Meet the Newest ‘Twilight’ Hunk

www.etonline.com: ET’s introducing you to one of the new castmembers of ‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn.’ ET correspondent Kate Gosselin chatted with new ‘Twilight’ hunk Rami Malek, at ET’s exclusive Emmy party.

Malek told ET that he was thrilled about his upcoming role in “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 2.”

“I think it’s going to be great. It’s going to be super exciting and I’m thrilled,”

Malek said of joining the superstar cast that includes Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner.

Wow, this is so great. We finally get more information on who will be joining the Breaking Dawn cast! There’s rumors some start training on September others until October but we’re almost there and we’ll certainly have a full cast soon.

‘Breaking Dawn’ Scribe Says She’s Wrestling With ‘Battle Scene’

www.mtv.com: In the midst of Emmy mania Sunday night (August 29) — Dresses! Nominees! Celeb couples! — which predictably revolved around the world of TV, pre-show viewers got a pleasant surprise as “Twilight” screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg made her way down a very long red carpet at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. Naturally, when MTV News caught up with the busy scribe, we had to press her for another update on the progress of the “Breaking Dawn” scripts.

Regarding the biggest challenge she faces in finishing “Dawn,” parts 1 and 2, Rosenberg said it’s the climactic “battle scene” — in which the two opposing vampire groups face off in dramatic fashion at the end of the book — that’s proving to be her biggest obstacle, rather than the infamous “birth scene”.

‘Twilight’ stars hit up the Emmy’s

Last night, the 62nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards were held at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live (location sound familiar?), and a few prominent faces of the Twilight world made an appearance.

For starters, Michael Sheen (“Aro”) was there as a nominee for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie for his work in The Special Relationship. In addition, Peter Facinelli (“Carlisle Cullen”) came out to support Nurse Jackie, a nominee, and tweeted about his experience.

“Oops.Went to the bathroom and Edie Falco won an Emmy 4 Nurse Jackie. Missed the whole thing. #emmyfail. Congrats Edie. You deserve it! ”

Nikki Reed Talks Exploring Rosalie’s Backstory

www.mtv.com: As avid book readers well know, once a movie studio decides to adapt a favorite novel into a feature film, certain changes occur. With regard to Stephenie Meyer’s “Twilight Saga,” the filmmakers and screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg have done their best to stay as true to the source material as possible. But one expository aspect that is lost from book to screen is the various backstories of the supporting characters.

When MTV News recently caught up with actress Nikki Reed, who was out promoting her upcoming indie “Last Day of Summer,” she talked about the challenge of portraying Rosalie’s relatability for non-book readers, as well as making the most of her screen time.

‘Twilight’ Author Makes $40 Million Without Writing a Single Book

www.luxist.com: Despite not having written a single book in the past year, Twilight author Stephenie Meyer raked in an eye-popping $40 million from her sexy vampire tales, Forbes reports. Meyer landed the second place spot on the magazine’s new ranking of the world’s highest paid authors, easily eclipsing Harry Potter creator J.K. Rowling. About $7 million of Meyer’s 2009 windfall came from movies adapted from the Twilight series, with most of the balance attributable to previously published works. In June the third Twilight adaptation made $175 million in its first six days.

Breaking Dawn Crew Concerned Over Shooting in Rio?

www.thedeadbolt.com: Although part of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn will be filmed in Rio de Janeiro, the Breaking Dawn plans in Rio may be shelved after a recent firefight and hostage taking incident gave cause for concern.

According to ABC News, the film crew for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn is uneasy about shooting scenes for Breaking Dawn in Rio de Janeiro after a hostage situation at an upscale hotel over the weekend. Riofilme, the company promoting film production in the city, reveals that because of the hostage situation and ensuing firefight, Summit Entertainment is in emergency talks with city officials.

Even though publishers and book sellers are seeing a decline in hard cover sells, e-books show a promising increase in the world of authors as well as highly popular franchises like Twilight and Harry Potter.

Twilight graphic novel gets an iPad release

recombu.com: Fancy some gothic thrills’n'spills on your iPad? No, sorry, the Sisters of Mercy haven’t released an official tablet app. But a little-known vampire series called Twilight Saga has just made its debut on Apple’s device.

Twilight, The Graphic Novel, Volume 1 was already available in a limited Lite version, but now the full thing has touched down on the App Store. It costs £8.99, but for your money you’re getting the whole first instalment of the saga’s graphic novel, as Edward, Bella and company go about their bitey business.

I hope we get to see when Bella and Rosalie talk in the phone while at Isle Esme and when they meet at the airport. It’ll be two films, we have more time, right? And well, we all know that Nikki and Kristen are really good friends, so that’ll help portray a good relation in Breaking Dawn What did you think of Nikki’s interview?

Jackson Rathbone Talks Twilight Breaking Dawn Split In New Clip

Just days ago, Forbes put out its list of Hip-Hop “Cash Kings.” Now it has just come up with a new list: The 10 Highest-Paid Authors.

No. 2: But you could say Twilight author Stephenie Meyer is smarter. She came in at second place this year, even though she didn’t release a new title in 2009. She still earned $40 million. About $7 million of that came from movies adapted from the Twilight series, says Forbes.

ECLIPSE Director David Slade Likely to Helm WOLVERINE 2

www.collider.com: It looks like one of two directors is going to be taking Wolverine to Japan.  Vulture reports that the contenders to helm Wolverine 2 are David Slade (Hard Candy, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse) and Robert Schwentke (The Time Traveler’s Wife, the upcoming Bruce Willis action flick Red).  While both men have been approved by 20th Century Fox brass, the decision comes down to Hugh Jackman, and Vulture says he’s going to choose Slade.

Breaking Dawn, Motorcycles, Alternate Endings & Spoilers…

twilightseriestheories.com: This week we are bringing you some good stuff about Breaking Dawn!  We did discuss the upcoming movie at length, so there is more to come next week too!  We talked in this segment about how the series was going to only be three books!  It would have ended with Eclipse, and Stephenie even has an alternate ending!  There was also some talk about ‘Book-Characters’ vs. ‘Movie-Characters’, and all the spoilers that come with movie previews!

Matt: Okay, so Stephenie we were talking a little bit about how…like how in the tent scene Jacob the first initial scene he wasn’t even touching her because you know sometimes they have to censor it. What is your viewpoint…What is your opinion about how they censor some of the stuff to film from your books? Like some from the past books. Some from the present. Or the future books.

SM: Right. Right. Some of the future. I really want my kids to be able to watch these. Eclipse is a little bit for them…I mean, not that it’s like graphic in any way but just you know, when I read the kids Eclipse I did the chapter when the younger ones were asleep. And it was kind of a thing for me and my son like: “Do you understand what this is about? Let’s talk about it. Let’s have this conversation.” I think my younger ones are a little too young for you know: “What are they talking about, mommy?” And I’m like: “Okay, well when a man and a woman love each other very much…” And I just don’t really wanna go there yet till they’re ready for it! Um, and so I mean, there…I do want them to be something that…You know the fans who are nine? They’re gonna go see them anyway. And I don’t want to have their parents pissed at me you know? I’m okay with them because that’s what our imaginations are for. That’s what, you know,…we have our version of the scenes and if they did them exactly that way? Yeah, okay the rating would be prohibitive. And uh, not everybody could go and see it. And I think that we’ll…In the next one that we’ll have some nice steamy stuff. I think it’ll be good, but I think it’ll also be something that thirteen-year-olds can get into. Which is being true to your audience.

Elysa: There’s also the gory things to consider too, though.

(chatter)

SM: There are the gory things. And the birth scene’s gonna be tricky you know? Particularly because directors love that kind of stuff: “Alright!” We were just talking about like: “We gotta have this and that!” I dunno. It’s so funny how people are so freaked out by the birth scene.

R-Patz and new blood top sexy poll

The obsession with Twilight and all things vampire has put new blood into a list of the world’s sexiest men.

Robert Pattinson and his co-stars in the hit movies and the stars of TV series The Vampire Diaries have overtaken heart-throbs such as Johnny Depp, David Beckham and Brad Pitt in the Glamour.com poll.

R-Patz, 24, who plays vampire Edward Cullen in the Twilight franchise, retains his place at the top of the list. He is joined in the top five by werewolf-playing co-star Taylor Lautner, The Vampire Diaries’ Ian Somerhalder and Twilight stars Xavier Samuel and Kellan Lutz – all new to the sexiest men list.

Kellan Lutz: We start fight training for Breaking Dawn in September

www.examiner.com: Kellan Lutz has been having a terrific (and busy!) year, but is looking forward to starting fight training for Breaking Dawn, the fourth installment in the Twilight saga.

“I believe we might start rehearsals in September – fight training – and then I think start production in November until March in Vancouver and Baton Rouge,” Lutz, 25, told OK! Aug. 10, 2010. “I love doing stunts, I love doing action movies.”

And he’s looking forward to filming in Vancouver so he can go snowboarding. “I love to snowboard, so it’s going to be good to be there in the winter,” he says. “I’m going to be in Vancouver in the wintertime when I can actually use Whistler big time. I’m a big snowboarding junkie.”

Lutz really enjoys the company of his Twilight co-stars, who are genuinely fun, down-to-earth people.

“We just have a really great group of actors who are real people who can just have fun,” says Lutz. “We have so many inside jokes now, and we don’t get sick of each other because these movies are only three to four months of shooting and then we’re off doing our own thing. And then we get excited to come back and it’s like a great family reunion.”

Twilight about to eclipse ‘New Moon!’

www.hollywood.com: Another box office milestone in the “Twilight” saga is about to howl at the moon as Summit Entertainment’s “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” prepares to suck the life out of its predecessor’s revenue generating superiority.

$296,623,634 is the total final domestic box office for “New Moon.”  Through Tuesday, August 17 its successor, “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” has a running total of $296,268,343 – a difference of $355,291.  Here is the breakdown: earlier this week “Eclipse” earned $214,712 on Monday, August 16 and $211,187 on Tuesday, August 17.

If we conservatively put Wednesday’s gross at $200,000 and another $200,000 on Thursday, the film will surpass its box office brethren this Thursday.  This is no small feat considering that “Eclipse” is the third film in the series, opened in the much more competitive summer movie season (the first two films opened in late November) and had a first weekend gross ($64.8 million) that was smaller than “New Moon’s” first day!

And even though these two films share much of the same cinematic DNA, their box office trajectory could not be more different.  Notably, “New Moon’s” theatrical run was super front loaded with a final domestic total that was just 2 times its opening weekend gross of $142,839,137 whereas “Eclipse’s” running total will be 4.5 times its $64.8 million weekend debut.

Ke$ha and Ashley Greene join the star-studded presenters list for the live show on September 12.

One is a teen pop phenomenon known for inducing Beatles-level hysteria in his fans, the other, a free-spirit Atlanta MC whose debut album suddenly shot to pop success. Now, Justin Bieber and B.o.B are set to hit the stage as performers at this year’s 2010 MTV Video Music Awards. Bieber and B.o.B join already announced performers Kanye West, Drake and Florence and the Machine.

Four-time nominee Ke$ha and “Twilight” star Ashley Greene will also be among the night’s presenters when the show goes live on September 12 from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. The night will mark the first VMA performances for both Bieber (who presented at last year’s ceremony) and B.o.B.
