True Blood’s Alexander Skarsgard: ‘Fame scared me’
What’s the best thing about playing Eric, the 1000-year-old Viking vampire in True Blood?
“As an actor, the last thing I want to play is a typical handsome leading man. It’s always great when you play a complicated character like Eric.”

So there’s more to him than just biting necks?
“In the first series, people thought he was just a bad guy, but there’s a lot more to him than meets the eye. We’re now seeing his loyal, caring and sensitive side. Don’t get me wrong, he’s still the same old Eric – there’s just more to him than being an evil vampire.”
Are you a music fan?
“I’d much rather be a rock star than an actor. My favourites are Van Morrison and The Clash. Because I’m Swedish, people think I must like ABBA, but they were always much bigger in the rest of the world than they ever were in Sweden.”

Q&A with True Blood author Charlaine Harris
AMERICAN author Charlaine Harris is best known for vampires-in-the-deep-south True Blood novels featuring heroine Sookie Stackhouse. On Wednesday, she’s signing books in Nottingham.
You’ve created a world of “supes” although the fairies have gone. (I’ll miss ‘em, I love the way you gave them Irish names). Are there any new beings to come?
In the next book there’s an incidental character who’s of another race. And there are still some fairies hanging around. Hope you enjoy them.
What did you think of the True Blood TV version and were you able to have any input in the series? (They did seem to go overboard on the sex.)
I love the TV show, and I really enjoy seeing my work through Alan’s interpretation. (Alan Ball, who created American series Six Feet Under, is creator and producer of the True Blood television series.) My input lies in writing the books the show is based on.

What did you think of our true Brit Stephen Moyer’s performance as Bill Compton?
I admire Stephen. I’m so pleased he’s in the series, and I think he’s given Bill depth and great appeal.
You also write crime fiction with the Harper Connelly “grave” stories. Would you like to see Harper get the same small screen treatment as Sookie? The latest instalment, Grave Secret, seems to flesh out some characters, such as Manfred and Harper’s sisters, aunt and uncle, so there seem to be plenty of cast members for a TV series. Was this deliberate?
No, I fleshed out the characters because they were an integral part of the story. But there has been TV interest in the Harper books, and it may happen, may not.

I have to point out that Alexander would make a kick ass rock star. Would you agree with that? I don’t even care if he has a good voice, I just want to see him in skin tight leather pants….
Charlaine Harris does a lot of interviews. I think it’s great that she is so accessible.
I’m sad that the Harper Connelly series hasn’t gotten interest for a TV series. I love those books and I think as a series it would do well. What do you think?

BOOKS NEWS FOR FEB. 26TH: CHARLAINE HARRIS, KIM HARRISON, GRAPHIC NOVEL AWARD, AND ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER
Author: Staar84 | Filed under: Book News, News Blog‘True Blood’ Creator Next Subject Of ‘Female Force’ Bio Comics
By Rick Marshall at MTV News

It’s a big week for “True Blood” author Charlaine Harris in the comics world, with an announcement earlier this week that her popular Harper Connelly series was receiving a comic book adaptation. Now, we bring you the exclusive news that Harris will be the next subject of Bluewater Productions’ “Female Force” comic book biographies.
Hitting shelves in May, “Female Force: Charlaine Harris” promises to explore the author’s career “from the publication of the lighthearted Aurora Teargarden mysteries to the phenomenon of her vampire-infused Sookie Stackhouse stories.” And unlike previous “Female Force” books, Bluewater reports that Harris took an active role in the development of the comic, discussing her career with the comic’s writer, Kim Sherman (who also authored the publisher’s “Fame: Robert Pattinson” bio).

Kim Harrison back in limelight with new sci-fi book
by Ursula Watson at The Detroit News

New York Times bestselling author Kim Harrison first cast her spell over sci-fi and urban fantasy fans with her 2004 book “Dead Witch Walking,” in which supernatural creatures live life out in the open after a plague nearly decimates humanity. Since then, seven books have taken readers on the adventures of a witch named Rachel Morgan, who doesn’t drive, as she hunts down supernatural baddies with her pals Ivy, a top-notch detective and vampire, and Jenks, an oft-irascible, tell-it-like-is pixy who provides a bit of comic relief.
Harrison, a Michigan native, returns to the literary limelight with the eighth book in the series, “Black Magic Sanction” (Eos, $25.99), which hit shelves Tuesday.
When did you become a writer? My husband was on a business trip. I got bored and started writing. I had this idea since high school of a book I wanted to write. I wrote for an hour. Then the next day, I wrote for another hour. When he came home, I read what I had written to him and he loved it. All I needed was that tiny bit of encouragement.

Top 10 Sexiest Vampires For Valentine’s Day
It’s Valentine’s Day weekend and that means expensive chocolates, teddy bears, and vampires. Vampires?! You might be asking yourself what the walking dead has to do with the most romantic holiday of the year? Recently, Hollywood has been capitalizing on the long running obsession that people have had with the creatures, and it’s probably because the majority of the ones we’ve seen have been ridiculously good looking. Sure, they’d drain you like a bowl of spaghetti, but we just can’t shake them.
So this Valentine’s Day curl up with your significant other and watch your favorite vampire flick that will hopefully feature some of the pretty men and women who made our list.
10. Edward Cullen – The Twilight Saga

Edward Cullen is the leading vampire in the Twilight series, and he drives women bat-sh*t crazy. I don’t know if it’s his emaciated look, or perfectly coiffed hair that turns heads but whatever it is it’s working. When it comes to dominating young women (and their mothers), this guy takes the cake. What’s not to love about a man who watches you while you sleep and constantly reminds you that he wants to kill you?
4. Louis de Pointe du Lac – Interview With A Vampire

Interview With a Vampire is one of those films that should be placed in the horror genre, but all the scary stuff is constantly overlooked because of its two leading stars. The film featured Tom Cruise (in his hottie days) as Lestat de Lioncourt and Brad Pitt as Louis de Pointe du Lac. Du Lac was a victim of circumstance, and a sad soul who made you want to hug him despite the fact that he’d snap you neck at any moment. He was Emo, before Emo was cool.
1. Eric Northman – HBO’s True Blood

Our number one vampire pick isn’t just the flavor of the week, he is the real deal. “True Blood’s” Eric Northman’s not the conventional romantic or even perverse vampire we typically see on television and film. He doesn’t go and attach himself to any woman with a pulse, he’s particularly bored with the human race and only sees them as a source of food. So when it comes to his love life, you have to be a pretty special woman to catch his attention. His attitude may come off as a bit condescending but the fact that he’s a 6′4, Scandinavian Adonis helps us cope.

Every minute all over the world, there are people who need a blood transfusion to help save their life. This isn’t possible unless people donate their blood. So “Starve a Vampire & Give Blood”
Starting March 1st, TV.com is joining forces with our favorite Vamps; Twilight, True Blood, and Vampire Diaries to host a nationwide blood drive to help save lives! During March 1st thru the 14th, you can go to any of your local blood banks or to the red cross, and donate your blood thereby starving Vampires

According to TV.com, the Red Cross is in highly need of O- blood, so if you gotta, please donate it. This is a very important part of our life, you never know if someday you will need the same help of a donor. If you have never experienced donating blood, let me fill you in on a secret, it’s not near as bad as it seems. Mind you, it’s not going to be like if Edward Cullen, Eric Northman, or Stefan Salvatore drank your blood sadly, but it’s still a great cause
