“Breaking Dawn” Shoot In Brazil Hits Snag

Source: MTV

Plans to shoot scenes from the second half of “Breaking Dawn” — the final installment in the “Twilight” series — in Brazil may have hit a snag as a result of violence in the country.

According to Agence France-Presse, Summit Entertainment, the production company behind the hit vampire series, planned to begin shooting in Rio de Janeiro within the next few weeks. However, due to a situation in which gang members held 35 guests hostage in the city’s Intercontinental Hotel, and a subsequent shoot-out that left one person dead, the future of the film’s production in Rio has reportedly been jeopardized.

RioFilme, a Brazilian film investment agency, said that Summit was discussing the issue with government officials. In a statement to RadarOnline.com, Summit insisted that no decision about abandoning production in the South American nation has been made.

Ian Somerhalder Beats Robert Pattinson for EW’s ”Sexy Beast” Title

Source: Enterainment Weekly

When the blood, sweat, and broken fangs were wiped away, who was the winner? Let this be the official reveal: Damon Salvatore eked out a mild upset victory over Edward Cullen by a margin of 138,630 to 134,728, a difference of just 3,902 votes.

Maybe it was a last-minute Tweet from Somerhalder himself –”That Pattinson guy will end up kicking my butt, however thanks for taking the time, that’s really cool : )” –that turned the tide in favor of his character. Or maybe it was a get-out-the-vote campaign by Somerhalder’s co-star Matt Davis (Alaric). “I think he text-messaged Justin Bieber and said ‘Hey, would you please vote for my friend?’ I’m not even kidding,” Somerhalder tells EW.

That’s some scary stuff about the hostages in the hotel in Brazil.  My friend’s husband is from there and they’ve told me stories about how bad the crime is down there and it’s quite unsettling.  Something about this article bothers me, though.   The article mentions that they would be filming scenes from the second half of the film and that Rob and Kristen would be going down there to shoot.  Are we to believe that this is the second half of Part 1?  When I first read it, I assumed that it would be Part 2 and that would be Amazon rainforest scenes as Jasper and Alice seek another vampire-human hybrid.  I suppose that since they specify Rob and Kristen that these would be Isle Esme scenes.  Some clarification would be nice.

What do you think about the EW poll results?  Did you vote?  If so, who was your choice?

VAMPIRE DIARIES SCOOP

Yesterday, we gave you a delicious sneak peek into what’s going to happen when Damon (Ian Somerhalder) finds out it wasn’t Elena (Nina Dobrev) who he kissed in the season finale of “Vampire Diaries” (let’s just say it won’t be pretty!).

Of course, that was only the start (a pretty juicy one at that!) of our “VD” scoops straight out of Comic-Con 2010. After all, the finale left us with a lot of unanswered questions and high amongst them was whether or not Elena and Katherine would ever come face-to-face.

So, when we sat down with the cast, we made sure to ask … and lucky for us show writer Julie Plec gave us just the answer we were looking for.

WEREWOLVES COMING TO VAMPIRE DIARIES

It may be called The Vampire Diaries, but a new supernatural force is coming to town.

Last season, vampire haters trying to rid Mystic Falls of the undead used a device that caused so much pain, it made it impossible for any vampire to hide their identity. But Tyler Lockwood, Michael Trevino, showed the same reaction to the device, and he wasn’t a vampire. So what caused his unexplainable symptoms?

‘VAMPIRE DIARIES’ STARS AMONG MONTE CARLO TV FEST ATTENDEES

Source: Aceshowbiz

Monte Carlo TV Festival this year has been kicked off with a number of celebrities attending the opening ceremony. The first day of the annual event saw Paul Wesley and his “The Vampire Diaries” co-stars Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder gracing the red carpet for a press photo call.

At the festival held in Monaco, they each took turns making a pairing combination. While Paul and Nina looked camera-ready, Ian appeared scruffy and unkempt. The three of them were fresh from promoting the CW series in London last week.

Striking and lovely as always. I have to admit though, I didn’t realize Monte Carlo had a tv fest!

VAMPIRE DIAIRIES PRODUCERS WANT TO DEFY EXPECTATIONS

Last summer, executive producers Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson took L.J. Smith’s books and turned them into the ‘Vampire Diaries.’ The show was initially marketed as a ‘Twilight’ clone. In a few episodes, though, ‘Vampire Diaries’ proved that it was the heir to the great ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’.

Indeed, what began as a love triangle between a noble vampire, a teenage girl, and his gloriously evil brother evolved into a sophisticated series with a complex mythology and the best cliffhangers on television. The much-anticipated finale, airing May 13 on the CW, promises to be a best episode yet – as Plec and Williamson told us, they hope it defies expectations.

VAMPIRE DIARIES DEATH POOL: WHO WILL DIE ON THE SEASON FINALE

Death is coming to Mystic Falls.

Producers have confirmed that at least one significant character will die on this week’s season finale of The Vampire Diaries, a twist that has fans in an understandable uproar.

While some believe the show will shock us and kill off Stefan or Damon, allow us to put those rumors to rest: ain’t gonna happen. But anyone else? Pretty much fair game.

The odds of all Mystic Falls residents…

Tyler
He’s scarcely been seen over the last few weeks, meaning storylines don’t require his presence. But the show has teased him as a
werewolf and it seems unlikely they’d kill him off before delving more deeply into this side of him.
Odds of dying: 25-1

NINA DOBREV CALLS IAN SOMERHALDER AND PAUL WESLEY ‘INCREDIBLE’

It’s no secret that the cast of “Vampire Diaries,” gets along pretty well. In fact, a few of the show’s actors have told us that they’re bffs on set and off. So, when Nina Dobrev dropped by MTV News last week, we had to ask her whether the same held true for her and the two boys she films with most often — Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder.

“They are just great guys to be around,” Nina gushed. “It’s awesome that I get paid to hang with these two guys and work with them and the rest of the cast.” Now, that’s what we love to hear!

Of course, once we learned how close she was to Paul and Ian, we couldn’t help but pick her brain a little on on what both guys are like when they’re not in character.

“Ian and Paul are very different and similar in many ways,” she said. “I think that when people start hanging around each other, they start to pick on on each other’s quirks and taste in music, apparently.”

I agree…Vampire Diaires started out as kind of a teenager soap opera but has turned into a pretty good show. Your thoughts?

Which character do you think be be killed off the series? I say it’s not going to be one of the younger set. It will definitely be an ‘adult’.

The episode airs on May 13th. The Vampire Diaries airs on Thursdays at 8pm and stars Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, and Ian Somerhalder. Yesterday, we posted video from Nina Dobrev’s (who was looking real proper) appearance on Jimmy Fallon (which I also reposted below for convenience).

‘MOONLIGHT’ RETURNS TO TV FOR VAMPIRE THURSDAYS

Source: buddytv.com

The CW announced part of its summer plans today, and the schedule includes a double dose of vampire action on Thursday nights. Starting June 3, repeats from the first season of The Vampire Diaries will be paired with Moonlight, the 2007 CBS vampire drama starring Alex O’Loughlin.

The moves demonstrates that the CW is going after the vampire audience in a big way, and that The Vampire Diaries is the new lynchpin of the network. Moonlight has grown into a cult classic and helped make O’Loughlin a beloved hunk.

HOW TO REALLY SAVE YOUR FAVORITE SCI-FI SHOW FROM CANCELATION

Source: boingboing.net

How can fans of a struggling sci-fi show save it from cancelation? It’s a question I get a lot, partly because Syfy has from time to time saved shows from cancelation, and partly because like every TV network we cancel our fair share of shows.

The No. 1 method of choice for fans trying to save a show is writing letters/e-mails to the network that airs the show. This worked back in the ’60s to keep the original Star Trek on the air for a while, and according to this article it may have had an impact on a few shows since then.

It’s not your best bet though, because today EVERY canceled show has a write-in campaign, often accompanied by some clever item…Jericho fans sent peanuts, Lexx fans sent dragonflies, etc. It’s so pervasive that it’s become background noise.
