Hordes of zombie books attack!
www.fangoria.com:If there’s one thing we’ve learned over the years, it’s that zombies are hard to kill. And with the abundance of undead books hitting the shelves this fall and winter, it seems the incredibly popular vampire trend still hasn’t put the bullet in all those flesheating brains. From short-story collections to records of infection to silly survival guides to even some Christmas cheer, the undead have been popping up everywhere on the page; here’s a rundown of some ghoulish literature to feast your eyes upon this season:
To aid readers in surviving an undead apocalypse, Ulysses Press has released THE ZOMBIE HANDBOOK by Rob Sacchetto. In the vein of Brooks’ THE ZOMBIE SURVIVAL GUIDE and the like, Sacchetto meticulously and humorously lays out a manual teaching you all there is to know about the flesheaters and how to deal with them. In addition to witty survival tips, Sacchetto has filled THE ZOMBIE HANDBOOK with diagrams and illustrated examples of all his major points.

Debut Vampire Novel “Emery” Releases Exclusively With Amazon On Friday The 13th
www.prweb.com:Shonnovan Mitchell’s debut novel “Emery” is available Friday the 13th at Amazon, published by upstart independent Trilogus Media Group in Arizona. The novel portrays teenager Tabitha Avery as she moves to a small town in Montana and becomes the love-interest of Emery, the loner student body president. Tabitha learns that the town is a haven for vampires, and that his lust for her may be more than even he can resist. She doesn’t want to become like him, but struggles with a way to refuse.
There’s a new wrinkle in the book promotion: a chance to help the author cast the movie. Many readers like to “fantasy cast” the books they read, picking film and TV stars for the roles. The publisher and author have partnered with Storycasting.com to make “Emery” available for casting at http://bit.ly/Cast_Emery. The publisher can’t promise who Hollywood will choose, but the author has posted a “cast” that includes Aussie actor Travis Fimmel in the title role. Storycasting.com is free and non-spamming.

Author: Emily-June | Filed under: Author News, Book News, Interviews, News Blog
on www.butterflybookreviews.com
PC and Kristin stopped by to talk about Tempted, the sixth book in the series scheduled to be released October 27th 2009.
Q: Without giving too much away, can you give us a hint as to what readers can look forward to in this highly anticipated series installment?
KC: TEMPTED will be told from six different characters points of view, and you should definitely pull out your Kleenex boxes! I cried three times!
Q: Recently you both traveled to England to do research for the seventh book in the House of Night Series, Burned. Can you tell us about some of your favorite places you visited?
KC: I loved Culloden, the site where the Clans fought against the English. It was really moving and I learned a lot about myself.
PC: I adore the Highlands! Actually, I’ll be returning next month for more research, specifically at the Isle of Skye, where Zoey and the gang will be going in BURNED.
Q: What other upcoming projects (solo or collaborative) are you working on?
KC: Right now, I’m working on a short story for HarperCollins, and, of course BURNED!
PC: I’m helping launch the new YA imprint of Harlequin TEEN with my fantasy books ELPHAME’S CHOICE and BRIGHID’S QUEST.

Only one month left until the sixth ‘House of Night’ book will be released. And now you can read the first chapter of ‘Tempted’ online.
Description:
So…you’d think after banishing an immortal being and a fallen High Priestess, saving Stark’s life, biting Heath, getting a headache from Erik, and almost dying, Zoey Redbird would catch a break. Sadly, a break is not in the House of Night school forecast for the High Priestess in training and her gang. Juggling three guys is anything but a stress reliever, especially when one of them is a sexy Warrior who is so into protecting Zoey that he can sense her emotions. Speaking of stress, the dark force lurking in the tunnels under the Tulsa Depot is spreading, and Zoey is beginning to believe Stevie Rae could be responsible for a lot more than a group of misfit red fledglings. Aphrodite’s visions warn Zoey to stay away from Kalona and his dark allure, but they also show that it is Zoey who has the power to stop the evil immortal. Soon it becomes obvious that Zoey has no choice: if she doesn’t go to Kalona he will exact a fiery vengeance on those closest to her. Will Zoey have the courage to chance losing her life, her heart, and her soul? Find out in the next spectacular installment in the House of Night series, TEMPTED.

houseofnightuk.com: CHAT SESSION WITH P.C. & KRISTIN CAST
Author: Dawn | Filed under: Author News, Book News, Movie News, News BlogHouseofNightuk.com has typed up the chat session with P.C Cast and Kristin Cast:
Q: How many books will there be in the House of Night Series?
A: They have been given a contract for 12 books.
Q: Can you reveal whose Point Of View ‘Tempted’ will be in?
A: This one will be from several different POV’s. You will see things from Zoey’s, Stevie Rae’s, Aphrodite’s, Heath, Stark and 1 Surprise perspective.Q: During the writing process did you ever have disagreements about how characters should be portrayed?
A: P.C. Yeah, who Zoeyshould be with. Kristin was the one who said ‘Mom, she’s too young to decide’. P.C. also said that Stark was originally meant to be with Stevie Rae however that’s not how the characters felt that it should be.Q: Is there a character in the series that you can relate to or picture yourself as?
A: Zoey was actually based on how Kristin was when she was that age. She has the addiction and love for Brown Pop and her favourite cereal is also Count Chocula. Kristin was also against ‘cussing’ too.Q: I’ve read online that someone has purchased the rights to make the House of Night Series into movie, can you tell us more?
A: Yes, the rights have been purchased and the producers are currently working witha screen writer who is in the process of creating the script. P.C. – We are not associated with the film process. We cannot control casting at all, so if you think you would be perfect for a part, I wish you luck but that’s the best I can do.Q: If you had the chance to choose your own personal ‘Ultimate Cast’ for the House of Night movies who would you chose to play the leading roles?
A: P.C. – Vanessa Hudgens would probably make a good Zoey, she looks the part, but she is too…(we discussed it a bit) Disney. Tom Welling would make a good Erik Night
Q: Who would you want Zoeyto be with?
A: Stark, but Kristin is the one who pointed out the fact that she is still too young to choose just one guy. There was a lot of laughter and joking about how its better to take your time finding ‘The One’.

ew.com: P.C. AND KRISTIN CAST TALK ABOUT WRITING TOGETHER
Author: Dawn | Filed under: Author News, News BlogEW’s Shelf Life has an interesting article/interview with PC and Kristin Cast:
On Tuesday, we showed you the cover of mother-daughter team P.C. and Kristin Cast’s sixth book, Tempted, in the best-selling House of Night series. P.C. and Kristin also chatted with Shelf Life about how they work together as a team. And for more with P.C., pick up this week’s issue of EW, on stands now.
EW: It’s very interesting the whole mother/daughter dynamic and working together and working on this series together, so tell me a little bit about the mother/daughter working relationship.
PCC and KC: We get this question all the time.
KC: I confer as an editor, almost. She will write the first draft, and I will go back in and fill in the parts that she hasn’t, like the descriptions, or similes and metaphors, or the the plot references. I do a lot of those. But if there’s a word that I can tell one of the teenagers wouldn’t use, I’ll change that and use the comment bubbles and put notes all throughout it, and she goes back and reads it and rewrites it and then we send it in.
Complete interview here.
Love this interview! It is so cool that they have such a close mother/daughter relationship. It’s a great example.
I very much enjoy their writing and more so now that I know a bit about them.
What do you think of mothers and daughters writing together? Did you know they were mother and daughter?
