5 REASON LOST’S PARALLEL UNIVERSE IS A WASTE OF TIME

Dissatisfied with the final season of Lost so far? Finding yourself wondering “who is the baseball,” and not “what are the numbers” any more? We understand your pain — and we blame it all on the parallel universe. Spoilers ahead…

If you’ve been unhappily struggling through Lost’s final season of parallel-universe craziness, apparently you’re not alone, judging from producer Damon Lindelof’s snippy tweet a while back. And he has a point, this is a “strap in and take it on the chin” kind of show, and that’s why we generally love it.

But we’re still not so sure the alternate time line where Flight 815 never crashed (and the island sank) was the right way to go. Here’s why.

The Lost article could not be closer to the exact sentiments I and my fellow OBS staff members have. We are so done with all these flash sideways and flash from over yonder scenes that add absolutely nothing to what we already know. I was highly disappointed with the last episode.  What are your thoughts about the direction or the lack there of, that it is taking?

Are you happy there will be new episodes of Futurama?

Finally! Damon needs a love interest, besides the missing Catherine. Maybe through this we can see Damon’s character grow even further and maybe he’ll have even more screen time.  I personally like his snarkiness. What do you think?

There’s good and bad news for fans of the CW’s Thursday night schedule.  First, the bad news: after this week, both Supernatural and The Vampire Diaries will be taking a five-week hiatus, with reruns filling the Thursday night schedule through the middle of March.

What’s the good news?  When Supernatural and The Vampire Diaries return with new episodes starting March 25, their seasons will finish uninterrupted with eight brand new episodes each.

For crying out loud! Just when The Vampire Diaries returns, it goes on hiatus. Are they trying to be like Lost or something? I know Lost doesn’t do that exactly, it just goes away for a year at a time, but absence doesn’t make the heart grow fonder when it comes to television shows, it just makes us forget what the heck is going on. I am not a fan of Supernatural so frankly my dear, I don’t give a darn about that show. But I am sure lots of fan will have gripes.  What are your thoughts?

In the new hit CW drama The Vampire Diaries, Steven R. McQueen stars as Jeremy Gilbert, a troubled teen on a dangerous and self-destructive path since the death of his parents.

With an already impressive resume of television appearances, the 21-year-old grandson of actor Steve McQueen had a recurring role as a musical prodigy on the drama Everwood, a leading role in the Disney Channel movie Minutemen and guest-starring roles on such series as CSI: Miami, Without a Trace, Numbers and Threshold. On the big screen, he can be seen later this year in a leading role in the upcoming sci-fi action film Piranha 3-D, with Elizabeth Shue, Richard Dreyfuss and Jerry O’Connell.

CAPRICA: LIKE MAD MEN WITH ROBOTS

There’s nothing like a good origin story, those moments where the bits of the puzzle come together and you see the picture underneath? Like the first time anyone utters the word Cylon or the name Adama. It gives you a little thrill and that’s the joy of Caprica.

Prequels aren’t easy. People already know how the story turns out so you have to find a different way to build suspense. And then there are all the ground rules and backstories that are already set in stone, so the road is already fairly well mapped before you get there.

THE VAMPIRE DIAIRES: WHO IS ANNA?

The Vampire Diaries is a lot like 24, and not just because Paul Wesley appeared on both shows this week.  While every new character introduced on 24 is instantly under scrutiny as a mole, every new Vampire Diaries character is a possible vampire.

Such is the case with Anna, the awkward home schooled girl Jeremy flirted with in the library.  This new girl comes out of nowhere, is allegedly “home schooled” and has an intense interest in vampire mythology and old family journals.

So what’s the deal with Anna?  Is she a vampire, a completely innocent girl or something else entirely?

DIABLO CODY THINKS A JENNIFER’S BODY SERIES WOULD BE “AMAZING”

About a month ago, our friends at CliqueClack listed five reasons why Diablo Cody’s thriller Jennifer’s Bodyshould be made into a television series.

They seemed to list some compelling reasons, especially the fact that it would play well with fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. So when Cody was at the TCAs to promote the upcoming season of her Showtime hit United States of Tara, I decided to ask her about the prospect as she got off-stage.

“I had never heard that,” she replied. “That would be amazing.”

Have you started watching the new show Caprica?

I’m unsure about Anna’s seemingly cute act on Vampire Diaries. There is definitely something amiss with her. What are your guesses?

LOVE SUCKS

Those well acquainted with Serena and Little J may find this fact hard to believe: Vampire Diaries, The CW’s budding show about bloodsuckers and the teen girls who love and / or get eaten by them, has double the number of Gossip Girl viewers.

What makes it such a hit?  It could be the current cultural zeitgeist of Edward, Bella, Sookie, Bill, and immortal drama.  It could be the lingering teen appeal of star Nina Dobrev (remember her from Degrassi?).  Or maybe it’s just damn fun and funny.

‘VAMPIRES DIARIES’ STAR NINA DOBREV ON ELENA’S LOOK-ALIKE DILEMMA

When it premiered in September, The CW’s “The Vampire Diaries” drew the largest audience of any other premiere since the network’s 2006 debut, and it has maintained impressive momentum ever since.  On the heels of a 2010 People’s Choice Award for Favorite New TV Drama, the show returns tonight after a nine-week hiatus.

“Degrassi: The Next Generation” alum Nina Dobrev, who recently celebrated her 21st birthday, is pulling double duty. She not only stars as the show’s magnetic ingenue, Elena Gilbert, but also as her civil-war-era doppelgänger, the bloodthirsty vampiress Katherine Pierce.

‘VAMPIRE DIARIES’ STAR KATERINA GRAHAM SAYS NEW EPISODES HAVE ‘CHALLENGES’

When ‘The Vampire Diaires’ returns on tonight, fans will be scrambling to know what’s next for the kids of Mystic Falls, Virginia. While hints were dropped that Elena (Nina Dobrev) could fall prey to the charms of Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and forget about Stefan (Paul Wesley), it comes as no surprise that her witchy BFF, Bonnie, may have a crisis on her hands as well.

“Bonnie is definitely going to be faced with some challenges that she was not expecting,”Katerina Graham, who plays Bonnie on the show, told MTV News recently. “And in order to protect her family and her friends, she’s going to have to make some decisions that are going to test her and Elena’s friendship. And she’s going to have to either really be there for her or take a step back.”

ONLINE SPOILERS ‘FALSE’ FOR VAMPIRE DIAIRES

The Vampire Diaries returns with its first new episode since mid November, Bloodlines, in which bad-boy vampire dude Damon (Ian Somerhalder) takes a sojourn to the Georgia bayous, where he puts the fear of godlessness into an old flame (guest star Gina Torres).

There’s no advance warning in the show’s promos for what happens to dear Elena (Nina Dobrev), who found herself in a precarious situation in November’s cliffhanger, but it’s a safe bet The Vampire Diaries’ heart and soul will embrace the light like a moth to the flame before the night is out.
