Nikki Reed and Paul McDonald

In case you missed Nikki on the red carpet at the MTV Movie Awards sporting her engagement ring from American Idol singer Paul McDonald, the couple is engaged.  No details as to when the nuptials will be held are available as of yet.

Congratulations to the happy couple!

“New Moon” director Chris Weitz premiered his latest film at the LA Film Festival with his “New Moon” supporting him on the red carpet.  In a recent interview he talked about his evolution from films like “American Pie” to “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” to his latest endeavor.

I’ve not exactly made my bread from this sort of movie. I started with pie-molestation and proceeded through a CGI-talking-animal phase with The Golden Compass before I rode the teen-vampire wave to box-office hypertrophy with The Twilight Saga: New Moon.

The film, a far cry from his popular teen films, is about an undocumented immigrant and his teenage son in Los Angeles.  The film’s IMDb page summarizes the plot as follows:

A gardener in East L.A. struggles to keep his son away from gangs and immigration agents while trying to give his son the opportunities he never had.

What do you think of Chris Weitz new film?  It definitely breaks the mold of his previous body of work.  Is this something that you might go to see?

Check out this ring currently available for purchase on QVC and see if you think that it could be an interpretation of Bella’s engagement ring from Breaking Dawn.

While this may not be marketed as a “Bella engagement ring”, it certainly does have that sort of style to it.  Honestly, this is one of the best interpretations that I’ve seen.  (I’ve not been shy about saying that I was not a fan of the ring used in “Eclipse”.)  What do you think?  Do you want one for yourself?  If you’re already married, it would make a nice right-hand ring.

Kellan Lutz recently spoke with Hollywood Life and shared a little bit of insight as to how things were on the set of the “Breaking Dawn” wedding.   It was quite cold and wet on the set in British Columbia during shooting and had the following to say:

“Very miserable for the females who didn’t have heaters by them. But it was beautiful. It was beautiful; the set designer did an amazing job. The fans will really enjoy seeing it.”

Kellan was also recently spotted on the set of the film that he’s currently working on, “Syrup”.   Kellan is seen wearing a suit and looking quite professional (much like how fans are currently seeing co-star Robert Pattinson on the set of “Cosmopolis”).  He stars alongside Amber Heard, Brittany Snow, Kirstie Alley, and Shiloh Fernandez in the film about two twenty-somethings trying to make it to the top of the soda industry’s corporate ladder.

I love learning little tidbits about how things were on the set of a movie because they are often quite different from what we end up seeing on the screen.  Would you have guessed from the images that we saw in the trailer that it was pouring rain on Bella and Edward’s wedding day?   I’m sure that the production crew did an amazing job with tents and tarps and heaters and everything else to keep things moving along without a hitch.  I can’t wait until November to see it in it’s big-screen glory!

I find Rob and Kellan’s current movie role selections very interesting in how similar they are.  What do you think?

If you need some Edward and/or Jacob eye-candy for your wall starting with the new year, you can go ahead and pre-order your 2012 “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1″ 16-month wall calendar.  The cover features Edward, Bella, and Jacob on the cover.

Will you be purchasing a calendar for yourself or someone else?

Jackson Rathbone has a new role in a web series premiering on August 1 called “Aim High”.  Jackson will play a high-schooler named Nick Green who works as a spy for the U.S. Government when he’s not tied up with schoolwork.   He recently spoke with Entertainment Weekly about the role and why a high-schooler as a spy would be a good idea:

“He’s young, he’s fit, and he’s still kind of at that age where the idea of morality is still a little bit bendable. At the end of the day, he’s malleable. He can be taught, he can learn quickly, and it’s also the idea of the teenager — especially the modern teenager — being able to focus on so many different things at once. Nowadays you have the iPads and the iPhones and computers and all this kind of stuff, and kids are so amazing at multi-tasking. I think that’s what makes an amazing field operative, someone that can do one thing while doing 20 other things at the same time. If you can’t focus on whatever is right in front of you and everything else going on around you, you probably would be a terrible operative.”

Check out the trailer at and visit the series’ official Facebook page

I have to say that I am very intrigued by the trailer.  I was surprised to see Rebecca Mader (Charlotte Lewis from “Lost”) in there as well.  I think that it’s funny that he’s playing yet another high school student, but it looks really intriguing and I’ll probably check it out at least once.    What do you think of Jackson’s role in this series?   Will you be giving it a shot?
