“Breaking Dawn” Shoot In Brazil Hits Snag
Source: MTV
Plans to shoot scenes from the second half of “Breaking Dawn” — the final installment in the “Twilight” series — in Brazil may have hit a snag as a result of violence in the country.
According to Agence France-Presse, Summit Entertainment, the production company behind the hit vampire series, planned to begin shooting in Rio de Janeiro within the next few weeks. However, due to a situation in which gang members held 35 guests hostage in the city’s Intercontinental Hotel, and a subsequent shoot-out that left one person dead, the future of the film’s production in Rio has reportedly been jeopardized.
RioFilme, a Brazilian film investment agency, said that Summit was discussing the issue with government officials. In a statement to RadarOnline.com, Summit insisted that no decision about abandoning production in the South American nation has been made.

Ian Somerhalder Beats Robert Pattinson for EW’s ”Sexy Beast” Title
Source: Enterainment Weekly
When the blood, sweat, and broken fangs were wiped away, who was the winner? Let this be the official reveal: Damon Salvatore eked out a mild upset victory over Edward Cullen by a margin of 138,630 to 134,728, a difference of just 3,902 votes.
Maybe it was a last-minute Tweet from Somerhalder himself –”That Pattinson guy will end up kicking my butt, however thanks for taking the time, that’s really cool : )” –that turned the tide in favor of his character. Or maybe it was a get-out-the-vote campaign by Somerhalder’s co-star Matt Davis (Alaric). “I think he text-messaged Justin Bieber and said ‘Hey, would you please vote for my friend?’ I’m not even kidding,” Somerhalder tells EW.

That’s some scary stuff about the hostages in the hotel in Brazil. My friend’s husband is from there and they’ve told me stories about how bad the crime is down there and it’s quite unsettling. Something about this article bothers me, though. The article mentions that they would be filming scenes from the second half of the film and that Rob and Kristen would be going down there to shoot. Are we to believe that this is the second half of Part 1? When I first read it, I assumed that it would be Part 2 and that would be Amazon rainforest scenes as Jasper and Alice seek another vampire-human hybrid. I suppose that since they specify Rob and Kristen that these would be Isle Esme scenes. Some clarification would be nice.
What do you think about the EW poll results? Did you vote? If so, who was your choice?

TV SHOW NEWS MAY 29TH: VAMPIRE DIARIES, GREEN LANTERN & MORE
Author: Caro | Filed under: News Blog, TV Show News‘Vampire Diaries’ Season 2 Scoops

hollywoodcrush.mtv.com: When last we left Damon he was smooching Elena, or so we (and he) thought until moments later when she whipped out that big butcher knife and let us know she was really Elena’s look-a-like, naughty vamp Katherine. So will deceived Damon continue to woo Elena in the upcoming season? “The only thing I can say about them for season two, is that it’s going to be a very profound triangle,” Julie said rather coyly, though she did drop a few hints.
“Damon’s still got a long way to go until he’s man enough to deserve Elena. But he has a strong pull, a strong draw.” But with Katherine stalking Mystic Falls, Julie says to expect more of a “love square.”
Though I was never good at geometry, that does sound rather intriguing, no?
And speaking of the ancient vampire diva, Julie confirmed that Katherine and Elena are indeed related (unlike in the book series), and that their connection will continue to be revealed. “Our position is very much that the bloodline is the Pierce bloodline. Isobel is part of that, as is Elena. Elena looks like Katherine, they’re doppelgangers. That’s the big question that will continue to be asked deep into the second season.”

Green Lantern Gets TV Show

Heat Vision has announced that a Green Lantern cartoon series is being developed to air on Cartoon Network “in the second year after the film release” of “GREEN LANTERN” – which means the year 2012-2013. Launching a cartoon series shortly after a movie about a superhero is hardly uncommon, especially for DC superheroes.
This is interesting, as an interview with Bruce Timm, producer of many of WB’s hit DC cartoons and current producer of their “DC Universe Animated” line of animated DVD films, claimed that Warner Home Video felt that the DVD animated feature, “GREEN LANTERN: FIRST FLIGHT” did not sell well enough to warrant a sequel. Could it have been because WB would rather save their resources for a longer term Green Lantern project, such as a TV show? At any rate, it helps cement the rise of the character within this past decade from notable B-Lister to all but replacing Wonder Woman as part of DC’s Big Three (or becoming part of their Big Four).

OBS RECAP & REVIEWS: VAMPIRE DIARIES S1 EPISODE 22 ‘FOUNDERS’ DAY’
Author: ifellhard | Filed under: News Blog, TV Recap & ReviewIt wasn’t me – it was my evil twin!!!!
The episode opens with images of Stefan and Elena getting dressed in period attire for the Founders’ Day parade. The scene shifts to the parade with Damon and Stefan meeting up. The brothers exchange barbs about Damon trying to steal Elena and Stefan being jealous. Damon tells him that “Elena is not Katherine” as she walks up in her period costume looking exactly like Katherine did the last time they saw her.
As Jeremy gets dressed for the parade in his room, Anna shows up. She tells him that his Uncle John killed her mother. Jeremy tries to defend his uncle’s actions because he believes that the tomb vampires want revenge and Anna tells him that it’s true. She tells him that’s why she and her mother split from them – her mother just wanted to live her life in peace. She tells Jeremy that she’s leaving and offers to turn him. She gives him a vial of her blood and tells him that if he dies with it in his system that he’ll become a vampire. He tells her that he doesn’t think that he can do it now and Anna vanishes.
Stefan tells Elena about John being her father. She hopes that it’s not true and asks Stefan what she should do and how she has enough to deal with what is going on with Jeremy.
Elena finds Jeremy and he tells her to go away, taking an additional dig and suggesting that she have Damon erase his memory again.
Mrs. Lockwood announces the parade entries from the viewing stand. Damon watches the court float, taunting Stefan and Elena. He stands in front of Bonnie who asks him what he wants. As she stalks off, he follows her and tells her that he wants to thank her for removing the spell on the device and that he owes her one.
John and the Mayor are in Elena’s dad’s office with the device and John explains how it will work. It will emit a sound that only the vampires can hear for five minutes, giving the deputies time to inject the afflicted vampires with vervain. As he tells the Mayor how things will go down, John tells him of the tomb vampires’ plan to attack when the fireworks begin. In the scene showing the tomb vamps planning, Anna shows up to join them.
After the parade at the grill, Damon compliments Elena on her new attire and they discuss Stefan’s worries about Isobel’s revelation. Elena tells him to stop with the flirty comments. She spots Jeremy and goes over to him, admitting that she was wrong and asks him how to fix things. He tells her to go to hell and storms off. Damon catches up with Jeremy outside, mocking his teen angst. He tells Jeremy not to talk to her like that anymore and to cut her some slack. Stefan intervenes as things start to escalate and tells Jeremy not to blame Elena. Stefan tells Jeremy that Damon turned Vickie and that he killed her because she was a threat to him and Elena. Stefan’s jealous streak surfaces when he and Damon argue over Damon interfering in Elena and Jeremy’s relationship.
Sheriff Forbes, John, and Mayor Lockwood discuss the plan for taking out the tomb vampires. Sheriff Forbes is opposed to it, stating that it’s too risky for their families. John asks the Mayor to step out so that he can talk to the Sheriff alone. Once alone, he knocks Sheriff Forbes out and handcuffs her to the radiator.
The next scene takes place outside at night with Damon roaming around the Founders’ Day festivities when Anna appears. She tells him about the tomb vampires’ plan. Damon tells her that John wants to use the invention on the tomb vampires, but the spell was removed. Anna tells him that the vampires are already there. We then see the tomb vampires mobilize and disperse among the crowd.
Damon finds Alaric and asks him if he has his vampire tools with him, telling him about the tomb vampires. Damon then finds Elena and Stefan, telling them that the founding families are the targets. Elena and Stefan take off to find Jeremy.
Caroline and Matt are talking at the grill and Tyler is shooting pool when Mayor Lockwood comes in and urges them all to go home, giving Tyler his keys. They all concede to his request and leave.
As Jeremy is coming out of the bathroom, Anna finds him and drags him back in.
Mayor Lockwood is on the parade viewing stand giving a speech about Founders’ Day and dedicates the fireworks display to the founders of Mystic Falls. The fireworks begin and Mayor and Mrs. Lockwood walk down from the viewing stand. The vampires begin stalking their targets in the crowd. Bonnie bumps into one and they apologize to one another. Bonnie changes her course of direction and seems to follow the vampire.
Damon walks into Dr. Gilbert’s office and confronts John as John activates the device. Damon collapses to the floor, holding his head in pain. Outside, Stefan does the same. In the bathroom of the grill, the same thing happens to Anna as Jeremy holds her. The other vampires fall as well. Driving home, Tyler hears the sound, grabs his head, loses control of the car and crashes.
Alaric spares Stefan from one of the deputies and tells Elena and Stefan that the deputies are injecting vampires with vervain. Elena realizes that they are rounding up the vampires. Meanwhile, Mayor Lockwood goes down as well. The deputies inject him and haul him off, too. They also find Anna in the bathroom.
John packs up the device and heads down into the basement. Anna grabs his foot. She looks over and sees Damon. John stakes Anna and then pours gasoline all over the basement and up the stairs and then sets it aflame.
Alaric, Elena, and Stefan discuss what happened and Stefan describes the pain. Alaric says that he saw five vampires go down and get dragged off to a building. Stefan mentions the device and Elena wonders how it could work because Bonnie removed the spell. Alaric suggests that maybe Bonnie didn’t really remove it and Stefan concurs with that notion. They wonder where Damon is as Elena asks Alaric to take Jeremy home.
Mrs. Lockwood finds and frees Sheriff Forbes and tells her that the deputies took the Mayor, wondering why because he’s not a vampire.
The fire is burning in the basement and Damon sees Mayor Lockwood. The Mayor asks Damon why he’s there. Damon tells him, “I’m a vampire. What’s your excuse?” Damon notes that the vervain didn’t affect the Mayor as one of the tomb vampires snaps the Mayor’s neck.
The EMTs are working on Tyler while Matt and Caroline seem to be fine. When the EMTs check Tyler’s pupils, they notice that his eyes look really strange for a moment. Tyler comes back to consciousness and then Caroline faints in the middle of the road.
Stefan is able to hear Damon, noting that he’s in the building on fire and that he’s OK. Stefan and Elena see John and ask where Damon is. John taunts Stefan to save Damon, saying that it will save him the trouble of killing him. Elena tells Stefan more about the building to help him find Damon. John threatens Elena and Elena confronts him about being her father.
Bonnie tries to stop Stefan from going in to save Damon, but he goes in anyway. Bonnie catches Elena and holds on to her arm as she casts a spell. Stefan opens the basement door and the flames begin to shrink and recede as Bonnie continues her incantation. Stefan rescues Damon.
Stefan and Elena return to the grill and they discuss where Damon went. They hug and Stefan laments on how pointless it is for him to try to hate Damon. Elena tells him that she cares about him, too, but she loves Stefan. She repeats, “I love you, Stefan.” several times and tells him that he has nothing to worry about. She tells him that Jenna called and Jeremy is home. She is going to go to the school to get her stuff and then head home.
Jeremy is at home holding the vial of Anna’s blood and then puts it in a drawer. He turns around and finds Damon standing in his doorway. Damon tells Jeremy that Anna is dead and how he saw it, but couldn’t help her. He offers to take away Jeremy’s suffering again. Jeremy tells him that he’s still empty even though he doesn’t remember why. Damon tells him that what he did to Vickie was wrong and tells him that he’s sorry. Jeremy asks him about what Anna told him about vampires being able to turn off their humanity and if it’s true. Damon confirms that it’s true and tells him that life sucks either way. He tells Jeremy that he did it for a very long time and it was much easier that way.
Tyler walks into the hospital waiting area to find Matt waiting on Caroline. Tyler apologizes and Matt accepts. Sheriff Forbes arrives and tells them that Caroline is going into surgery for internal bleeding. She tells Tyler that he needs to call his mother – it’s about his father.
Jeremy goes into the bathroom and drinks the vial of Anna’s blood. He then takes out a bottle of prescription pain killers and starts to swallow all of the pills in the bottle.
Bonnie and Stefan meet up outside the grill. She tells him that she couldn’t let him or Damon die in the fire because of how much she loves Elena. She then tells him that things have to change – Damon has to change. After reminding him of what she is now able to do with her powers, she tells Stefan that if Damon spills one drop of innocent blood, she will take him down and will take Stefan down with him if she has to.
Elena arrives home with her clothes as Damon is walking out the front door. Damon talks about how he came to town wanting to destroy it and now he wants to protect it. He ponders how that happened. Elena notes that there is some good in him and he dismisses that, saying that good is for people like Stefan, Elena, and Bonnie. He tells her that he wants to thank her for thinking he was worth saving, otherwise Bonnie wouldn’t have done what she did. He leans in to kiss her on the cheek. Then they kiss on the lips…and kiss some more before they are interrupted by Jenna telling Elena that it’s late and she needs to come inside. Jenna asks her what she’s doing and Elena tells her that she doesn’t want to talk about it.
Jeremy goes to bed, lies down, and closes his eyes.
John arrives home and heads to kitchen. When he closes the fridge, he’s surprised to find Elena there. John tells her about meeting Isobel when he was a teenager and falling in love with her at first sight. He goes on to say that he probably hates vampires so much because of what she became and says that he never would have sent her to Damon if he’d known that she wanted to turn. He tells Elena that it’s his fault. Elena thanks him and then cuts off his fingers with a kitchen knife. John then realizes that it’s not Elena…it’s Katherine.
Elena is walking up while on the phone with Stefan, talking about how someone took her clothes. She walks into the house and calls out for Jeremy when she hears a commotion in the kitchen.
So…do you think that Damon knew that he was kissing Katherine? Surely he would have noticed that she didn’t smell human, right?!
What do you think about Mayor Lockwood and Tyler hearing the high-frequency sound emitted by the device? What about what the EMT noticed with Tyler’s eyes?
Do you think that Katherine will make her exit before Elena can see her?
Poor, poor Jeremy!! I feel so sorry for that poor kid. Do you think that Elena will get to him in time?

OBS RECAP & REVIEWS: VAMPIRE DIARIES S1 EPISODE 21 ‘ISOBEL’
Author: ifellhard | Filed under: News BlogOh, what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to conceive…and deceive…
The last episode ended with Isobel showing up at the grill next to Alaric at the bar. This episode picks up with them talking and Isobel urging him to move on because she wasn’t lost. She asks him to arrange a meeting between her and Elena. Alaric tells her, “Screw you, you selfish bitch.” and leaves. Isobel meets him in the parking lot and threatens to kill the poor unsuspecting townfolk if he doesn’t set up the meeting.
Elena talks to Damon on the phone about the parade float meeting with Caroline and he asks her about Uncle John. Stefan enters the room as they end their conversation. He hands the phone to Stefan and tells him that Elena called.
At the school, Alaric hands out the specs for the float and Tyler and Matt are still at odds with one another. Elena and Stefan enter the room and Alaric goes over to meet them. Caroline and Bonnie discuss the Miss Mystic float and Caroline wonders where Elena is. Caroline asks Bonnie about the two of them fighting and talks about how she’s upset with how everyone is fighting.
Damon meets Alaric, Stefan, and Elena at the school and learns that Alaric saw Isobel.
Uncle John arrives at a large home for sale and finds Isobel there, entertaining herself with some people that she compelled. John wants to talk to her and they discuss their partnership as he notes that he doesn’t accept her “lifestyle”. They talk about the device. Isobel tells him that his plan isn’t working and that she’ll take things over.
Damon and Alaric discuss the meeting with Isobel. Elena says that she wants to see her. Damon tells her that she doesn’t have to see Isobel if she doesn’t want to and Stefan points out Isobel’s threat of a killing spree. Elena says that she wants to meet her so that she doesn’t have any regrets.
At the grill, Elena waits alone at a table while Stefan looks on from the bar. They have a one-sided conversation utilizing his vampire hearing as he listens and nods to her. Isobel enters the grill and sits at the table with Elena while Stefan stands guard from the bar. Isobel tells her that she looks just like Katherine and tells her how Katherine found her just after she was turned. She mentions that Katherine would be fascinated by her. Elena asks about a necklace and Isobel tells her that Katherine helped her obtain the jewelry so that she can walk in the daylight. Elena asks who her father is and Isobel refuses to tell her, saying that he was a “teenage waste of space.” Isobel also tells her that human life means nothing to her. Isobel asks Elena why she’s not with Damon – or with both brothers like Katherine.
Damon and Alaric wait outside the grill. A very antsy Damon says that they should be inside and Alaric tells him no. Damon calls him out for continuing to protect Isobel. They discuss how there is no humanity in Isobel. Damon tries to pretend like it’s something that they can just turn off and Alaric notes how Stefan has retained his and how he can see some in Damon, even if he is a “dick”.
Elena asks Isobel why she wanted to meet. Isobel tells her that she wants what Uncle John wants – Jonathon Gilbert’s invention. Elena asks how she knows Uncle John. Isobel tells her that he had a crush on her for years and that she spent time in Mystic Falls when she was younger. She shares that John was the first person to tell her about vampires. Elena asks her why she wanted to be a vampire. Isobel notes that she had a long list of reasons, telling Elena that they are probably the same ones that she has considered. She mentions that Elena will get old and Stefan won’t. Stefan overhears this and hangs his head. Elena tells her that she doesn’t have the device and gets up to leave. Isobel stops her and tells her to tell Stefan to walk away. Elena nods to Stefan and he leaves. Isobel tells her that she wants the invention and knows that Damon has it. She tells Elena to get it for her or the blood shed will be on her hands. Isobel leaves. A shaken and upset Elena sees Bonnie enter. No words are spoken between them as Stefan comes up behind Elena to comfort her.
Jeremy leaves a voice mail for Anna and he and Aunt Jenna talk about Anna. Uncle John enters and asks about her, asking when the last time he saw her was. He offers to give him advice on girls and Aunt Jenna leaves. Uncle John asks him how well he knows Anna. Jeremy tells him that he knows her very well. Uncle John pushes him to talk and offers to help in any way he can because Jeremy’s father would want that. Jeremy tells him that he’s fine as he leaves the room.
A shirtless Damon is sitting next to the underwear-clad girl being compelled by Isobel. Isobel enters the room and engages in some banter with Damon. Damon pretends to be hurt that she didn’t pay him a visit. Isobel asks him if he brought the device and pulls his hair. Damon asks her what she’s doing with John. She tells him that they dated when she was younger and that John was in love with her. Damon asks what she wants with the device. She tells him that she is doing what she’s told and they are on the same side and then tells him that Katherine wants John to have the device. Damon and Isobel make out for a brief moment and then Damon pins her down and threatens her. He tells her that it’s a bad move to go after Elena and he believes in killing the messenger because it sends a message. He tells Isobel to tell “that little bitch” (Katherine) to come get the device herself.
At home, Elena answers a knock at the door to find Bonnie there. Bonnie apologizes for not being there for her and they hug when Elena tells her that she met her birth mother.
At the float site, Matt and Tyler talk. However, they don’t make up with one another. Elena and Bonnie are in the school and Bonnie shows her Emily’s spell book, pointing out a picture of the vampire compass. According to Emily, Jonathon Gilbert never successfully invented anything. Emily put spells on the inventions – the compass, rings, and the mystery device. Bonnie notes that Emily pledged her loyalty to Katherine, but couldn’t bear to watch people get killed. Bonnie tells Elena that the invention that Isobel wants is a weapon to kill other vampires.
Jeremy tells Elena that he’s worried about Anna, telling her that they are more than just friends. He also calls Elena out for lying and tells her that he knows what Anna is and that he knows that Elena knows, too. Elena tells him that she doesn’t know anything about where Anna is and an angry Jeremy leaves. When Elena turns around, she finds Isobel standing there. Elena tells her that she doesn’t want her in her life. Isobel points out all of Elena’s family and friends and what they mean to her. She points out her own friends that she has with her – Frank, who makes a float trailer fall on Matt. Isobel does this to prove to Elena how easy she can hurt her and then threatens to kill Jeremy, telling her that she underestimates how much Damon cares for her.
Tyler and Caroline tend to Matt and decide that Tyler will drive him to the hospital.
Isobel arrives home and finds John waiting. Isobel shows him her new hostage, Jeremy. John and Isobel argue as he tells her that she can’t hurt a kid, citing that she can’t be that far gone. He urges her to let Jeremy go. She gives an order in a foreign language and a female vampire knocks John in the head with a candlestick and there’s a fight. Isobel takes John’s ring and leaves the room.
Bonnie is in a classroom with Elena and Stefan. She asks where the device is and Stefan tells her that Damon has it. Elena says that she’ll talk to Damon. Stefan points out that Damon won’t let her have it if it’s harmful to vampires. Elena asks, “What if it’s not?”
Stefan, Elena, Bonnie, and Damon are gathered and Damon refuses to hand over the device. Elena urges him to hear her out. Bonnie says that she can remove the spell and tells him that she’s been practicing her craft. She proves her improvements by pulling his favorite book from the shelves with telekinesis. Elena says that they will do this her way. Damon says that he can’t trust Bonnie, but Elena tells him that he can trust her. Damon hands the device to Elena.
Uncle John is on the floor and he and Jeremy talk. John tells him that Isobel is after a weapon invented by Jonathon Gilbert to harm other vampires. He tells him about a group of vampires from a long time ago who want revenge on the town. John tells him that they have to destroy all of the vampires while Jeremy points out that there are some good ones. John tells him that there’s no such thing and talks briefly about the family history.
Bonnie performs the spell to remove Emily’s spell on the device and gives it to Elena.
Elena meets Isobel outside the courthouse at night. When Isobel asks where the device is, Elena asks where Jeremy is. Isobel points out that it’s not a negotiation and asks Elena if she thinks that she came alone as two vampires emerge from the shadows. Elena matches her as Damon and Stefan emerge from the shadows. Elena calls home and verifies that Jeremy is OK. Isobel tells Elena that she has no redeeming qualities left in her and tells Elena that Damon is in love with her. Elena gives Isobel the device and thanks her for being “such a monumental disappointment” because it keeps the memory of her real mother intact. Isobel says goodbye and tells her that she is doomed as long as she has a Salvatore on each arm. She tells Elena that Katherine was smart and got out and then tells her that she’s not Katherine. Isobel leaves and Stefan goes to hug Elena. Elena looks at Damon, who looks like someone stole his puppy. Stefan catches a glance at him before he leaves.
Jeremy leaves another voice mail for Anna. Elena enters the room and tries to talk to him. Jeremy tells her that he read her journal and knows everything. They talk about the night that Vickie died and he tells her to get out, closing the door on her as she leaves.
Alaric goes back to the school and finds Isobel there. He asks her what she wants and she tells him that she’s leaving and is there to say goodbye. He confronts her about whether the woman that he married is really gone and takes off his ring. He tells her to kill him or compel him because he doesn’t believe that she doesn’t care about him. She tells him that she wanted and needed this and will forever regret her mistake. She then compels him and alters his memory, telling him that she loved him and she hurts when she thinks about what she gave up. She tells him that his heart is free from her and it will be easier this way. She says goodbye, puts the ring back on his finger, and leaves.
A tearful Anna shows up in Jeremy’s room as he’s heading to bed. She tells him that someone killed her mother and she has nowhere to go. He holds her as she cries.
Stefan and Damon talk about what Isobel revealed to Elena. Stefan expresses his concern about how Elena could be hurt because she considers Damon a friend. Stefan then goes on to tell Damon that history will not repeat itself where Elena is concerned. Damon insists that they are friends and then goes on to tell Stefan that Isobel and John dated when she was 15 and then she showed up at John’s brother’s office to give birth. Stefan asks if he thinks that John is Elena’s father and Damon tells Stefan he will be there for Elena when Stefan drops that bombshell.
John’s cell rings and it’s Isobel telling him that he’ll find the device and his ring on his doorstep and tells him not to screw things up. He tells her that he will not fail. She tells him that Katherine wants all of the tomb vampires dead and she wants to add two more to the list – Stefan and Damon. She goes on to tell John that she doesn’t want “this life” for Elena, reminding him, “She’s our daughter, John.”
Caroline and Bonnie are talking about the rift that is between Bonnie and Elena. Bonnie tells Caroline that she did something really bad and that she pretended to do something that Elena wanted her to do.
Do you think that we’ve seen the last of Isobel? How much do you think that Alaric will remember about her visit to Mystic Falls? I wonder how much of his memory she altered.
Will Elena find out that John is her father before the end of this season?
