What do you think of Stephenie Meyer’s comments on people tattooing themselves with imagery from her books?  Do you have any Twilight-inspired tattoos?  If not, would you get one?

Kudos to Kellan for his hard work in New Orleans.  The city and many other towns along the Gulf Coast are still reeling from the devastation that Hurricane Katrina brought ashore.  It’s heartwarming to know that their needs are still being acknowledged by so many five years after the storm.  It will take many more years to restore that region.

I am really looking forward to seeing “Welcome To the Rileys”.  I love James Gandolfini and it will be interesting to see Kristen in a different role.

What do you think of the Taylor Lautner RV lawsuit/push-up challenge?  In all honesty, I wonder if Taylor even knew about the suit being filed before it went viral over the Internet.  It’s not uncommon for managers for actors and musicians to file such complaints without their clients being aware due to the Power of Attorney that they’ve been granted.  With that said, I love the owner’s response and willingness to donate the money to the children’s hospital if he loses!

What do you think of the Archie comic parody? Have you purchased the first one yet?

Brazil Still Possible Filming Location for “Breaking Dawn”

In the wake of countless reports about filming being delayed following a hostage situation in a Brazilian hotel last week in which 35 people were held hostage by a drug ring, Deadbolt is reporting that Summit is still looking at locations in the country to film scenes for “Breaking Dawn”.  They report:

A spokesperson for Summit Entertainment revealed to Radar Online that filming Breaking Dawn in Brazil is still on the Twilight table. “The possibility of filming portions of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 in Brazil has always been under consideration and we are continuing to scout locations within the country.”

Source

I am still confused by these reports that Rob & Kristen will be filming scenes for “Breaking Dawn – Part 2″ in Brazil.  Since Isle Esme takes place in the first half of the book, I would assume that it would be in the first of the two films and that the second installment would be rainforest scenes with Jasper and Alice seeking another vampire/human.  If the country is unsafe, why don’t they scout a safer location like in the Carribbean if they are looking for tropical scenes.  In all honesty, they could do rainforest shots there as well.

Teacher Uses “Twilight” To Enhance Biology Course

from: The Gainesville Times

When Bauck was deciding how to teach human biology, a course she’ll teach for the first time this fall, she wanted to find a way to interest the nonbiology majors.

“If you can engage students in the process a little bit and get them excited and keep the interest going, you have a better chance of delivering the material,” she said. “This is a challenging course with a lot of detailed and difficult content, and I want to engage them instead of droning on about the anatomy of the cell.”

“There is an actual biochemical basis to legends of vampires, which have been associated with a genetic mutation thought to have originated in Eastern Europe in the late 1700s,” Bauck included on her syllabus. “This inherited disorder — porphyria — resulted in an abnormal heme molecule, with symptoms of pale skin, extremely sensitivity to sunlight and brain disorders including odd behavior. Further, individuals affected by porphyria often drank animal blood, as it was thought to alleviate the symptoms.”

Atmosphere of “Twilight” Echoed In Jewelry

The signs and symbols of Twilight are strong reminders of the narrative’s power. Bella’s moonstone ring echoes the timeless “life” of the vampire and her engagement ring is reminiscent of the sparkling skin of Edward in the sunshine. Wolf rings evoke the strength and speed of Jacob and the other werewolves.

I love that teachers are getting more creative with their lessons and that they are willing to incorporate items from pop culture, such as “Twilight” into the curricululm.  “Traditional” lectures certainly do not hold a student’s attention and it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know that application of the subject matter helps a student retain the knowledge.  I think that tying biology lessons to elements from “Twilight” could certainly increase the amount of material learned and retained in that class.  If not, it would at the very least be more enjoyable to sit through than a traditional lecture.

Have you seen “The Bad Mother’s Handbook”?  I’d like to check out the DVD so that I can see it in a version other than the grainy, small-screened one on YouTube.

Nikki Reed Would ‘Do Anything’ For A Guest Spot On ‘True Blood’

Being the fans of the fang-ed that we are here at Hollywood Crush, nothing delights us more than learning that the actors who portray the vamps in our favorite films and TV shows would love a vampire-on-vampire-type crossover as much as we would.

Case in point: “Twilight” actress Nikki Reed, who’s been filming “Catch .44″ with “True Blood”‘s Deborah Ann Woll , is an admitted “True Blood” fanatic.

Stephenie Meyer still among highest-paid authors

usatoday.com: So, can an author make as much as a hip-hop mogul?

Just days ago, Forbes put out its list of Hip-Hop “Cash Kings.” Now it has just come up with a new list: The 10 Highest-Paid Authors.

No. 2: But you could say Twilight author Stephenie Meyer is smarter. She came in at second place this year, even though she didn’t release a new title in 2009. She still earned $40 million. About $7 million of that came from movies adapted from the Twilight series, says Forbes.

ECLIPSE Director David Slade Likely to Helm WOLVERINE 2

Breaking Dawn, Motorcycles, Alternate Endings & Spoilers…

photo/twilightseriestheories.com

twilightseriestheories.com: This week we are bringing you some good stuff about Breaking Dawn!  We did discuss the upcoming movie at length, so there is more to come next week too!  We talked in this segment about how the series was going to only be three books!  It would have ended with Eclipse, and Stephenie even has an alternate ending!  There was also some talk about ‘Book-Characters’ vs. ‘Movie-Characters’, and all the spoilers that come with movie previews!

Matt: Okay, so Stephenie we were talking a little bit about how…like how in the tent scene Jacob the first initial scene he wasn’t even touching her because you know sometimes they have to censor it. What is your viewpoint…What is your opinion about how they censor some of the stuff to film from your books? Like some from the past books. Some from the present. Or the future books.

SM: Right. Right. Some of the future. I really want my kids to be able to watch these. Eclipse is a little bit for them…I mean, not that it’s like graphic in any way but just you know, when I read the kids Eclipse I did the chapter when the younger ones were asleep. And it was kind of a thing for me and my son like: “Do you understand what this is about? Let’s talk about it. Let’s have this conversation.” I think my younger ones are a little too young for you know: “What are they talking about, mommy?” And I’m like: “Okay, well when a man and a woman love each other very much…” And I just don’t really wanna go there yet till they’re ready for it! Um, and so I mean, there…I do want them to be something that…You know the fans who are nine? They’re gonna go see them anyway. And I don’t want to have their parents pissed at me you know? I’m okay with them because that’s what our imaginations are for. That’s what, you know,…we have our version of the scenes and if they did them exactly that way? Yeah, okay the rating would be prohibitive. And uh, not everybody could go and see it. And I think that we’ll…In the next one that we’ll have some nice steamy stuff. I think it’ll be good, but I think it’ll also be something that thirteen-year-olds can get into. Which is being true to your audience.

Elysa: There’s also the gory things to consider too, though.

(chatter)

SM: There are the gory things. And the birth scene’s gonna be tricky you know? Particularly because directors love that kind of stuff: “Alright!” We were just talking about like: “We gotta have this and that!” I dunno. It’s so funny how people are so freaked out by the birth scene.

Vampires don’t suck as ‘Eclipse’ passes ‘New Moon’

www.hollywood.com: Even though “Vampires Suck” got knocked down to third after a first place Wednesday debut, all is not lost in the romantic world of bloodsuckers and werewolves as Summit Entertainment’s “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” on Thursday surpassed the $296,623,634 domestic box office total of “New Moon.” On Thursday in 1,212 theatres, the third installment of the mega-blockbuster franchise earned $190,143 and that was enough to bring its total to $296,649,934 and take the domestic gross crown away from its worthy predecessor.  See full story at Twilight about to eclipse “New Moon!’

Third Place - Aaron Seltzer and Jason Friedberg’s latest pop culture parody fest Vampires Suck took aim at the beloved Twilight franchise and dropped to third in its second day of release with $2.3 million at the box office on Thursday.  The comedy opened to a number one debut on Wednesday with $4.02 million in almost 3,000 theaters nationwide.

OK, it would be so hilarious to see Nikki in True Blood. Now that she knows Deborah, those two would drive Bill crazy, but she did mention that she would like to be a werewolf… What do you think of the crossover idea? What would be a good character for Nikki?

I loved Stephenie’s new fan junket interview. I think this was a really great idea from her because we really get to know more about the books and her thoughts about the movie and characters that what we usually already know. If she does have an alternate ending it would be so great to read it, maybe one day she’ll be good with the fans and give us a sneak pick ;) I’m still curious about that twilight saga guide, there are so many characters I would like to know more about. I’m not even going to into Midnight Sun. What did you think of the new audio interview? Anything that caught your attention?

This is totally out of theme, but I would really like to see a new Wolverine movie, the plot sounds really great and David has had his share of comics so it could work out. 30 Days of Night is a great movie and he did a great job with Eclipse :)

What do you think of Robert and Kristen being on the McAfee list?

Have you seen Vampires Suck? What did you think about it?

Anna Kendrick Gets Her ‘Twilight’ And ‘Lord Of The Rings’ Knowledge Put To The Test!

hollywoodcrush.mtv.com: Anna Kendrick is not new to dealing with passionate fans. She has worked in all the “The Twilight Saga” films (albeit as a human instead of a supernatural creature), has a small role in the upcoming “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World” and has been a long time fan of “Lord of the Rings.”

Fortunately, we at MTV don’t allow such self-proclaimed passionate fandom to go untested, so while Anna was promoting “Scott Pilgrim,” MTV News’ Josh Horowitz decided to give her a little quiz to see how well she knows “Twilight” and “Lord of the Rings.”

James Franco Writing a Vampire Romance Novel?

nymag.com: In Esquire‘s cover feature on scholarly General Hospital star James Franco, we learn that the actor recently read Twilight:

“for a project … It’s crazy how much sexual tension there is [in Twilight]. It just builds and builds. I mean it never stops.”

He continues: “You probably know I have a lot of projects. But that one is way, way off,” he says. “It’s just something I’m thinking about … I want to write a children’s book. Someday.” And he’s apparently serious about it — of the book that inspired his current project, this weekend’s Eat, Pray, Love, he says only this: “My character mostly appears in the first twenty pages … And I can definitely say I read the first twenty pages.”

Jackson Rathbone Wants to See Kristen Stewart as a Vampire

movies.insidepulse.com: Sure all the talk is always about Edward, Bella, and Jacob but we can’t forget the other characters in the Twilight Saga now can we?

Be warned though that if you haven’t read the books or anything then you may be SPOILED a little later in this article.

I can’t wait, it’s always a reunion. I’m really looking forward to seeing Bella’s transformation, that’s one of the things that has been building up for a while.”

So Jasper is ready to see the goody-goody Bella finally transform into the species of her possible true love.

I’m excited to see how Kristen Stewart really works with that. That’s going to be fun, she’s an incredible actress and, I know this is a pun, but she’s chomping at the bit in order to play that transition.”

Anna Kendrick on Scott Pilgrim, Meeting Edgar Wright, and Surviving the Oscar Gauntlet

www.movieline.com: After earning a supporting actress nomination at the Oscars last year for her work in Up in the Air, Anna Kendrick again provides valuable support as part of the ensemble cast of Edgar Wright’s hyper-caffeinated comic book adaptation Scott Pilgrim vs the World. So how does the 25-year-old actress feel about shooting her role as Scott’s sister Stacey, her part in the upcoming cancer comedy Live With It, and the rigors of an Oscar season she’s finally put to bed? She told Movieline.

I’ve heard that Edgar was a big fan of your work in Rocket Science. Did he get in touch with you based on that?
Yeah, I think so. We had a meeting — God, it was a couple years ago, now — and it was actually at 6:30 in the morning before my flight to go shoot the first Twilight film. [Much later], I went in to read for Stacey and got hired. Standard stuff, really.

A 6:30am meeting sounds less than ideal.
Yeah, I was basically falling asleep. It was so early, and food sounded so gross to me, that I thought I was going to throw up at the breakfast table. It went good, though. It was a good enough impression, I guess.

Now, Comic-Con this year…was that your first time going?
It was my first time going and getting to have the full experience. I’d been with New Moon, but that was more of a Twilight-centric thing and we were sort of sequestered in Twilight world. This was the first time I got to go on the convention center floor, which was amazing.

Christina Ricci on Robert Pattinson: Great Guy, Awesome Kisser!

www.thehollywoodgossip.com: In the upcoming movie Bel Ami, Robert Pattinson makes loves to a lot of women.

His character rises to power in Paris by sleeping with and manipulating many females, one of whom will be played by Christina Ricci.

Asked by E! News what it was like to work so closely with the Twilight Saga hunk, Ricci said there is some “naughtiness” between their characters and summed up the shoot with this praise for her co-star:

“Working with Rob was amazing. He’s such a great guy, so talented.”

Breaking Dawn to be biggest paperback release of the year

www.thebookseller.com: Retailers are expecting the publication of Stephenie Meyer’s Breaking Dawn next week to be one of the “biggest paperback releases of the year”. The fourth and final novel in the Twilight series is to be published by Atom in paperback on 19th August after being out in hardback for two years.

Sarah Clarke, Waterstone’s children’s buying manager, said: “Despite the fact that the hardback has remained at or near the top of our children’s chart since publication – it’s still number three now – we have no doubt that Breaking Dawn is going to be our biggest children’s paperback of the year. We’ll be supporting it accordingly, and look forward to some very impressive sales.”

Twilight’s Charlie Bewley Talks Breaking Dawn‘s Birth Scene

www.reelzchannel.com: Volturi actor Charlie Bewley (Demetri) is the latest member of The Twilight Saga cast to chime in with his thoughts on Parts 1 and 2 of final movie Breaking Dawn, and the ever-popular topic of Bella’s somewhat gruesome birth scene.

On the subject of Bella’s much anticipated birth scene, Bewley has very specific ideas for how it should all play out.

I think they should just go all the way and do it in 3D! The baby kind of like pops out and floats above the audience’s head. Everyone who goes to see the movie with a bunch of kids going, “What?!”

On a serious note, he said “I have no idea. [But] they have to keep it in there. It’s part of the book.”

Is Stephenie Meyer Team Edward or Team Jacob?

www.twifans.com: The Stephenie Meyer fan-junket interview was all roses & hollyhocks until we delved into the most contentious subject of all, Team Edward vs Team Jacob…yes, of course we had to go there! Both sides battled vigorously (I’m not going to lie…Alison & I fought HARD for Team Edward!!) It was a heavy debate but in the end Stephenie Meyer really is…Team Switzerland :)

Have you ever wondered about who would actually win in a physical fight between Edward & Jacob? We’re talking the nitty gritty here people! Depending on what team you’re on the answer seems obvious but Alison & I wanted to know what the goddess who created the whole Twilight world, Stephenie Meyer, herself had to say. So we asked:

Anna Kendrick on Scott Pilgrim vs. the World

www.interviewmagazine.com: Taglined “An epic of epic epicness,” director Edgar Wright’s adaptation of Bryan Lee O’Malley’s popular comic book series, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, hits theaters with Biblical force this Friday. Archetypal awkward youth Michael Cera plays the titular character, a 22-year-old bass player who falls in love with a girl only to learn that she has seven evil ex-boyfriends, all of whom are hell-bent on killing him. Anna Kendrick, who plays Scott’s reliable sister Stacey, says her character is “the voice in the back of [Scott's] head that he knows he’s not going to listen to.” We spoke to Kendrick about filming Scott Pilgrim, Comic Con, and Twilight mania (or lack thereof).

CAROLINE BANKOFF: Hello, Anna! Where are you calling from?

ANNA KENDRICK: I’m in Toronto. We have the Toronto premiere of Scott Pilgrim tonight–we filmed it in Toronto, so it’s a homecoming of sorts.

BANKOFF: How’s your summer been so far? What have you been up to?

KENDRICK: I don’t know, really. Just kind of doing the press tour and stuff. And watching a lot of movies.

BANKOFF: And you just went to Comic Con to promote Scott Pilgrim, right?

KENDRICK: Yeah. It was great; it was amazing. I mean, the film is obviously for comic fans, and they seemed to love it, which is a huge relief. Those are your toughest critics, in a way.
