Fallen is the first of the trilogy about fallen angels.

Luce Price finds herself in Swords & Crosses, a reform school for disturbed kids in Savannah, Georgia. The place even looks and feels like a jail, nothing at all like Luce’s old posh school and she only gets ONE phone call a week! But I guess that’s what happens when the last boy she got close to puffed up in flames and the black shadows are still always there. Haunting her.

Mysterious and aloof yet ever so familiar, Daniel Grigori catches Luce’s eye the very first day she enters the hell hole of Swords & Crosses and she feels something, something big but if only 1) he notice her and 2) when he did notice her, he didn’t flip his middle finger up at her. Yet Luce can’t seem to stop stalking him, finding more and more information about him. He is always so hot and then ice cold. Unlike Cam who is charming, beautiful and he is definitely into Luce.

Daniel character is different, you hate the way Luce keeps going after him and embarrassing herself yet you want her to keep going, digging deeper and deeper, where with Cam you can see he is a simple character but as the story gets going you know that is not the case. When the truth is out about these two very different but more similar then you would think boys, Luce is faced with death.

This book is an amazing read with a great twist that you are just waiting for. It is full of friendship and love.
This is a MUST-READ this summer. The second book will be out in September.

Out of all the hand drawn cover pictures I have seen, I think I like this one best. The artist added as much detail as I think she could. And I love how well the dress was done.

Welcome again dear readers to another OBS Character Profiles special!

This weekend we bring you in honor of our monthly OBS Book Club Fallen by Lauren Kate, the couple that no matter what lifetime it is are always meant to be together; Daniel Grigori and Lucinda Prince. He is a fallen angel and she is he’s eternal soul mate, will they be able to stay apart?

Lucinda Prince

Name: Lucinda Prince

Physical Traits: Luce has had many different lifetimes talked about in Fallen, but the present life she is in; Luce has chopped off her long thick black silky hair. Her hair now resembles more of a do-it-yourself pixie cut.  She is a lean figure, with soft curves. She has very light skin tone, and seems very frail.

Summary:
Luce shows a lot of characteristics that many young girls in love. Like the anxiety that comes with being around the person who gives your stomach butterflies, getting trapped in your fantasies and then feeling immense embarrassment when you are caught by him. Even to her stubborn hard-headed ways, she is unrelenting when it comes to Daniel, even in the beginning when he treats her like dirt. She never gives up, and she fights to figure out the truth, and make Daniel see that there is and always has been a connection between them.

Luce is a very loyal friend, and sometimes she can trust the wrong people. We see some of the sticky situations she gets herself into with Cam, Molly, and Miss Sophia. But that is what you must love about Luce, her willingness to not only be kind to people, but expect them to be normal human beings, this is a quality that NOT many young women have, this makes her unique.

“It made Luce want to stand up next to him and fight. Fight to stay alive long enough to live out her life next to him. Fight for the only thing she know that was good enough, noble enough, powerful enough to be worth risking everything.
Love.”

There’s something achingly familiar about Daniel Grigori.

Mysterious and aloof, he captures Luce Price’s attention from the moment she sees him on her first day at the Sword & Cross boarding school in sultry Savannah, Georgia. He’s the one bright spot in a place where cell phones are forbidden, the other students are all screw-ups, and security cameras watch every move.

Even though Daniel wants nothing to do with Luce–and goes out of his way to make that very clear–she can’t let it go. Drawn to him like a moth to a flame, she has to find out what Daniel is so desperate to keep secret . . . even if it kills her.

Summary:

Tuesday Morning…

Luce officially survived her day at Sword & Cross. She wakes up in the early morning, remembering how Tuesdays at home were meant for pancakes…but not in this prison. She suddenly realizes why she subconsciously woke up so early; she has detention in the cemetery at dawn. (Molly picked a fight with her after she dumped her tray of food on her). She arrives late because she didn’t even know where the group was meeting, she hears voices down in the center, and makes her down. She is once again embarrassed by ‘The Albatross’, but not as badly as she is when Daniel caught her staring at him, wondering about how looks while sleeping, oops.

Questions for consideration:

1. What do you think is up with Cam, why is he so interested? And why is Arriane so interested, so interested that it seems a bit of obsessive?

2. Why would Molly warn Luce, is it because Molly likes Luce or because she might know something? What do you think at this point Molly’s part is in the story?

3. I find it romantic, when Daniel slips up in this story like in this chapter when he sees her cracking her knuckles -”I hate it when you do that.” – implying he does know her, and he does pay attention. Do you find this sweet and romantic?

4. Does the angel falling on top of them signify anything? At least maybe just for you, the reader?
