A Preview of The Vampire Diaries Episode 15, A Few Good Men

We’re just a little over two weeks away from the return of The Vampire Diaries from its winter hiatus on March 25th, and to help fill the time between now and then, The CW has provided a slew of stills from the upcoming Episode 15, entitled “A Few Good Men”.

A brief synopsis of the ep is as follows: Matt is shocked by the sudden reappearance of his mother (guest star Melinda Clarke). Meanwhile, Stefan and Elena are worried about Damon’s state of mind following the news he received about Katherine. Also, Damon is asked by Sheriff Forbes to take part in a fund-raising bachelor auction. Elsewhere, Alaric discovers shocking secrets from his own past.

‘Vampire Diaries’: Producer Julie Plec on Katherine’s whereabouts, Damon’s devastation, Grams’ death

Julie, however, gave us the tease we were looking for (which will have us tuning in every Thursday from March 25th ’til forever): “Katherine is not only alive, but she is off and harlot-ing it up somewhere. Last seen in Chicago, she’s probably in Bora Bora right now. She’s kind of a little slut if you think about it.”

Plec promised a lot more of Nina Dobrev onscreen as the naughty Katherine.

Meanwhile, Stefan and Elena’s relationship will hit a serious bump in the road, which won’t go unnoticed by Damon. “[It is] a nearly relationship-ending rough patch that they’re both going to have to fight their way back from,” says Plec. “And of course there’s Damon — mourning the loss of his evil, naughty minx Katherine who doesn’t give a damn about him — right there, maybe realizing that he’s got some feelings for Elena too.”

‘The Vampire Diaries’ Panel at 2010 Paley Fest

Revealing a hint about the March 25 episode, the producers said the tension between Damon and Alaric reaches its climax when Damon’s involvement in Isobel’s death is unveiled. Apart from the guest starring appearance of Melinda Clarke as Matt’s mother, there will be two new mysterious characters introduced in the episode.

Williamson said he’s preparing seven to nine cliffhangers to make sure the show will end the first season with a bang. Paul Wesley said his character Stefan will reveal more layers since he harbors another secret. A new device that goes beyond the vampire compass will also be featured in a future episode.

We have just been given a lot of information. I’m glad though because I’ve been somewhat disappointed in Vamp Diaries lately. I love the first slew of episodes but when the show came back, it’s been kind of annoying to try and follow all the different storylines. I hope they come back around to where they started and it sounds like they just might.

That picture of Damon and Melinda is smoking hot! I think I’m sweating lol.

What do you think of all the new information? What are you most looking forward to that is mentioned above?

ARE GENRE SHOWS THE FUTURE OF THE CW?

Source: Airlock Alpha

Even before The WB and UPN “merged” (so to speak) to become The CW, the idea was to stray away from mainstream audiences, and gear more toward the underserved.

In the beginning, it was more toward a racially diverse audience. Later, it was a stronger focus toward women. But every time, genre shows win out.

First it was “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Angel,” and later it was “Smallville.” Now The CW has a crop of popular shows that refuse to die at the stake, including the tried and true “Supernatural” and the new “Vampire Diaries.”

What do you think of CW becoming genre specific? Do you think it’s going that way? as for the ‘true blood’ news and the ‘Game of Thrones’ news – I love it when everyone involved in tv shows try to make the experience more real, either through choosing locations that have a certain feel to them, or using props, or, you know REAL WOLVES. Makes the show more fun.

VAMPIRE DIARIES NEWS MARCH 4TH NINA DOBREV

Author: Dawn | Filed under: News Blog

The Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev gets Seventeen cover

“The first time Paul [Wesley] and I met, I met nine other guys as well because I had already been cast and they were deciding for the Stefan role. I had to read with like 30 studio executives, and they were just kind of watching and analyzing because that was the whole point of the test…they wanted to see who had the best chemistry. And everyone was great, but Paul had this old soul, like a history that you could feel…he seemed like he’d been around longer, and knew more, and he had a grasp for the character different from anyone else.”

Read more over at BSCReview.com They have a bunch of great pictures from the shoot.

Make sure to check out the video too.

‘Vampire Diaries’ Star Nina Dobrev Says She Won’t Date Costars, Relates To Bella Swan In Seventeen

Now that she gets to hang out with Paul and his onscreen bro Ian Somerhalder all the time, Nina must have some juice on them, right? “They’re both really great in different kinds of ways.” Um, tell us something we don’t know! “Paul definitely takes his job very seriously He’s very professional. Ian’s the prankster, the jokester. He makes light of every moment, and he’s very exciting and cool. He has the best stories, because he has just experienced so much, and he’s been on so many cool sets and movies. We love each other’s company.”

With such a charmed life, it’s hard to imagine Nina ever went through a rough patch. But she admits her high school days were no easy ride. “Looking back on high school, I just remember specific scenarios and thinking, wow, that was such a big deal at the time, but right now it feels like it never even happened. So I guess if I can give any advice, I would just say that everything will pass, and it’ll feel like it was a big deal over nothing. Life goes on and then you change and other things happen, and everything feels like it’s so much worse afterward. It’ll always get better.”

I think Nina is freaking adorable. She seems very humble, down to earth and just plain nice, which I think is rare.

What do you think of her Seventeen cover, pics, video and interview? Do you relate to anything she said?

TWILIGHT, VAMPIRE DIARIES AND TRUE BLOOD VAMPIRES UNITE AT COSMO EVENT

Source: hollywoodcrush.mtv.com

The Big Apple was overflowing with deliciousness last night. First there was Robert Pattinson at the “Remember Me” premiere, and not even one mile away at the Mandarin Oriental hotel, Rob’s “Twilight” costar Kellan Lutz and a few other choice bloodsuckers showed off their pearly whites at Cosmopolitan magazine’s 2010 Fun Fearless Males party.

We’re absolutely loving the photo op above because when else will we ever catch three stars from three different hit vampire franchises — Kellan, “True Blood” actor Stephen Moyer and “Vampire Diaries” heartthrob Paul Wesley — chumming it up together?

HBO WILL PLAY ‘GAME OF THRONES’

Source: artsbeat.blogs.nytimes. com

If you’ve been jonesing for an epic fantasy to help fill the gap between Peter Jackson’s “Lord of the Rings” movies and the maybe-someday remake of “Dune,” HBO may have just rolled the saving throw you needed.

On Tuesday, the cable channel announced that it had officially ordered “Game of Thrones,” a new series based on George R. R. Martin’s “Song of Ice and Fire” fantasy novels. The best-selling book franchise, which began in 1996 with “A Game of Thrones,” chronicles the dynastic conflicts among several families on the mythical continent of Westeros.

The principal cast of the HBO series, which will run 10 episodes, features no less than 17 cast members, including Mark Addy, Sean Bean, Peter Dinklage, Jennifer Ehle, Iain Glen and Lena Headey, as well as Tamzin Merchant (of “Pride and Prejudice”) as the heroine Daenerys Targaryen.

For Love Of Do-Good Vampires: A Bloody Book List

by Margot Adler at NPR
Photobucket
Even here at NPR, if you look at the archives, there have been at least 20 recent stories about vampires. What is it about our society now — the zeitgeist, the spirit of the times — that’s making vampires so popular? And why are most of the vampires we are seeing struggling to be moral?

A confession: In the past nine months, I’ve read 75 vampire novels. I’ll get to why later, but let’s first step back in history.

Kimberly Pauley has written an incredibly funny vampire book for teens that turns the genre on its head; it’s called Sucks to be Me. She believes vampires are attractive right now because we’re in a time somewhat similar to the Depression, another “time of chaos,” she says.

Illustrator Jim Tierney has designed a series of interactive covers for Jules Verne’s most cherished novels. Wave-shaped dust jackets for 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea? Pop-up spaceships for From the Earth to the Moon? Yes, please.

For his senior project, University of the Arts student Jim Tierney reimagined the covers of Jules Verne’s 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea, From the Earth to the Moon, Journey To The Center of The Earth, and Around The World in 80 Days.

Android Karenina Book Cover Mixes C-3PO And Sex

by Meredith Woerner at io9

Quirk Classics, the makers of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies have released their next cover for the cyborg inspired Android Karenina. The retold classic by Leo Tolstoy and Ben H. Winters, will be in stores June 8, 2010.

Just like the original Anna Karenina, the mash-up version will follow the relationships of Anna and Vronsky, and Levin and Kitty, but rather than 19th-century Russia, these characters live “in a steampunk-inspired world of robotic butlers, clumsy automata, and rudimentary mechanical devices”. “When these copper-plated machines begin to revolt against their human masters, our characters must fight back using state-of-the-art 19th-century technology – and a sleek new model of ultra-human cyborgs like nothing the world has ever seen”

Fantasy Matters

Dr. Kirtland C Peterson at Tor

Not long ago I devoured Ursula K. Le Guin’s Cheek By Jowl: Talks & Essays on How & Why Fantasy Matters. In keeping with The Language of the Night: Essays on Fantasy & Science Fiction and Dancing at the Edge of the World: Thoughts on Words, Women, Places, it is a treasure trove of insight about fantasy, fiction, the craft of writing, and those neglected, spurned, interior worlds of the right brain.

As I was putting fingers to keyboard, a thought became a voice became an inner figure who demanded she be heard. While inclined to ignore this inner figure—a small frog, a juvenile Rhacophorus nigropalmatus I believe—her words carried weight and could not so easily be sloughed off. She asked:

“What about the left brain? Does fantasy matter to the human analytical biocomputer?”

“Fiction, stories, work like case-based reasoning in AI…”

That’s an amazing list of vampire novels! I’ve read a few, but they are even more that sound interesting. I’ll probably use the list to help me pick books now. And I love the Jules Verne covers, I may have to get a copy of From the Earth to the Moon. And I’m so excited for Android Karenina! I love steampunk, and I haven’t read Anna Karenina, so it’ll be brand new. And it’s very cool to see a biological reason for why people read and make up stories.
