “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” To Horror Film

from mtv.com:

“It’s like… serious,” he continued. “All of the… fight scenes that are in ‘New Moon’, they’re like real fights now. Not fantasy things. It’s like a horror film.”

“Eclipse” is of course directed by David Slade, the man who also helmed “30 Days of Night” and “Hard Candy.”

This is a guy who knows how to unsettle, and who knows how to make vampires scary. “Eclipse” is undoubtedly going to toe some sort of line; the fans simply wouldn’t allow for a proper horror movie to happen, nor do I think Meyer’s story would support such a genre shift. Still, it’s encouraging to hear that Slade’s dark magic has somehow left an impression on the popular vampire franchise.

Robert Pattinson Talks About Best Kiss Acceptance Kiss

Robert Pattinson talks to MTV at Sunday’s award show about practicing the on-stage kiss to go along with the acceptance of the Best Kiss award with co-star Kristen Stewart.

Have you purchased your copy of the new soundtrack yet?  Did you get a chance to listen to the free streaming last week?  I just downloaded my copy and it’s got a distinctly different sound than the super-emo “New Moon” one.  This one might rival the one for “Twilight”.  There’s some really good stuff on it! I’m already addicted to the tracks by Metric and Cee Lo Green.

I really hope that Robert’s assessment of “Eclipse” being like a horror movie is somewhat true.  Judging from the clips we’ve seen of the newborn vampires coming out of the water, that could be an accurate depiction.  While I’m looking forward to the sweet, romantic stuff between Bella and Edward, I really do want to be able to feel the tension and the fear over the newborns.
