NEW MOON SNAGS FOUR “RAZZIE” AWARD NOMINATIONS

from examiner.com:

All the money at the worldwide box office and the adoration of nearly every female with the ability to read were still not enough to prevent the phenomenon known as the Twilight series from receiving Golden Raspberry, or Razzie, nominations.

The Razzies are the only movie awards organization designed to celebrate – or is that denigrate? – the worst films of the year.

Twilight: New Moon received abominations – sorry – nominations for Worst Supporting Actor (Robert Pattinson) Worst Couple (Kristen Stewart plus Pattinson or Taylor Lautner) Worst Screenplay, and Worst Remake, Ripoff, or Sequel.

Thank God for the DVR!  I’ll be sure to set mine to record Robert on “The View” and then I can fast forward to his appearance and ignore the rest.

The videos that Zap2It compiled really show how he’s grown up.  I still have trouble ogling him like many women do, though…see jailbait reference above!

Something tells me that the folks at Summit don’t really care all that much about the Razzie awards.  They’re too busy going “cha-ching! cha-ching!” while counting the piles of cash that fill their coffers from the film.

It’s nice to hear something about Michael Welch in the news – he tends to get overlooked by a lot of the media.  Poor Newton…

Christina Ricci Joining Robert Pattinson In ‘Bel Ami’

from mtv.com:

“New York, I Love You” star Christina Ricci is reportedly joining Robert Pattinson and Uma Thurman in the film “Bel Ami,” according to a tweet from ProductionWeekly.com. A rep for Ricci had not responded to MTV News’ requests for comment at press time.

“Bel Ami,” filming for which is slated to begin next month in Paris, is an adaptation of an 1885 Guy de Maupassant short story and stars Pattinson as young journalist George Duroy, who rises from rags to riches by seducing Paris’ influential society women. Ricci will play Clotilde de Marelle, the wife of an oft-away railway inspector who strikes up a relationship with Duroy. The film also stars Thurman as Clotilde’s friend Madeleine Forestier, a onetime friend and mentor who becomes Duroy’s lover, and Kristin Scott Thomas as another of Duroy’s socialite paramours.

‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn,’ the quest for a director

from examiner.com:

To those who are still keeping score, the vetting pool for a director of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn continues to deepen by the very day.

The more castmates that speak on the matter, the more potential selections there are. (Not to mention, fans themselves have their own opinions on the matter of director-choosing.)

It all started back in August, when we discussed the fact that fans want The Twilight Saga: New Moon director Chris Weitz to come back and helm the fourth (and perhaps fifth, if there is one). A vociferous “Yes!” was exclaimed almost universally throughout the comments.

Peter Facinelli…Because He’s Just So Darn Cute

How can you not love Peter Facinelli?!  He does an outstanding job of playing our favorite doctor-vampire, he has a great sense of humor, and loves his wife and kids.  He recently posted this on his Twitter account and you can’t help but get

My 3 year old makes me dance to this song every night before she goes to bed. Now its stuck in my head. BOUNCE… http://tinyurl.com/ykda9ul

Now that the Bel Ami casting is falling in place, it’s evident that Hollywood certainly thinks much more of Robert than many of the bloggers do.  That’s a pretty impressive cast that they are pulling together!

The Examiner article doesn’t really tell us much that we don’t already know, but it puts several opinions all in one place to get a feel for what the cast members are thinking about directorial choices.  I’m with Peter…I want Chris Weitz back!!

While there are no earth-shattering revelations in the Rob interview, I always enjoy listening to him speak.  He could sit and read a cookbook and I’d be captivated by it.

Ashley’s upcoming movie sounds interesting.  I like the fact that it’s reported to be based on true events…but we heard that this fall with “Paranormal Activity”, right?  LOL!

If you aren’t already following Peter Facinelli on Twitter, I highly recommend that you do.  He doesn’t just use it for his own self-promotion.  He does a lot of good with it, particularly for Red Cross blood drives and for Alex’s Lemonade Stand.  The insight into his personality and character just from his Twitter account is amazing.

TWILIGHT SAGA NEWS DECEMBER 30TH

Out With the Aughts: Abstinent Vampires Are the New Black

Vampires have had a startling resurgence of late, crawling out of the coffin-like obscurity of black-and-white filmography to terrorize contemporary popular culture. Television series such as True Blood and Vampire Diaries have become hugely popular, to say nothing of the uncontested lord of neo-Nosferatu culture – Stephenie Meyer’s book-turned-movie series Twilight.

This year, the second film instalment of the series, New Moon, came out to record-breaking box-office numbers. But it didn’t just contribute to the usual teenage pop consumption, the frustratingly reserved girl-meets-vampire love story gave teens a valuable lesson: don’t have sex.

Twilight Franchise Takes Bite Out of Bronzer As Youth Get Ghostly

Love-struck fictional teenagers Bella Swan and Edward Cullen have cast their pale, brooding spell over cosmetics customers across Canada.Retail stores are reporting a surge of demand for vampire-influenced makeup on the heels of the popular Twilight series.

Jane McKay, a senior artist with MAC Cosmetics in Toronto, says younger customers bewitched by the pallid lovers aren’t coming for bronzer anymore. They want lighter foundation and pale powder. MAC will be launching a Pale ‘n Dandy trend this spring to respond to the demand.

“I definitely think (Twilight) is where it started,” McKay says.

“They’re really influenced. They’re in love with Bella, and they love the story, and I think it’s almost crossed over into their real lives.”

2009: The Year of “The Twilight Saga: New Moon”

For Twilight fans at least, the year 2009 was invariably the year of The Twilight Saga: New Moon. Of course, in the beginning, there was still a fair amount of Twilight excitement lingering, what with fans continuing to see the film in theaters (or, let’s be honest, on the internet) time and time again and DVD release parties across the country. Yet, the principle attention-grabber in our world was New Moon.

At first, it was casting. There were quite a few roles to fill for New Moon, and we anxiously waited for those announcements to trickle down the pike. It started with Bronson Pelletier, who was rumored to have scored a part in the wolfpack. Then there was Dakota Fanning, who her co-stars were supporting for the part of “Jane.” Then a few photos of the current wolfpack out and about led to even more rumors. Finally, the announcement came out and it was time to inspect.

“New Moon” Named Best Movie of 2009

‘Twilight’ sequel ‘New Moon’ has been voted the best movie of 2009 in a new poll.

Conducted by AOL movie Web site Moviefone.com, heartthrob Robert Pattinson took away the title for Sexiest Male star, with 46.5pct votes, while co-star Taylor Lautner was named Best Male Breakout star.

‘New Moon’ was also ranked as the year’s champ “chick flick.”

I find it the impact that Stephenie Meyer’s books have had to be unbelievably fascinating.  To have young girls waiting for “the right guy” to have sex because of what they’ve read in her books is a cultural coup!  Throw in the fact that girls are going for a paler complexion because of the characters in the books and movies, and we may see a generation of healthier people in the future – fewer STDs, a reduction in the teen pregnancy rate, and reduced skin cancer rates from increased use of sunscreen and girls staying out of tanning beds.

I enjoyed reading Examiner’s look back at the year and all things “New Moon”.  It was fun to follow the production of the film this year.  It’s hard to believe that “Eclipse” has already been shot and is in post-production.

TWILIGHT SAGA NEWS DECEMBER 29TH

Twilight’ Actress Gives Special Gift to Quileute Children

Actress Tinsel Korey, who plays a supporting role in the film, “The Twilight Saga: New Moon,” gave a Christmas treat to all of the students at the Quileute Tribal School.

Each student received a personally autographed photo from Korey.

September visit

Korey had visited LaPush and Neah Bay in September to talk about acting with the students at the tribal schools.

In the movie, Korey plays Emily, who is the girlfriend of Sam Uley, who is the “alpha” in the werewolf pack.

The werewolves developed in the series to protect humans from vampires.

The books focus on star-crossed lovers Bella, a human, and Edward, a vampire — who feeds only on animal blood.

“Tinsel autographed the photos after her visit in the fall for each student, and I wanted them to receive them for a special occasion,” said Jackie Jacobs, tribal publicist.

Twilight Speculation About the Eclipse Trailer Debut

Now that Twilight and New Moon are cinematic history, Twilight Saga attention has shifted to the Twilight Saga Eclipse, which is currently being edited under the Twilight direction of David Slade. The big question surrounding Eclipse that fans of Twilight andNew Moon want to know is when the Eclipse trailer will make its debut.

Early Twilight Saga speculation has it that the Twilight Saga Eclipse trailer will appear during the broadcast of the Academy Awards on March 7. Why and where the Eclipse trailer speculation comes from is anyone’s Twilight guess since Summit Entertainment hasn’t rolled out marketing for Eclipse. With such a big event like the Oscars, why not guess thatthe Eclipse trailer will make its debut at such a widely viewed broadcast? Does the Twilight Saga Eclipse fit with an Oscar audience? Since so much of New Moon was rolled out at events like the Teen Choice Awards and the multiple MTV awards, the Academy Awards ceremony feels out of place in relation to the audience of Eclipse. But that’s just us …

Jackson Rathbone to Raise Cancer Awareness in Tribute Concert

Jackson Rathbone will soon prove that he is aware of health issues. In April 2010, the Jasper Hale of “Twilight Saga” film series and his band 100 Monkeys will fly to Texas to host a concert which aims to raise awareness of adrenal cancer.

At the upcoming gig, Jackson and 100 Monkeys are going to pay tribute to musician Spencer Bell, who passed away in December 2006 after suffering adrenal cancer. They will join The Stevedores, Drew and the Medicinal Pen, and Tin Tin Can to participate at the concert that will include playing several songs from Spencer’s albums.

New Moon Earns Top Spot for Most Mistakes in 2009

Maybe Twilight Saga: New Moon is not as perfect as we all thought, but we’ll still love it anyways! MovieMistakes.com ranked the top 15 Biggest Movie Mistakes of 2009 and New Moon tied for fourth with 29 mistakes. Could be worse though, Zack Efron’s 17 Again was No. 1 with 94 mistakes!

The site lists some of the New Moon mistakes that you may not have noticed the first time around.

“When Bella is in the parking lot at school in the beginning, Edward walks toward her. Bella’s hair is neatly pulled off to the side,” one of the mistakes posted said. “When he leans in for the kiss it is suddenly stuck to her forehead, and when Edward tells her Jacob wants her, it’s suddenly back to normal.”

Aww…I think that it’s really sweet that Tinsel Korey took the time to personalize each autograph for the kids at the tribal school.

I would love for the Eclipse trailer to run during the Oscars broadcast – that’s several days before Remember Me opens and I’m banking on the trailer running before that movie, seeing how the Remember Me trailer went to theaters when New Moon opened.

I love that Jackson’s band is using their fame to honor their friend and raise awareness for a deadly disease.  That says a lot about the guy in my book – using his fame to change things and not acting like a Hollywood punk.

As far as the movie mistakes go, it doesn’t change how much I loved the movie.  And…29 looks pretty good when you consider that the #2 and #3 spots on the list had 71 mistakes each!

TWILIGHT SAGA NEWS FOR DECEMBER 21ST

BRYCE DALLAS HOWARD PROMISES JUICY BLOCKBUSTER IN ELCIPSE!

www.mtv.comMTV: It’s no secret that you entered the franchise under less-than-ideal circumstances. What kinds of things did the other actors say and do in those early days?

Bryce Dallas Howard: What’s so great about that group of people is that they feel so genuinely blessed by this experience. Just by the response of the fans. But they’ve remained so grounded, and their friendships are genuine. I just felt really, really fortunate to get to meet all these wonderful people.

MTV: Kristen Stewart recently told us that you were “such a good actress” during the “Eclipse” shoot that “it was easy to be scared” of you. What were your thoughts working with her while she continued to develop such an iconic role?

Howard: Kristen is fantastic and so, so passionate about this role and this character. First, as a fan of the books, it was such a relief to go onto set and see how seriously everyone was taking it. And, yeah, Kristen was incredible to work with, incredible.

MTV: You were a “Twilight” fan before you even got the role. In your opinion, which of Stephenie Meyer’s books is the best?

Howard: I love these books, and “Eclipse” for me is [the best one]; I’m partial to “Eclipse.” And that was true even before “Twilight” came out.

TWILIGHT STARS IN SEPERATE DEVELOPMENTS

www.news.com.au: TAYLOR Lautner is in talks to star in a new film as fellow Twilight star Kristen Stewart says she had to become left-handed for her latest movie role.

Lautner is reportedly in talks to appear in a remake of Vision Quest.

E! News claims that the Twilight vampire could take on the lead role in the romance, originally released in 1985.

The film, which is still in development, shares its producers with the Twilight movies.

“Taylor saw (the script) and is really excited about it,” a source said. “It’s very much in line with his athleticism. His character is someone who’s striving for greatness.”

Warner Bros, who own the rights to the film, confirmed that a remake is in development.

Stewart, 19, who plays US female rocker Joan Jett in the biopic The Runaways, spent time with the iconic rocker to study her mannerisms, Teen Hollywood reports.

PETER FACINELLI’S PLANS FOR 2010

www.examiner.com: When Twilight Lexicon asked Facinelli what the year 2010 held in store for Facinelli, he revealed that his plans stood waiting in the balance of what his commitments held in store for him – particularly with The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn and a possible third season of his Showtime series hit Nurse Jackie.

Right now I’m looking forward to the holiday break. Next year there’s a couple of movies I’m looking at doing in the spring. There’s a movie that I wrote that I’m trying to get off the ground. I’d like to do a movie in the spring to early summer and then hopefully, you know, if we do Nurse Jackie III I’ll be back in the fall. And if we do Breaking Dawn I’ll be back in the fall/winter hopefully. Everything’s kind of up in the air with the end of Nurse Jackie III and Breaking Dawn. So that… I have to sit and wait. But right now I have a window between January and August that I can stuff. Right now I’m just seeing what I want to do.
