Twilight Star Ashley Greene Joins Butter
Ashley Greene (“The Twilight Saga”) has joined The Weinstein Company comedy Butter. Jim Field Smith (She’s Out of My League) will direct from a script by Jason Micallef.
Greene, who just wrapped shooting for The Apparition last week, joins Jennifer Garner, Kate Hudson, Ty Burrell and Rob Corddry in the film that starts shooting next week in Louisiana.
Butter follows a young orphan who, after being adopted by a Midwestern family, discovers she has an uncanny talent for butter-carving. She eventually finds herself up against the ambitious wife of the retired reigning champion in a town’s annual butter-sculpting contest.
Greene will play a rebellious high school teenager named Kaitlen Pickler.
Garner is also producing with Alissa Phillips and Mike De Luca.
Twilight’ star Billy Burke to release a music album this summer
Anyone who’s watched the facial expressions and subtle tone shifts offered by Billy Burke in any of his films, but especially the Twilight series as the lovable Charlie Swan, knows that the guy is just extraordinary.
So, to hear that he’s making a very serious step into the world of music is surprising . . . and quite exciting!
Yesterday, Burke announced on his Twitter page that he is planning to release an album sometime this summer, and if he can get somewhere in the range of a million followers on his page, he’d be willing to give away “a few hundred thousand singles” and “shak[e] up the labels and suits.”
Burke, who’s been in the film industry for around twenty years, assured his fans that this was not going to be the typical actor-turned-mediocre-musician situation.
Said he, “I promise it won’t be what’s expected. I realize the bad taste it can leave in your mouth when an actor decides to take a musical ego trip..”
Burke is in the process, it seems, of preparing a website for interested fans to sign up at and keep tabs on details regarding his summer record release.
Secrets of the ‘New Moon’ DVD: Stephenie Meyer on Taylor Lautner’s Chippendales abs
The DVD of “New Moon,” the latest edition of “The Twilight Saga,” has been out for a couple of weeks, giving Twihards plenty of time to scope it out. The DVD features a pretty interesting making-of documentary, but the commentary is on the light side. One of the delights of the “Twilight” DVD commentary – Robert Pattinson’s self-deprecating, silly humor, and giggle fits – is sorely missed on this one.
Director Chris Weitz and editor Peter Lambert are fine, but their star power isn’t exactly off the charts, as they’d probably admit.
My favorite tidbits: Weitz noting that some people thinks Bella “screams like a stuck pig” in her missing-Edward angst; the fictional action flick Bella, Mike and Jacob go see is titled “Face Punch,” because practically every other dumb action title had already been used; and the scene where Taylor Lautner removes his shirt to display his spectacular six-pack used to be a wider-angle shot, held longer. They shortened it, and went to a tighter shot, Weitz says, because “Twilight” author Stephenie Meyer dismissed the first version as Jacob’s “Chippendales audition.”
Ashley Greene Previews ‘Incredible’ Footage From ‘Eclipse’
SAUGUS, California — These days, there are people who would gladly name their first-born child Renesmee if given the opportunity to see June 30′s “Eclipse” two months early. Granted, Ashley Greene has connections that give her a level of access no normal Twilighter could achieve — but recently, she saw a chunk of David Slade’s upcoming film and couldn’t help geeking out like any other Stephenie Meyer fan.
“I’m so excited about it!” Greene told us recently when we visited her on the set of “The Apparition,” a supernatural thriller that marks her first starring role.
In mid-March, Ashley was called in for “automated dialogue replacement,” a process used by movies in post-production to have actors dub in lines that need to be tweaked or added to the finished film. In order to do so, actors are typically shown the completed footage so they can time their line readings correctly.
“A month ago, I got together with David Slade and we did the whole ADR thing,” Greene recalled. “And every time I’m in ADR, I’m like, ‘Why don’t you just roll the scene? I just need to see the whole scene.’ ”
Naturally, we’re guessing any good Twilighter would do the same. As a result of Ashley’s “thorough” approach to ADR work, she was among the first to enjoy some soon-to-be-classic “Eclipse” goodies.
“I got to see a lot of footage from it,” Ashley said. “And it looks really amazing.
“For one, the werewolves just look incredible in this one,” Greene said, adding that the beastly transformations of Jacob Black and his buddies are much improved over their “Breaking Dawn” manifestations. “They looked good in the last one, but of course we’re always trying to outdo ourselves, and so they look really incredible.
“Then, the whole fight sequence that I’ve seen really looks amazing,” Greene said of another of her favorite moments in the film, which is expected to bring more action and blood than any of the previous “Twilight” movies. “We worked our tails off for it.”
Singling out one more moment, she added: “I definitely think there is one scene in particular between Jackson [Rathbone]‘s character Jasper and my character Alice that I think everyone is going to like.”
With just over two months left before the eagerly anticipated film’s release, Ashley left her “Twilight” fans with some encouraging words: “I don’t think anyone will be disappointed.”

TWILIGHT SAGA NEWS: MARCH 31ST
Author: kpic724 | Filed under: Author News, Book News, Movie News, News Blog‘Twilight’ fan reaches out to advice column, is told to ‘seek counseling’
Among Twilight fans, there are shades of devotion. Some people are casual fans who’ll pick up the books or go see the films, and others are rapacious, Saga-hungry fiends who’ll spend five days on the sidewalk just to see the New Moon premiere or sit outside behind a cramped barricade all day just on the off-chance they’ll see a glimpse of Robert Pattinson at work (Note: all types of Twilight fans are welcome here).
In one woman’s case, she has found that the Twilight series’ hold on her attention is getting to be a bit much, so she reached out to the L.A. Times/Chicago Tribune’s “Ask Amy” column for advice.
“I have been obsessed with these stories and have really grown attached to the primary male character . . . I feel like I am missing a lot all of a sudden, and I keep thinking about this character and wanting a love like he has,” she explained.

Another ‘Breaking Dawn’ Director To Consider: M. Night Shyamalan

Summit Entertainment is clearly gearing up to get moving on “Breaking Dawn,” the final entry in the “Twilight” (which still may or may not be released in two parts). There was a lot of talk over the last week or two about potential directors, with the names Gus Van Sant, Sofia Coppola, Bill Condon and Stephen Daldry all coming up as short-list possibilities. I put those options to a vote last week: Coppola got 40%, Van Sant got 27%, Condon got 18% and Daldry got 15%. So no clear majority.
Well I’m here today to make things even more confusing. This isn’t an official possibility on the table for Summit — as far as we know — but a noteworthy filmmaker professed his love for Stephenie Meyer’s vampire series in a chat on the Kid’s Choice Awards red carpet over the weekend: M. Night Shyamalan.
“I would’ve loved to be– I love the series, and Catherine [Hardwicke's] movie, it was one of my favorite movies of that year,” he said. “Really, I thought tonally, it was a perfect movie. I called her up after I saw ‘Twilight’ and was like ‘That was amazing.’ So I’m a big fan.”
Shyamalan just recently worked with “Twilight” star Jackson Rathbone on “The Last Airbender,” a live-action adaptation of the popular Japanese anime series “Avatar: The Last Airbender.” That movie hits theaters this summer, on July 2. Shyamalan is known for frequently screwing with viewers’ heads in hits like “The Sixth Sense” and “Unbreakable”; “Airbender” is a first for him, a big-budget, studio adaptation.
My own opinions of him as a filmmaker are mixed, but I’ve never claimed to be a “Twilight” expert. So I want to hear from you. Do you think Shyamalan is a good person for Summit to consider in weighing possible “Breaking Dawn” directors? Do you agree with his assessment of “Twilight” as “tonally” perfect? Would you pick him over the other directors whom we know are in the running?
“Twilight” Themed Episode Set For Wednesday’s
“America’s Next Top Model”
“Twilight” fans will have good reason to watch the next episode of “America’s Next Top Model” airing Wednesday, March 31. The theme of the show taps into Vampire and Werewolf fashion trends.
Clearly enjoying themselves, the judging panel get into character with full blown costuming and makeup. Tyra Banks makes for a very alluring Vampiress and Jay Manuel looks like a very believable Extra sent in from Central Casting. Of course, that makeover job didn’t take much effort as he always looks vaguely Vampire-like anyway.
The girls are all vying to avoid being eliminated of course and because of the extreme makeover situation, there’s plenty of tension as they all make the “Twilight” transformation. Which of the “Girl Next Door” types will make the scariest new member of the “undead” society?
Tune in on Wednesday, March 31 at 8 PM ET to find out!
A ‘Second Life’ for ‘Twilight’ Fans
You can burn it, bludgeon it or behead it, but a lucrative literary franchise just doesn’t stay down. (Same goes for vampires, apparently.) If you’ve admired the way the four volumes of Stephenie Meyer’s “Twilight Saga” fit neatly on your bookshelf, you’d better make room for a fifth. On her Web site (stepheniemeyer.com), Ms. Meyer, above, writes that she will be publishing a new work set in the “Twilight” universe, to be released by Little, Brown & Company on June 5. The novella, “The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner,” is told from the perspective of the title character, a newborn vampire who turns up briefly in the third “Twilight” novel, “Eclipse.” Ms. Meyer said the story was originally written for “The Twilight Saga: The Official Guide,” but was ultimately too long to include in that book. If the unsettling notion of newborn vampires keeps you from cracking open “The Short Second Life,” know that one dollar from each copy sold will go to — where else? — the American Red Cross.
Stephenie Meyer to release Twilight novella free online
Author Stephenie Meyer of the hugely successful Twilight teen vampire romance series will release her first new title in two years stemming from a character from her Eclipse novel.
The 36-year-old American author will release a 192-page novella for young readers called The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner on June 5, Little Brown book publishers said on Tuesday.
“I’m as surprised as anyone about this novella,” Meyer said in a statement, explaining that she wrote the story to give the point of view of the newborn vampire of Bree, who is featured in the third book in the Twilight series, Eclipse.
Meyer said she initially created the vampire drama about the darker side of the world that Bree inhabits as a short story until it “grew longer than I anticipated” and it was no longer suitable to include as planned in The Twilight Saga: The Official Guide.
“I’d always considered The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner as something for the fans,” said Meyer. The English-language version of the novella will be available to read for free online at www.breetanner.com from June 7 until July 5.
It will also be available in hardcover with pre-orders currently available on Amazon. One dollar from every US sale will go to the American Red Cross.
The character of Bree is also shown in the next movie adaptation of the book series, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, which is due to hit US cinemas in June.
The last movie adaptation of the book series, The Twilight Saga: New Moon grossed more than $US707 million worldwide, according to boxofficemojo.com.
In book form, Twilight and its sequels New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn, have sold 100 million copies worldwide, according to Little, Brown Book Group.

Author: Dawn | Filed under: Contests, News BlogOh, do we have a fun contest for you! Wiredset has generously given us two copies, of Christopher Moore’s brand new book Bite Me A Love Story, to give away.
First a bit about the author and the book:
Christopher Moore is the author of eleven previous novels: Practical Demonkeeping, Coyote Blue, Bloodsucking Fiends, Island of the Sequined Love Nun, The Lust Lizard of Melancholy Cove, Lamb, Fluke, The Stupidest Angel, A Dirty Job, You Suck, and Fool. He lives in San Francisco.
His Creatures of the Night are Vampires Like No Others…
BITE ME: A Love Story
By Christopher Moore
Let’s take a look at vampires, shall we?
There’s Nosferatu: a violent, brainless, insatiable scavenger out for blood…
Polidori’s Vampyre, Lord Ruthven: a handsome, aristocratic, sexually exciting figure with a hypnotic stare…
Bram Stoker’s Dracula: enigmatic, erudite and evil…
Ann Rice’s Lestat: sensitive, sensual, and emotional…
Stephanie Meyer’s Edward: beautiful, beguiling, and vegetarian…
And then there’s Christopher Moore’s vampires in his latest novel, BITE ME: A Love Story: Jody, a fiery redhead who used to work in insurance and her consort in blood C. Thomas Flood, a former Safeway stock boy who wants to be a writer.
BITE ME: A Love Story (On Sale March 23, 2010) wraps up the outrageous adventures begun in You Suck: A Love Story (2007) and Bloodsucking Fiends: A Love Story (1995). In it, Jody and Tommy live the undead life in San Francisco with their sidekick, Goth girl Abby Normal, otherwise known as Allison Green, and her bio-chem Ph.D candidate boyfriend, Steve “Foo Dog” Wong. The thing is, Jody and Tommy are imprisoned in a bronze shell in the pose of Rodin’s The Kiss.
Meanwhile, Chet, a giant shaved vampire cat and his recently turned meowing minions are on the prowl. As Abby says, “There’s nefarious shit afoot, Foo. Bring portable sun and fry these nosferatu kitties before they nom everyone in the hood.”
BITE ME: A Love Story is an inventive, hysterically funny, sophisticated comic horror novel with flamboyantly original (and endearing) characters, pitch-perfect postmodern dialogue, break-neck pacing, and utterly entertaining vignettes. BITE ME readers have a lot to sink their teeth into.

EXCLUSIVE: First Look At New ‘Twilight Unbound:
The Stephenie Meyer Story’ Hardcover Edition
It’s no surprise that Bluewater Productions’ comic book biography of “Twilight” author Stephenie Meyer sold well — very well, in fact — so it should probably be no surprise that yet another printing of the comic is headed to shelves.
Revealed exclusively to MTV News today, the publisher announced plans for a new, hardcover edition of “Twilight Unbound: The Stephenie Meyer Story,” featuring updated content and a brand new cover image. The edition will hit shelves in May before “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” arrives in theaters, and include post-”New Moon” updates on the cast and, of course, the creator of the “Twilight” books.
Read on for an exclusive first look at the new “Twilight Unbound: The Stephenie Meyer Story” hardcover edition cover, as well as the official text of the publisher’s announcement. MORE HERE
Kellan Lutz for PETA: Clothed, Pushing for Adoption
Come on, Kellan Lutz.
It’s not enough that you have a ridiculous body? You also need to love animals and pose with puppies more adorable than all the Twilight Saga stars combined?
The actor stars in a new PETA campaign. Unfortunately, he isn’t naked, like so many other animal-loving celebrities have been when appearing in ads for this organization.
But Lutz still has an important message to send, as the poster below reads: “Buying Animals Is Killing Animals. Save a Homeless Dog or Cat – Always Adopt and Never Buy.”
Said the actor:
“There are surprisingly so many animals in these animal shelters. It’s sad, and knowing that they get euthanized… and there’s a lot you can do… spay or neuter your pets so that doesn’t happen.”
Seriously, Kellan. You already have a hard body. Must you match it with a soft heart?
Leave some girls for the rest of us, will ya? SOURCE
I enjoyed the little tidbit that Rob Pattinson wanted to do Remember Me because it was set in New York City. I am a mere train ride from NYC so this is very appealing to me. I wish he would come back!!
I think it is getting to be a bit much with all the merchandise coming out for the Twilight Saga. Wouldn’t a simple biography suffice? They have to create an elaborate comic book about Stephanie Meyer’s life which they know will sell like hotcakes, which is probably the only reason they are doing it.
Oh man, Kellan does it again. He doesn’t even need to be pant-less to make a girls heart melt, and a man with a dog clearly sends the girls flocking even more.

Fans of Stephenie Meyer’s ‘Twilight Saga’ find religious themes lurk within vampires, werewolves
It’s only four books and two movies.
So what can account for the “Twilight Saga’s” almost supernatural pull on the public’s imagination? Not to mention the corresponding millions of dollars in book and box office sales?
According to some fans of the best-selling books and the box office record-breaking movies, the allure goes deeper than entertainment.
Some fans say they find religious themes in Stephenie Meyer’s hit “Twilight” series
“What elevates the ‘Twilight’ phenomenon from being merely boy-meets-girl, is that the ‘ever after’ is a lot longer because Edward (the vampire hero of the series, played by Robert Pattinson in the films) is immortal,” said Claudia Mair Burney, the author of several books, including the Exorsistah series for young adults.
“He’s a very powerful being who could destroy Bella (the teenage heroine played by Kristen Stewart in the films), but his love is so sacrificial it doesn’t remotely resemble a human relationship.”

Fan effect on ‘The Twilight Saga: New Moon’ set revealed
The Twilight Saga: New Moon’s filming process was definitely an experience for fans. “Looking into the fishbowl,” as some have called it, was what fans did throughout the entire production process, and, apparently, Twilight series fans made quite a sting on the art department’s progress – for better or for worse – in putting together the sets.
An art direction professional from New Moon and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse recounted his experience in preparing the set in December/January’s issue of Perspective.
The author described, in detail, the experience of when the house belonging to “Jacob Black” was discovered.
I was a bit surprised when a woman pushing a baby carriage trundled up and said hello. “That’s for a movie, isn’t it?” she asked. … As warmly as I could, I ducked; “Oh, you know, don’t you think someone could just get tired of green and decide to paint their place red?” She shot back, “Sure, but they wouldn’t keep painting over everything until it looked real old. It’s Jacob’s house isn’t it?” … She contended that my evasiveness — in contradiction to the evidence in the meadow — made it very likely that she had discovered a major Vancouver location for New Moon.
Jacob’s house was a key venue in Twilight Saga novels by Stephenie Meyer, but had not appeared in the first movie — so this was a big find. The fan sites were electrified. The next day another fan … posted a drive-by video of the location with her voiceover explanation of why this was surely Jacob’s place.

iPhone App Creator Helps Fans Connect With Celebrities

Feel the need to turn a cute photo of your toddler into a bloody vampire portrait?
Glastonbury’s Robert DeFranco — CEO of 211me, a celebrity iPhone applications company — has created a unique app (application software, for those older than 42) and several others for that neglected and overlooked segment of society: The celebrity.
DeFranco, a native of Sudbury, Mass., is carving out a living by dreaming up and designing celebrity-based iPhone applications to help connect actors, musicians, and athletes with their fans.
“Vampire Transformer,” which adds charming blood, red eyes and fangs to any photo on one’s iPhone, is a popular app for which thousands of fans of the “Twilight” series have paid 99 cents. DeFranco and friend Peter Facinelli of “Twilight” fame came up with the program after successfully launching their first project — a personal, customized app that allows the actor to post family videos and other exclusive content for serious fans. AGAINST THE CURRENT Movie Trailer with Joseph Fiennes
Check out the trailer for AGAINST THE CURRENT starring Joseph Fiennes, Justin Kirk, Elizabeth Reaser, Mary Tyler Moore, Michelle Trachtenberg, and directed by Peter Callahan.
Against The Current Synopsis: Against the Current is the story of Paul Thompson, (Joseph Fiennes), a man who sets out to swim the entire length of the Hudson River — all 150 miles, from Troy, NY to Manhattan. Joining Paul is his best friend since childhood, Jeff (Justin Kirk) and Liz (Elizabeth Reaser), a teacher with nothing better to do during her summer break. Together, the trio embarks upon an unusual road trip, a three-week adventure down the Hudson.
Adamant that they reach New York City by August 28, Paul keeps everyone on a tight schedule. Rain or shine, he swims, while his friends ride alongside in a boat, stopping each night to camp along the river’s edge. However, the journey soon takes a troubling turn when Paul reveals that there is more to this adventure than Jeff and Liz originally thought. Paul, who is still grieving a tragic loss, feels that after he completes this swim he will truly have nothing left to live for.
Realizing that the only way to help Paul is to continue with the swim, Jeff and Liz agree to stay on. And so with each passing stroke, a gallows humor settles over the three as they find themselves debating the finer points of jelly donuts, sex, and death. As the jokes and one-liners mix with deeper exchanges, the journey down river becomes a battle not only to save a friend, but to also discover what it is they ultimately seek inside themselves.
Both tragic and funny, Against the Current is a compelling and uncompromising exploration of sorrow and loss, one’s right to determine one’s own fate, and the limits and responsibilities of friendship.
Watch the trailer for Against The Current below.
Youtube pick of the week: a guys point of view on the Twilight saga
This week I came upon a group of videos that is the best. The people that make these videos are called HISHEdotcom also known as How It Should Have Ended. They have 24 endings to popular movies like “Avatar” and “Transformers.”
For the article I have chosen to go with the “Twilight” remake. The scene starts where Edward has to choose to either let Bella change into a vampire or suck out the venom that will change her.
This is a wake-up call to all the ladies in the world. This is how “Twilight” would have ended if a woman didn’t write it. If it was written by a man it could have gone down two different ways. It could take the Nicholas Sparks way where Edward would have turned her and lived happily ever after, or the Stephen King way where Edward wouldn’t have been able to stop and would have killed Bella.
The very end is funny also; Edward and Blade (the half vampire half human who kills vampires) are in a tree together. They are talking about how vampires can walk around during the daytime. This sparked a question in my mind, who would win, Edward or Blade? Then the winner would have to fight Buffy.
This video is how “Twilight” should have ended. It is better than the real ending, at least from a guy’s view. ‘Til next week, stay classy, Washburn.

YOUR CURE FOR SUPERNATURAL WITHDRAWAL: MIKE CAREY’S CASTOR NOVELS

We won’t get any new Supernatural until Jan. 21 — but luckily, there’s an awesome substitute. Longtime Vertigo Comics superstar Mike Carey has been writing supernatural thrillers that are every bit as addictive and tangled, featuring a wise-ass exorcist. Spoilers?
If you’ve read Vertigo titles like Hellblazer or Lucifer in the past decade or so, you’re already a fan of Carey’s writing. In particular, his epic run on Lucifer kept the intrigues of Heaven and Hell constantly surprising, with a shifting set of loyalties and fascinating characters. Not to mention, Carey wrote one of my all-time favorite miniseries: My Faith In Frankie, the story of a girl and her personal god.

VAMPIRES HAVE EXTRA BITE BUT STARS LOSE THEIR SHINE

THIS year must surely go down in history as the year of the vampire – on our cinema and TV screens and on our book shelves.
“Absolutely,” agrees Su Mwamba, of Waterstone’s Derby. “Stephenie Meyer has helped create a whole new genre and in the young adult market there’s a raft of new authors who have come out with books similar to Twilight.
“That has crossed over to adult fiction and the ‘supernatural romance’, as it’s called, has grown so much that it now has its own bay in the shop. Before this year we used to keep supernatural romance within horror, but now these vampire and werewolf novels and the like have become their own paranormal romance section.”
Mel Harris, also of Waterstone’s, says: “Our fascination with vampires and ghoulish romance looks set to continue in 2010.
