TWILIGHT SAGA NEWS FOR APRIL 13TH: BREAKING DAWN, PETER FACINELLI, BLUE OCTOBER, AND MORE

DO YOU WANT AN R-RATED “BREAKING DAWN”?

Do you feel like the “Breaking Dawn” movie(s) deserve(s) an R rating instead of the PG-13 rating that it will most likely have?  If so, check out this online petition that states:

We, the undersigned fans of the The Twilight Saga, would like to petition the director of the final chapter in the Saga, Breaking Dawn, to reconsider rating the movie PG-13.

It is understood that not only is Breaking Dawn rated R in the book, the director should produce a film that mirrors it’s book in original form that is greatly loved by females (and some males) all over the world. Losing major details of the movie will definitely hurt the release of Breaking Dawn and disappoint fans everywhere.

Please director & the powers that be at Summit Entertainment, reconsider and let the incredibly creative and talented Stephanie Meyer continue her story as told in the book.

Save Breaking Dawn!

BLUE OCTOBER – FANS OF STEPHENIE MEYER, BUT NOT HER MANAGEMENT

from blastmagazine.com:

Rumors circulated last year that Blue October, who toured with Meyer, would have a song on one of the Twilight soundtracks. But it never came to pass, and the reasons behind it remained a mystery.

“Me and Stephenie Meyer are great friends,” Furstenfeld said. “I hate her camp, but I love her. Stephenie Meyer had the balls to take me to dinner…she said, ‘I wanna put your songs in my movies…’ and I was like, ‘Wow. That’s my dream — let’s do it.’ First movie comes out, no song. Second movie comes out, no song. Her management was like, ‘Everything we told you was a lie.’”

DAVID SLADE DELETES TWEET ABOUT NEW TRAILER FOR “ECLIPSE”

from examiner.com:

Eclipse director David Slade recently shared some details about the newest Eclipse trailer (not yet released) via his Twitter account saying:

and wow I saw an amazing rough cut of a new trailer, but I am not allowed to talk about that. So if you read this tweet, I deny I tweeted.

And if you were interested in seeing Slade’s tweet for yourself, you can’t because a short while later Slade deleted his post…how mysterious.

So, will you be signing the petition for “Breaking Dawn” to have an R rating?  I honestly think that it’s completely pointless.  For one thing, Stephenie Meyer has never seen a rated-R movie; and, lest we forget, the suits at Summit will NEVER allow the alienation of an entire demographic of tweens and young teens because there is too much money at stake for them to lose if that happens.  I honestly believe that, with the right director and editorial team, a PG-13 movie can still allow the book to be well-represented on the big screen.  Do we really need to see Bella and Edward writhing around on Isle Esme?  We didn’t get the play-by-play of what happened in the books and had to use our imaginations.  I honestly would rather let my imagination get to run away in the movie as well.  I’d hate for some director’s idea of what happens ruin what I crafted in my own head.  The birth of Renesmee can also be done with strategic maneuvers of the camera, sound effects, and a minimal amount of gore.  Do we really want to see Bella’s guts everywhere as Edward delivers the baby?  I, for one, don’t.  That’s another great example of where less is more for me.

It sucks that Blue October seems to be getting the shaft when it comes to the movie soundtracks.  Maybe they can get some representation on “Eclipse” or “Breaking Dawn”.  Like Muse, their music really helped to inspire what Stephenie put to paper.  I, for one, feel like the folks taking it from paper to celluloid should show a little respect for the origin of the inspiration.  Check out Stephenie Meyer’s playlists on her website and you’ll get an idea of where their songs fit the stories:

Twilight

New Moon

Eclipse

Breaking Dawn

What do you think of David Slade’s tweet?  Hmmmm…interesting that they’re keeping it hush-hush.  It’s not like we don’t know that they’re working on the film and new trailers as the release date gets closer.
