New Moon Makes Top Ten Soundtracks List for 2009
from film.com:Any year that features films from music-oriented directors Wes Anderson and Quentin Tarantino is going to be a good year for soundtracks. Many of the films’ soundtracks this year were highly anticipated, with indie rock star power attached early on to films like The Twilight Saga: New Moon (Thom Yorke, Grizzly Bear, Bon Iver) and Where the Wild Things Are (Karen O. of Yeah Yeah Yeahs), but not all delivered on that promise when the visuals were married in the final product.
The commonality of most of the soundtracks on this list is nostalgia, whether it be for old cinema classics or for our own childhood. It’s a tricky business, tickling that ache for the past, but for the films below business is mostly good. (As an added bonus, several of the entries below have “reassembled” playlists incorporating all the songs used in the film — enjoy!)
10. The Twilight Saga: New Moon
New Moon makes this list almost purely because of the inclusion of new material from the likes of Grizzly Bear (“Slow Life”), Thom Yorke (“Hearing Damage”), and pairing Bon Iver with St. Vincent (“Roslyn”). Whether it’s the best music for Taylor Lautner to remove his shirt to is probably up for debate.
Twitter Alert! David Slade “Planning New Year’s Gift”
A few days ago, David Slate tweeted another cryptic tweet telling fans that he was “planning a New Year’s gift.” This tweet came right on the heels of a couple of tweets responding to fan inquiries about when the first Eclipse trailer would be out. Twilight Saga fans around the world are speculating on what this gift could be – whether it’s one his own personal tweets, as he is known to use his Twitter account for a lot of personal things; or if it’s aimed at Twilight fans.
Where to See the “Twilight”, “New Moon”, and “Eclipse” Stars in 2010
from examiner.com:The Twilight cast is positively gigantic at this point. With The Twilight Saga: New Moon and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse complete, the list of cast members has grown significantly. There are some who play, well, bigger roles in the film series (i.e., Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner), but even with a cast this formidable, each and every actor in the series holds a special place in the hearts of Twilight fans who support their careers even outside of the series.
There are a few whose 2010 adventures have been well elucidated and explored. For instance, the fact that they’ll be showing in the summer’s The Twilight Saga: Eclipse is pretty much a given.
Even still, a comprehensive round-up of where you’ll see the Twilight cast in 2010 couldn’t hurt, now could it? This’ll be continually updated as more information comes in, by the way.
Top Ten “Twilight” Moments to Look Forward to in 2010

'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' - Summit Ent.
from examiner.com:
It’s officially 2010, and you know what that means . . . another year of Twilight!
2009 was a great year for Twilight fans, and we’ve already discussed this fact thoroughly. Well, 2010 seems to be shaping up – already – to be a great one as well.
Of course, the year will hold ups, downs, and in-betweens . . . and there’ll be a few surprises to be sure, but right now there are several coming events of the year that’ll make 2010 another year for Twilight fans!
Without further adieu, here are the top ten Twilight moments to look forward to in 2010!
- The Twilight Saga: Eclipse trailer
- The Twilight Saga: New Moon DVD and deleted scenes/commentary
- Remember Me, Valentine’s Day, The Runaways, and other films by the cast
Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson Make MTV’s Top 10 Movies and TV Shows for 2010
MTV’s Hollywood Crush staff put together a list of the top 10 TV shows and movies that they are most looking forward to in 2010 and the list includes Twilight stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Dakota Fanning.
Robert Pattinson appears on the list at #8 for his upcoming performance in “Remember Me” with Emilie de Ravin and again at #2 for “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse”.
Kristen Stewart appears on the list with Dakota Fanning at the #7 spot for their upcoming biopic, “The Runaways.” She shows up again, along with Robert Pattinson, in the #2 spot for “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse”. (Of course, we’ll also see Dakota Fanning again as Jane.)
Taylor Lautner also has a role making the list for the film “Valentine’s Day”, featuring an incredible star-studded cast of Hollywood elite.
New Moon Trailer Spoof: “Beauty and the Beast”
A very talented person has a “New Moon” trailer spoof on YouTube with footage from Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” that is just awesome. It has over two million hits and I don’t know how it took me so long to find out about it. If you haven’t already seen it, you can check it out here!
Kudos to the New Moon team for putting together a very good soundtrack! In fact, I was listening to it this morning before I even saw the article. With the exception of a couple of songs, I love it!
What do you think about David Slade’s latest tweet? Do you think that it’s personal or Twilight-related? If you think it’s Twilight, what do you think that it could be?
I loved reading the comprehensive list of what all of the Twilight stars are up to this year. They are a very busy bunch of talented people! I am really looking forward to many of their movies already – The Runaways, Remember Me, Valentine’s Day, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. It’s going to be a good year for fans!
There are definitely many Twilight moments to look forward to – I’m already anxious for details on the New Moon DVD release, as well as the release of the first Eclipse trailer!

ANNE KENDRICK NOMINATED FOR A GOLDEN GLOBE!
www.mtv.com: On Tuesday (December 15), it was announced that Anna Kendrick was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture for her work in the George Clooney movie “Up in the Air.” Even before starring in that movie (which received the most Globe nominations this year) or playing chatterbox Jessica in the “Twilight” franchise, the 26-year-old actress has been receiving accolades for her work.

PETER FACINELLI’S PLANS FOR 2010
www.examiner.com: When Twilight Lexicon asked Facinelli what the year 2010 held in store for Facinelli, he revealed that his plans stood waiting in the balance of what his commitments held in store for him – particularly with The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn and a possible third season of his Showtime series hit Nurse Jackie.
Right now I’m looking forward to the holiday break. Next year there’s a couple of movies I’m looking at doing in the spring. There’s a movie that I wrote that I’m trying to get off the ground. I’d like to do a movie in the spring to early summer and then hopefully, you know, if we do Nurse Jackie III I’ll be back in the fall. And if we do Breaking Dawn I’ll be back in the fall/winter hopefully. Everything’s kind of up in the air with the end of Nurse Jackie III and Breaking Dawn. So that… I have to sit and wait. But right now I have a window between January and August that I can stuff. Right now I’m just seeing what I want to do.

OBS SPEAKS OUT: WHAT I LIKE ABOUT THE SOOKIE STACKHOUSE BOOK SERIES
Author: ifellhard | Filed under: News Blog, OBS Speaks OutJust like with The Twilight Saga, my sister introduced me to the world of Sookie Stackhouse and all of the fine people and supernatural citizens of Bon Temps, Louisiana. My sister loaned me her copy of Dead Until Dark and I was hooked. I ended up getting the rest of the series and reading all of them over the course of about three weeks this summer. I also got the first season of True Blood from Netflix and subscribed to HBO so that I could catch the second season when it aired.
I was recently asked what it is that I like about the Sookie Stackhouse books. After giving it some thought, here are my top five reasons why I like this series so much.
- Vampire love triangle!! Like in The Twilight Saga, there is a love triangle between Sookie, Bill, and Eric. At times, it’s more of a quadrilateral or a pentagon because of a few other love interests with some other supernatural beings, but you get the point. There’s plenty of romantic conflict to keep things interesting throughout the series. Bill Compton has been a vampire for close to 150 years and wants to do whatever he can to hold on to his humanity. Eric Northman has been a vampire for more than 1000 years and has no qualms about what he is. Both men are vying for Sookie’s heart, and she has no desire to become a vampire. Bill was Sookie’s first love, but will he be her last? Only time will tell with the last books in the series yet to come!
- First-person narrative from Sookie’s POV. I prefer the first person narrative so much in these types of stories because it allows the reader to really experience what the protagonist is really feeling and experiencing throughout the story. Known around Bon Temps as being crazy or a freak because of her telepathic ability, Sookie is so likeable that you can’t help but enjoy being along for the ride. The fact that she can read thoughts makes it even more entertaining and eliminates the need for any third-person accounts.
- Characters I can relate to. Sookie lives in a small town in the South and I can completely relate to that. While Bon Temps, Louisiana, may be a fictional place, it could very easily be the small Southern town where I grew up. As I read the books and watch the show on TV, I can easily associate each character with a real person. It’s easy for me to imagine a real-life Jason Stackhouse or Lafayette from my own hometown. About half of my friends’ mothers or grandmothers could fit the role of Gran. It took me about two shakes to figure out who my real-life Andy Bellefleur could be, as well as Hoyt Fortenberry. These are just ordinary people with ordinary jobs in a small town. It’s much more believable than something from The Real Housewives or Keeping Up with the Kardashians – not everyone gets to live a glamorous life.
- Plenty of grown-up content. While I am fine with Stephenie Meyer’s approach to the relationship between Bella and Edward, many fans of The Twilight Saga have complained that Stephenie Meyer left out too many juicy details of adult situations between them. Charlaine Harris picked up that fumble and ran it the other way for a touchdown. Poor Sookie was lacking in the adult relations department before she met Bill Compton and she certainly made up for lost time once she began hanging out with “supes” of all varieties. The language is also quite colorful, not that it really matters one way or the other. However, it is certainly quite effective for making a point in these stories. If you’re looking for more adult content, you will have no trouble finding it among the people of Bon Temps.
- Another nice escape from reality. In a time of economic uncertainty, corrupt politicians, war, and Tiger Woods with his many mistresses, it’s very relaxing to read about a small-town barmaid who can read minds who has several suitors who are crazy about her. She goes off on crazy adventures trying to help solve crimes in both the human and supernatural worlds. What’s not to like? When you’re a stay-at-home mom who spends your time shuttling kids to and from school, dance, church, and soccer in between cleaning, doing laundry, and all of the Christmas shopping for the entire family, it’s just incredibly nice to escape reality for a while.
What about you? Have you read the Sookie Stackhouse books? If so, why do you like them so much? Join us in the forum and share your thoughts!

TWILIGHT SAGA NEWS FOR DECEMBER 14TH
Author: Nikki | Filed under: Book/Movie Merch, Interviews, Movie News, News Blog
NEW MOON HELPS GREENE ACHEIVE STARDOM
www.usatoday.com: Just like the first two Twilight movies, Eclipse has a different director, David Slade, who Greene says is “definitely different from Catherine (Hardwicke) and Chris (Weitz). He is technically the most specific director that I’ve ever worked with.” Greene says fans of the franchise should expect Slade to “bring a darker element to this film. He seems to kind of specialize in that.”
That darker side includes Alice as well. “In (Twilight), you see that quality about Alice that makes her so lovable is she’s so positive and upbeat. In (New Moon), you see how she takes these uncomfortable situations and she’s sassy and she brings light to a dark scene,” Greene says. “In (Eclipse), you get to see a little bit of a darker side when her family is in danger. You get to see once again that she is an animal and she’s not human.”

BRYCE DALLAS HOWARD ON ECLIPSE
www.mtv.com: ”There’s quite an extraordinary finale,” Howard told MTV News of the scene that took weeks of intense fight training to prepare for. “That was very fun to do.”
Those well-versed in Stephenie Meyer’s fantastical world of vampires and werewolves know that the third “Twilight” installment focuses heavily on elements of love and war. In addition to the love triangle involving Edward, Bella and Jacob, “Eclipse” follows the actions of vampire Victoria, who creates an army of newborn bloodsuckers to avenge the death of her mate James in “Twilight.”
Howard was careful not to reveal any details about the pivotal scene, but she did concede that the battle will likely trump the ballet-studio fight in “Twilight” and the Volturi rumble in “New Moon.”

ECLIPSE SECRETS REVEALED!
www.etonline.com: ”I was excited about the photo shoot. I wasn’t too nervous, I’ve been in a prom dress before,” said 22-year-old Ashley, looking glamorous in a strapless, floor-length purple gown.
Ashley, whose Teen Prom issue hits newsstands Dec. 22, also showed off a bruise on her arm (rendered practically invisible with makeup) that she sustained while training for the eagerly awaited third ‘Twilight’ film, ‘Eclipse.’
“Until I had to shoot in prom dresses, I didn’t get any bruises. I was doing really well,” she smiled. “It’s horrible, but it’s been really fun. [Our moves] will look really, really good by the time we finally get to the fight sequence because in ‘Eclipse’ … we have to fight this new-born vampire army.”
She adds that her training involves “a lot of learning to run and jump off walls and land on people’s shoulders, and flips and throwing your body just ways that you would never, under any circumstance, normally do.”

HOW TO DRESS LIKE BELLA
www.collegefashion.net: Love it or hate it, you have to admit that the Twilight franchise is beginning to reach fever pitch. Everywhere I go, it’s “Team Edward” this, or “Team Jacob” that!
But man candy aside, one thing all of us here at College Fashion can agree on is that many of you seem to love the main character Bella Swan (played by Kristen Stewart) and her effortless style. We’ve received tons of emails requesting a breakdown of Bella’s wardrobe, so here it is!
Bella’s style is very low-maintenance, yet she still looks gorgeous at all times. Everything has a pretty yet effortless “I just threw it on” look to it. While it is clear that Bella would much rather stare at Edward all day than spend hours getting ready (who can blame her), she does have a specific sense of style.

TWILIGHT INSPIRES NEW PRODUCTIONS OF BRONTE STORIES
www.guardian.co.uk: The Brontës are back in fashion – with a bit of help from Bella Swan. New films of Wuthering Heights and Jane Eyre will shoot next spring, and a script about the teenage fantasies of the four Brontë siblings is in the works.
The film-makers are piggybacking off the success of the Twilight saga, which has sparked a renewed enthusiasm among financiers for gothic romance; the Brontës in particular. Wuthering Heights is one of Twilight heroine Bella Swan’s favourite books, frequently referenced in the third episode Eclipse, whose storyline is inspired by Emily Brontë’s only novel.
The producers of the latest Brontë projects are targeting the Twilight audience with younger casts than previous versions and scripts that emphasise the sensational gothic elements alongside a contemporary psychological realism.
