Alexander Skarsgard Doesn’t Wear a Sock During Nude Scenes

via Us Weekly
Photobucket
The cast of HBO’s True Blood not only strip down for the new Rolling Stone — they also bare all about shooting the show’s racy sex scenes.

Says Alexander Skarsgard (who plays sexy vamp Eric): “I don’t want a sock around it, that feels ridiculous. If we’re naked in the scene, then I’m naked. I’ve always been that way.”

Anna Paquin says she covers up — somewhat. She reveals that she wears a “patch” – a thong-like attire with the sides cut off – while filming nude scenes as her character Sookie Stackhouse.

As for her costar (and real-life fiance) Stephen Moyer (who plays Sookie’s vamp love Bill Compton)? He wears a sock on set — out of consideration for others

Getting Lost with Damon Lindelof and ‘Heroes’ creator Tim Kring

By Dennis Nishi at The Wall Street Journal
Photobucket
Tucked between the Porn Star Guide to Great Sex and a coffee table book on Vanessa Del Rio, Tim Kring (”Heroes”) and Damon Lindelof (”Lost”) put on a show for eager fans at Book Soup in Hollywood Tuesday night. They were there to promote and sign copies of Kring’s first novel “Shift,” which was released last week by Crown Publishing. They also chatted about their careers and future plans. The two writers had previously worked together on the now defunct NBC series “Crossing Jordan,” which Kring created in 2001. Lindelof was a writer on the show for three years before he left to work with J.J. Abrams on “Lost.”

From then on, Kring’s interest in the supernatural became a reoccurring theme in his writing and he went on to write and/or produce “Teen Wolf Too,” “Chicago Hope,” “Providence,” “Crossing Jordan” and most recently, “Heroes”. In regards to the later, both denied any implicit plot connections between “Lost” and “Heroes,” though Kring did say that the two shows were first cousins thematically. Lindelof added that the shows were actually first cousins that had sex with each other regularly.

Lost epilogue leaked online: Our spoiler-laden review!

By Scott Edelman at Blastr

We thought we were going to have to wait until those Lost DVDs and Blu-rays were released Aug. 24 to catch that 12-minute epilogue and learn what Ben and Hurley got up to during the post-Jack era. But we were wrong. (And you won’t believe who’s back!)

YouTube user oilery has posted the full epilogue “The New Man in Charge” (which is probably vanishing even as we type these words), but we thought we’d tell you what we saw and what we thought of it.

And let’s just say it one more time—spoilers ahead!

Keck’s Exclusives: Jane Badler to Revive Diana on V’s Season Premiere

by William Keck at TV Guide

Thank you Scott Rosenbaum for just making V a thousand times cooler. After the executive producer let slip at Comic-Con that he’d be introducing Anna’s mother in V‘s November season premiere — and that her name would be Diana, fans went bonkers. I personally begged Rosenbaum to cast Jane Badler (so deliciously evil as lizard villainess Diana in NBC’s original ’80s V series) as this new incarnation of Diana, and word has just reached me that he has indeed awarded Jane the role. Woo-hoo!

When V returns, we will learn that Anna (Morena Baccarin) is keeping her mother prisoner on the mother ship in a never-before-seen section that has been designed to look like the Visitors’ home planet.

‘Primeval’ star ‘loves sci-fi shows’

By Morgan Jeffery at Digital Spy

Alexander Siddig has revealed that he enjoys playing roles in science-fiction shows.

The actor played Dr. Julian Bashir on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and will join the cast of Primeval for the show’s upcoming fourth series.

He told UGO: “I will always have a soft spot, as long as I live, for doing crazy, geeky sci-fi shows. And I hope to goodness that people keep offering me them because I love them.”

However, he admitted that he was initially keen to distance himself from the genre when Deep Space Nine ended in 1999.

The 11 greatest, craziest sci-fi crossovers in television history

By Alasdair Wilkins at io9
Photobucket
Tonight’s conclusion of the already epic Eureka/Warehouse 13 crossover is just scratching the surface of science fiction’s greatest TV crossovers. Well, we really ought to start here, shouldn’t we? We’ve already gushed about how much we’re loving this awesome crossover between Syfy’s two biggest shows, and I’ll have more to say about the Eureka side of the crossover tomorrow morning. Until then… Claudia. Fargo. Spiders. Lightsabers. Kissing. Enjoy.

Star Trek: The Next Generation meets Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: As the only two Star Trek shows to share the airwaves and the same quadrant of space, The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine were the two most natural crossover partners. And although there were occasional guest appearances and even a couple characters who moved permanently from one show to the other, we never got the big epic team-up that we all know we deserved.

See the Rest (with videos) here

Do you like crossover episodes? What do you think of the True Blood and Lost spoilers? What do you think of the call-back to the original V series?

Looking for a new show to get obsessed with now that Lost is over? We sure are. We’ve been hurt before, though. FlashForward promised to be good to us but left us crying in a tub of Haagen-Dazs. But come September, NBC will be offering The Event to viewers who are ready to take a chance on another big mystery.

The show’s producers and stars laid out the reasons The Event could be our new Lost when they spoke at the Television Critics Association press tour on July 30 in Beverly Hills, Calif.

THOSE MISTAKES HEROES MADE? HERE’S HOW THE CAPE PLANS NOT TO MAKE THEM
Source: blastr.com

Remember when Heroes first started and it was like the best thing ever? People were saying, “Save the cheerleader, save the world” and wondering how they were going to stop Peter from exploding? But three years later, Heroes fizzled out, and now we’re left wondering … is it safe to get excited about another NBC superhero show?

Uh, yes. Think positive, people. The Cape, coming early next year, is about a framed cop who dresses like his son’s favorite comic-book hero to fight crime. The first big difference from Heroes is that The Cape will have weekly crimes to solve, not so much discovering little things each week. That was creator Tom Wheeler’s pitch to NBC.

Wow, a whole heaps of news today! Which one excites you the most? I have to say The Cape is sounding more interesting as I hear more about it.

Stargate Universe Season 2 Will be Tougher, Darker, More Depressing

By Nix at Sci Fi Cool
Photobucket
As if being forced to sit through a single episode’s worth of storyline stretched out unmercifully into three draaaaaaaaaagging episodes, as well as a season ending cliffhanger wasn’t “tough”, “dark”, and “depressing” enough, the “Stargate: Universe” producers are promising even harder times for our stranded heroes in the show’s upcoming Season 2.

Cooper revealed that Everett Young, played by Louis Ferreira, will “feel some pain” in the new episodes

He explained: “After everything he’s been through – and it gets worse for him initially at the beginning of season two – it’s impossible to imagine that a person wouldn’t go to a very dark place at least for a short period of time.”

“Warehouse 13″ has quite a selection of special guest stars for its upcoming sophomore season, including a minor “Firefly” reunion, a crossover with “Eureka” and a few established faces from the science-fiction genre.

Now, the series has another name to be excited about: David Anders.

Fresh off of stints in “The Vampire Diaries” and “24″ this season, Anders has signed on for a guest role on the popular Syfy series. And, just like all his other roles, no one is really sure who he is or what side he is even batting for.

The 10 most disappointing female characters in sci-fi TV

by Sarah Jayne Brereton at Den of Geek
Photobucket
Surely I can get an ‘amen’ from my geek sisters when I point out that we watch sci-fi too? So, why are there so few good female characters in science fiction television?

Certainly, things have improved slightly in recent years, but for every Kara Thrace there are a slew of disappointing female characters in her wake. At best, most female characters on sci-fi shows are annoyingly stereotypical and, at worst, are introduced as pointless eye candy.

Anastasia “Dee” Dualla – Battlestar Galactica: Dualla had the potential to be such a rich and empowering character. On a show that otherwise boiled over with strong female images, from Starbuck to President Roslin, there would have been more than enough room to bring to the foreground the strong black female character that is so clearly lacking from sci-fi television. It would be refreshing to watch the development of a black female character that could be given more to do on a show than merely repeat out loud what she has heard in earphones.

LOST Analysis Whatever Happened Vs. Alternate Time Line Debate

by Christina Dagnelli at Suite101
Photobucket
Fans of LOST have been debating the element of time travel most of season five. Are they in an alternate time line or is this what always happened?

Since Jack started yelling “We have to go back” many have wondered why. Why go back, for what reason? There is no definitive answer to that question but there are many possibilities.

Could this be a big loopy circle-and the reason they needed to go back is because they had parts to play in Dharma 1977-because that is what always happened? Or is it, they are just on this crazy ride, they were never in 1977 originally and there is no known answer to why they have to come back.

Sneak Peek at Futurama! Plus, Our Conversation With Billy West

by Andrew Moseman at Discover Magazine
Photobucket
Robot-human intermarriage. The Harlem Globetrotters performing mathematical wizardry. Hearing, “Good news, everyone!” when bad news is on the way. It means one thing: Futurama is back.

The interstellar travels of the Planet Express crew—canceled by Fox in 2003 but kept alive by syndication, straight-to-DVD movies, and the unstoppable force of geek fandom—return with 26 fresh episodes on Comedy Central, starting with a full hour on June 24 at 10PM eastern.

Discover Magazine: Let’s get the obvious out of the way first: During the hiatus, what was the turning point when you felt like this was really going to happen?

Billy West: Because, I think, the Futurama movies sold well, it gave them an indication of who was still out there. So as I’ve maintained all along, the super fans of this show kept it alive. It’s too good to go away. That’s my feeling.

Fans feign blackout to protest FlashForward’s demise

By Andrew John at Digital Journal

Fans have staged one of the most unusual protests in TV history to protest at the axing of their favourite sci-fi series: they dropped to the ground and stayed there for 2 minutes, 17 seconds.

They were recreating the worldwide blackout that was central to the action in ABC’s FlashForward. As the programme title suggests, the population of the world were able to see incidents from their future during their blackout.
ABC cancelled the show after one series – leaving the story on a cliffhanger. Disgruntled fans decided to stage their own blackouts yesterday outside ABC offices in New York, Atlanta, Seattle, Toronto, Detroit, Chicago, Los Angeles and London.

New ‘Vampire Diaries’ Season 2 Poster Looks Awesome!

by Chad Langen at Reel Empire

New ‘Vampire Diaries’ season 2 poster looks awesome! It seems like just yesterday that The CW announced they’d be developing a series called “The Vampire Diaries” which would be based upon the best-selling book series of the same name. Now, the first season has already come and gone and needless to say, I don’t think anybody was surprised to see the show renewed for a second season.

Photobucket

In addition to the network’s announcement regarding “The Vampire Diaries” returning for a second season, there is also word that viewers will see werewolves. If you remember the shocking season finale, which had one hell of a cliffhanger, we saw a glimpse of the werewolves and according to various reports, that was just the first of many times we’ll be seeing them.

Stargate Universe: Why Aren’t You Watching It?

By Alex Zalben at UGO
Photobucket
So you remember a few months ago, when Stargate Universe first premiered on Syfy? And you were all like, “This? This is what they’re replacing Battlestar with? A third Stargate series?” Well, I’m here to tell you, you were wrong.

But first, let’s take a step back. We don’t know how the pitch for this show went down months (or more likely, years) ago, but SGU certainly wears its DNA on its sleeve*. It has the look of Battlestar Galactica, the rough plot of Star Trek Voyager, and the sprawling cast/overarching mystery elements of LOST. Plus, you know, with the whole Stargate thing. So no one is going to argue this is the most original show of all time – and over the course of the season, it hasn’t done a whole lot to buck those ideas.

But beyond that, it’s actually somehow, miraculously managed to transform itself into its own show. The cast is still so big that I don’t know many of the character’s names… But the ones I do have grown into unique, interesting people, like Eli, the regular guy nerd who has evolved into one of the heroes of the show.

Read More here

Stargate Universe is hardly a Stargate show (since they can’t even use the stargate), but it’s interesting. It’s a good sci fi show for people who prefer character driven shows. I’ll admit I’ve never seen Flash Forward, but the previews did a horrible job explaining what it was about. But more and more often campaigns by fans to save a show have worked; look at Futurama (!) and Chuck.

What do you think of a Vampire spoof TV show? Are you a fan of Flash Forward?

LOST’S SIDEVERSE… IS A FACEBOOK PAGE? -AND MORE

Source: scifiwire.com

Here’s a list of our hottest stories and best comments this week (Lost’s finale received lots of attention from haters and lovers alike), in case you missed anything. Think of this week-ending roundup as a DVR for SCI FI Wire.

Enjoy!

……
Our story: 119 things Lost did (and didn’t) answer

Your best comment: I keep hearing people say the answer to the pregnacies was that they were dead! They weren’t dead, Christian says in the finale that everyone died at different times, some before and some after Jack. They weren’t all dead on the island. The pregnacy issue is simple…there was an atom bomb set off on the island…— ranric

Our story: POLL: Did Lost’s series finale deliver?

Your best comments: so basically, the sideverse is an afterlife facebook page where you can connect with old friends.— jmaguire

….

Maybe this will simplify things. Mentally edit all the Sideways stuff out of Season Six and stick it at the end. Think of the SidewaysVerse as an Epilogue or Extreme FlashFoward.

So Jack closes his eyes for the last time in the bamboo patch and opens them again on the plane as it safely lands.

I think that the ironic / somewhat confusing part is that the sidewaysverse really has nothing to do with the Island itself. In theory, it could have been the end of -any- show… as characters who meant a lot to each other find each other in the afterlife and remember each other.

The sidewaysverse / purgatory was entirely about the characters. It really didn’t have much to do with the mythology of the Island.

Heh. I’d love them to air the series… with every scene aired in chronological order. that means even the time travel stuff… — melsner
