the-beast-j-r-wardI have read this series since one of my dear friends got me hooked on it several years ago.  And, of all of the brothers, Rhage, was instantly my favorite!  Needless to say, I was pretty stoked for another book about Hollywood!

Now, I expected this to be a book where Rhage’s shellan, Mary, wanted to have a baby, even though her cancer left her infertile.  You know … since the couples are starting to have families now.  Imagine my surprise when I started reading this book and discovered that RHAGE was the one wanting to have a baby!  The scene with him and L.W. was pretty heartbreaking.  Holding a little baby and knowing that he would never have one of his own. *sniff*

There isn’t a lot to write about the plot of the book in this review.  It’s primarily about Rhage wanting to be a dad.  As much as I have always loved Rhage, the question I have for you is … could anything make me love him any more than I already did?  This book answers that question loud and clear.  YES!!  Seeing him in daddy mode made my heart for him grow at least ten times more.  Not to mention made my uterus weep for him.

Mary has been working hard at Safe Place, trying to get young Bitty to open up after the death of her mahmen.  But, despite her efforts, she seems to be going nowhere with the little girl.  That is until she has Rhage accompany them to Bitty’s home, for safety of course!  Imagine her surprise when Bitty and Rhage hit it off and she sees a completely different side to both of them!  I absolutely loved seeing this side of Rhage!  It was just too darn sweet.  I don’t think it’s possible for me to love Rhage anymore than I do now …. although I thought that before so who knows?

“Rhage! You have a dragon! A pet dragon! I got to rub his tummy!”

This book had a few side stories, but not nearly as many as we’re used to in these later books of the series.  Assail is working for the King and Brotherhood to try to figure out what is going on with the glymera, while dealing with his heavy cocaine addiction and missing his Marisol, who can’t be near him and his drugs.

We see Xcor. And, Layla’s difficult pregnancy finally comes to an end (good or bad?  You will have to read to find out!) and we get news about the Scribe Virgin.

This is an entertaining read that I absolutely loved!  I can’t wait for the next book in the series to see what happens next!
