Meet Celaena Sardothien.

Beautiful. Deadly. Destined for greatness.

In the dark, filthy salt mines of Endovier, an eighteen-year-old girl is serving a life sentence. She is a trained assassin, the best of her kind, but she made a fatal mistake: she got caught.

Young Captain Westfall offers her a deal: her freedom in return for one huge sacrifice. Celaena must represent the prince in a to-the-death tournament—fighting the most gifted thieves and assassins in the land. Live or die, Celaena will be free. Win or lose, she is about to discover her true destiny. But will her assassin’s heart be melted? (Goodreads)

Obviously, this book is a pretty epic read. But it’s even more epic to rate the covers! Do judge this book by its cover, but don’t be surprised if it’s even better than the cover!

United States

I was so awestruck by this cover that I started drawing it, well after I finished my intense drooling session. Celaena truly pops against the blue background. I love the detail put into her.

United States #2

This is a really new cover, and I’m pretty into it. It’s so bad girl and dark and gorgeous. Honestly, Celaena is giving off total warrior vibes, and I think that’s so her. Boys, you better watch out. There’s a new master in town.

Spain

What strikes me the most about this Spanish cover is the simplicity of it. The crystals against a black background, the coloring with just blue and black, and the elegant font mesh into this striking cover. Although the translation seems to be “the crystal throne”, if I’m not mistaken, I still love this cover.

Turkey

I find this cover too complicated. There’s too much to look at; what should I look at first? My eye is really distracted by all these mini images. Plus, covering up one of Celaena’s eyes so does not work.

Germany

I’m accustomed to the beautiful Celaena on the American cover, so this girl looks totally different. I can’t get used to it. The background blue is too happy for my taste. However, I do love the gold font.
