OBS Staff member Katie brings you your weekly True Blood recap and review: True Blood Season 2 Episode 11 Frenzy Quick Summary – Bill seeks help for the town of Bon Temps. Jason, Andy and Sam become the town’s new law enforcement. Hoyt learns the sad truth about Jessica and his father. And Sam goes to some unlikely people for some much needed help. Character Check Bill – Upon walking into Queen Sophie-Ann’s, Bill find her feeding on a human. They go through some small talk about how Bill is a snob for not feeding on people (other than Sookie.) He again hears that you can’t kill a maenad, but he does learn that the reason Maryann looks and acts like a human (ok semi-human) is because they trick themselves into believing that they really are humans. Maenads also won’t leave until they have brought the God Sicily back and he requires a supernatural sacrifice. Hayley is at Sophie’s house and tells Bill to tell Sookie hi and Hayley inquires about Gran. She doesn’t know that Gran is dead. Eric shows up at the Queen’s house and so Bill goes back and forth with him about leaving Sookie alone, Bill even threatens Eric telling him that if he doesn’t back off Bill would tell the Queen that he was having humans sell V. Hoyt – Pulls Jessica off his mother, so she doesn’t suck her dry. He is so pissed that he leaves Jessica. Once Hoyt and his Mom are home she starts preparing a “gift” for the god that is going to come. Hoyt tells her to knock it off. Then they get on the subject of Hoyt’s dad. He had always been told that he died saving Hoyt and his Mom from an intruder, but the truth comes out and it turns out that Hoyt’s dad shot himself in the head. Sam – Sam tells Andy and Jason that he is a shape shifter and can turn into any kind of animal he sees. Jason decides that they need to be the town’s law enforcement and as he is talking about his plan Sam sees someone peeping into his window. Sam runs outside to find Arlene’s kids hiding in the trees. They don’t know where else to go because everyone in the town including their mom is under Maryann’s spell. While talking to Arlene’s kids, Sam gets an idea to ask Eric and Pam for help. Sam goes to ask a Eric if he knows how to kill a maenad. Once home, Bill shows up at his door with a weird look on his face. Jason – After leaving Sam with the kids, Andy and Jason go to the police station to get some guns and ammo. Jason distracts the girl that’s holding down the fort while Andy gets the goods. Andy ends up running into another sheriff who is under Maryann’s spell. Another sheriff sneaks up on Jason and Andy saves him only to be shot in the chest (lucky he had a bullet proof vest on.) Sookie – Tara, now back to herself, wants to save Eggs. Sookie won’t let her! Lafayette doesn’t want Tara to try and escape so he handcuffs her to a table but when they hear noises outside, Sookie and Lafayette check to see what’s going on. They start talking and Sookie finds out that Lafayette also has dreams about Eric. Tara’s mom comes out acting like she is super flustered with Tara. This was all a distraction; she gets the gun and points it at Lafayette and Sookie to make them let set Tara free. Sookie lets Tara go. After Tara is long gone, Lafayette and Sook go after her. But when they get to Sookie’s house, Terry and Arlene stop them. Lafayette gives them drugs to distract them. While he was taking care of them Sookie went inside and got stopped by this guy and if she tried to leave him he would scream so he made her sit on the floor and lay with him. She finally tricks him and gets away, to find Eggs and Tara in a room smashing all of her Grans old things. They were yelling at Sookie that they needed it for a nest and on the table there was a homemade nest with a egg in it. Lafayette – With Tara’s Mom holding the gun at him he started hallucinating that Eric was the one holding the gun. He begins panicking while the gun is aimed at him due to him being shot previously. At Sookie’s house, while Sookie is inside, Lafayette has a run in with Maryann. He tries to shoot her in the head but she blocks it with her hand and it bounces off and hits and kills Carl. Lafayette goes to find Sookie and when he does you see that he now has crazy black eyes like the rest of the town. Tara – When Sookie and Lafayette go outside, Tara starts telling her Mom that she is still listening to the devil and that the devil will always be with her until she does something selfless for someone else. Tara starts begging her Mom to get the key for the handcuffs and let her go save Eggs. Her mom finally agrees. When Tara gets away back to Maryann’s she finds Eggs but he is still under Maryann’s spell. Maryann comes into the room and tries to spell Tara again and it doesn’t work at first because Tara tries to fight it. But Maryann slaps her and magically she is under Mary’s influence again. Again this wasn’t a super amazing show, but it was good. Ahh!!! next week is going to be the last episode of the season. I’m not sure what I’m going to do with myself! One really good thing in this episode – there was more Eric in it than last time. And even though he wasn’t fighting for Sookie’s attention, he was still oh so cute! Calling Arlene’s kids Teacup Humans was hilarious!! I got a call from my friend last night asking me if Sam was going to die. Now how in the heck am I supposed to know if Sam is going to die? I understand that I have read the books but umm HELLO the show is getting way different from the books. Anything can happen. Oh and did I mention I hadn’t even seen the newest episode yet? Once I was done watching it though, I thought she was crazy for calling me and asking me that because there is no reason to believe that Sam is going to die. She must not have fully listened to what Sophie-Ann said! I can’t wait for the last Episode!! What do you think is going to happen in next week’s episode? Will Maryann finally die? Who do you think is going to be the one to kill her? What might Eric make Sam do as a favor for helping him?

MICHELLE FORBES/MARYANN: STIRRING PEOPLE UP (TRUE BLOOD)
Author: Dawn | Filed under: Interviews, News Blog, TV Show NewsLast night on True Blood, we all clung to the edge of our seats as Sookie, Jason, and Bill returned to find their sweet hometown of Bon Temps ravaged by Maryann Forrester’s madness.

How did you prepare for this role—were there any characters you drew inspiration from?
I watched a lot of Ken Russell films. These women are running around dancing and drinking. Running through the hills of the countryside of England—being mad. Those were the two places thinking about “abandon” and hedonism in a way that certainly we’ve experienced time and time again. I also thought a lot about Lydia Lunch in the 80s in New York. She was a woman who had no boundaries and was very sexually free. And sort of revolutionized music with all of that chaos and destruction of rules and boundaries and limitations. So many people in New York City were doing the same thing, really trying to breakdown these social ideals and be creative in a different way. It came through the funnel of chaos and destruction.
What do you find liberating about playing a character with so few limits?
For 18 hours a day, you’d have to be completely free. It was a joy to go to work. Run around in evening dresses. Causing mischief.

OMG I just want to kick her ass, she drives me insane. But at least she makes me feel something. She is definitely not a bland character.
I cannot wait to see how this plays out. Do you like the character MaryAnn from True Blood? Why or why not?

True Blood Season 2 Episode 9 I will rise up Review
Quick Summary - Wounded Eric tricks Sookie into drinking blood. Sookie and Jason bond over what had just happened . Lafayette and Lettie Mae try to figure out a way to get Tara away from Eggs and Maryann. Hoyt has to defend Jessica from his Mom. Sam escapes from Maryann. Godric takes the blame for what has happened.
Character Check -
Bill - After seeing the bomb go off, Bill goes running inside Godric’s nest looking for Sookie. Eric sends him to go find the humans that planned the bomb. He finds one and starts drinking his blood. He ends up sparing his life, but gives them a warning. Bill comes back to find Sookie sucking a bullet out of Eric’s chest. He holds in his anger towards Eric, while he tries to tell Sookie that it’s not her fault, she had been tricked by Eric who has had a lot of years to prefect the art of deceiving.
Jessica – Still upset about the fact that she is forever going to be a virgin. She attempts to talk Hoyt into leaving her, but he won’t have it. Hoyt tells Jessica that he wants her to meet his Mamma. It’s almost dawn and Jessica needs to get to sleep, so Hoyt waits by the door and sings to her while she falls asleep. While at dinner with Hoyt and his Mom, Jessica tells Momma Hoyt how she was changed into a vampire with out a choice and that she has no family. Hoyts mom feels bad but not bad enough. She then starts arguing with Jessica about how no vampire could be with her son and tells Jessica that she can’t have babies with Hoyt, which makes Jessica run off crying.
Sam – still locked in jail. When he hears that Maryann is in the building he sees a fly and shifts. He goes off to Andy’s house to get help.
Tara – Wakes up with bruises on her arms and face. Her and Eggs both don’t know what happened again. Tara is starting to think she is going crazy. Maryann starts preaching to them saying that they’re not crazy and gets very upset about it, she even starts to cry. Lafayette sees Tara bruises and blames Eggs. Later that night Lafayette and Lettie Mae go to Tara’s to try and get her to come home but Maryann posseses Eggs and Tara, they start beating up Lafayette and Lettie. But Lafayette some how manages to get a hold of Tara and he runs off with her.
Hoyt – After he was done singing to Jessica he goes home to tell his Momma that he wanted her to meet Jessica. She doesn’t want to agree to it. But Hoyt convinces her to do it, since she always hates everything with out a reason. He even threatens her that if she isn’t nice at dinner that he was moving out. When they went to dinner she was nice at first, then just couldn’t take it anymore and started trouble. Hoyt told his mom right then and there, she just blew it and he won’t be coming home ever.
Sookie – After Eric makes Sookie suck the bullet out of his chest, she finds out that he was fine. Sookie says that she is never going to do anything for him ever again. Bill warns Sookie that she might start to develop feelings for Eric because they have shared blood. Sookie can’t fall asleep that night so she goes over to Jason’s room, turns out that he couldn’t sleep either. They stayed up and talked about what had just happened – how sorry they where and also a bit about their Gran. When she finally falls asleep she has a dream that her and Eric are in her bed together (naked might I add). There flirting back and forth. Eric tells Sookie that she would be a great vampire. Sookie tries to think about Bill, but Isabel shows up and tells her that she obviously doesn’t care about Bill. Eric and Sookie start to kiss, Eric mentions that he only loves Sookie. Godric gets blamed for everything that has happened. Eric is very upset by all of this. Sookie hears Godric tell Eric to meet him on the roof. Sookie convinces Bill to let her go see them. When she gets to the roof she promises Eric that she will stay with Godric until he burns. Godric and Sookie have a very touching conversation. Talking about how God doesn’t punish, Godric will be forgiven. Sookie even starts to cry, which surprises Godric.
Eric - Knowing what Godric is planning on doing is eating Eric up. Bill even slaps Eric for trying to take Sookie away from him and he does nothing about it. Eric tries to stop Godric from taking his life while on the roof. He begs and pleads but Godric doesn’t listen, he just commands Eric to let him be. Eric even starts crying and repeating please, please Godric (In an old language).
I’m not going to lie, I think I’m about to cry. I was practically in tears watching the episode and now writing about it, just makes me want to cry again. This episode was the most touching ever. Hoyt (I know, I will get to Eric soon) was a total cutie sticking up for Jessica.
When Sookie called Jason stupid I just about died. That was hilarious.
Ok, on to Eric, WOW! I don’t even know what to say. I just wanted to comfort him so bad. Yes he tricked Sookie but so what! That’s just how Eric rolls. But you could tell that he really cared for Godric. I mean he was his creator after all. When he was crying though, that just broke my heart. I hope we never have to see him like that again. And Godric, aww he was wonderful. The way this episode ended was perfect!
Did you like this episode? Would you have liked it if they kept Godric alive? Was Eric wrong for tricking Sookie? Is Bill not fighting for Sookie like he should be?
OBS RECAP & REVIEW: TRUE BLOOD S2 – EPISODE 8: TIME BOMB
Author: Dawn | Filed under: News Blog, TV Recap & ReviewOBS Staff member Katie brought us our weekly R&R of ‘True Blood’
Quick Summary – Sookie and Eric find themselves in a bit of trouble at the fellow ship, only to be saved by Bill, Jason, and of course Godric. Sam gets framed for a murder. Tara and Eggs are trying to piece together facts on why they have been blacking out, when they eat a little dinner that gives them some super human strength. Jessica and Hoyt have a great night alone together. While spending the night at Godric’s nest a unwanted visitor comes and has a little message from the Newlins.
Character Check
Jessica – Realizes that she is always going to be a virgin because she is a vampire and they heal (which upsets her a lot.)
Maryann – Cuts up Daphne’s heart and cooks it in some kind of “pot pie” type thing.
Tara – Lafayette is showing Tara her future, by doing a tarot card reading. It’s showing her that she is going to have to make some kind of choice. But before he can tell her what kind of choice Eggs walks in the room, freaking out because he blacked out again. (He found himself at a lake in the middle of no where). When they go back to the house to talk more, Maryann feeds them Daphne’s heart and it gives them some kind of super strength.
Sam – Gets a call from his bar but no one was on the other line, so he walks over there and ends up finding Daphne’s body in the freezer. As he’s about to cover the body up he decides to call the police instead. While on the phone with the sheriffs office the sheriff shows up. (someone has framed Sam.) He gets taken in for questioning. Andy tries to tell the police that Sam didn’t do it. (that a bull in a dress did.) They continue to think he is a crazy drunk. Sam spends a night in jail.
Jason – Who we saw get shot in the last episode, is still alive. Sarah shot him with a paint ball gun. Sarah tells him that Sookie is locked in the fellowship church. Jason runs to go save Sookie. He helps save Eric and Bill in the end. Godric tells him he will always have friends if he is ever in his area again. Eric confronts Jason about him using V. They are now “even” and Jason has promised to never touch it again. (finally after coming to his senses and realizing that Vampires are not all bad.) He tells Bill that he is sorry for the way he has acted and allows Sookie and Bill to continue dating.
Godric – Saves Sookie from Gabe. When Eric comes in the room to save Sookie, Godric tells him to leave and save the human. Isabel is still in love with Hugo and because of that he leaves Hugo alone, but Hugo must never show is face in Dallas again.
Bill – Still locked in a room with Lorena. Can sense that Sookie is in even more trouble. As Lorena is busy talking/feeding on Barry the bell hop, he throws her down and hits her in the head with a plasma TV. Grabs Barry and takes him to safety then goes off to check on Jessica (he finds her with Hoyt.) He demands Hoyt to take her back home if he really did love her. Then he goes to find Sookie. Which when he does he finds himself in a room full of fellowship members ready to kill.
Lorena – After getting knocked out by Bill, Lorena show’s up at Godric’s nest and starts trouble with Sookie. Godric tells her that vamps like her (no morals) are what makes everyone so afraid of Vampires. Then she gets escorted out of the nest by Bill, who tells her that he never wants to see her again.
Eric – Obeying Godric’s orders, Eric tries to get Sookie out of harms way. Eric pretends to be human to get out of the church but it doesn’t work. Sookie and Eric try to escape from the front of the church but Steve is there to stop them. Then all the doors open and groups of people come in, with stakes in hand. Eric sacrifices himself so that they will let Sookie and Godric go free. They tied him up with silver chains. Once Jason and Bill come Sookie helps pull them off of him. Eric wants to kill Newlin but stops when Godric comes into the room and tells everyone they need to go home. Eric also gets warned from Bill that he is to stay away from Sookie. Eric finds out that the reason Godric didn’t just kill the fellowship members and leave is because he is tired of being seen as a monster. And humans and vamps should be able to get along.
Sookie – While Sookie and Eric where trying to escape the fellowship, she starts asking Eric questions about Godric. Eric just basically tells Sookie that she doesn’t understand what she is talking about. Sookie confronts Bill on why he didn’t save her, he wouldn’t really answer so she is lead to believe that Eric set this whole thing up. When Lorena is talking to Bill he looks like she’s about to lean in for a kiss, which Sookie actually stops her.
Ok wow HOLY FREAKING FLANNEL SHIRT!! By far my favorite episode ever!! So much happened. I’m pretty sure everyone can guess I’m a total Eric fan and can I just say his character gets better and better with each show. I thought it was so cute when he was telling Sookie that she didn’t understand what she was talking about and then she changed what she had said, he came back with “Don’t say words I don’t understand” hehehe you can’t say that isn’t cute!! I’m really glad that this episode had less Maryann in it, her story is getting tiresome. Oh, and at first I wasn’t liking them bringing in Lorena just yet, but the way this episode ended I guess it kinda leads the way for the next season. I haven’t read the books in forever and a day, but I’m totally thinking that Eric might try and save Sookie when the bomb goes off, I mean from the looks of it Bill is still outside. AHH I just can’t wait!!
What did you think of this episode? Was it action packed enough for you? Are you a fan of Maryann? If you have read the books do you feel they’re doing a good job staying to them?
OBS RECAP & REVIEW: TRUE BLOOD S2 – EPISODE 7: RELEASE ME
Author: Dawn | Filed under: News Blog, TV Recap & ReviewOBS Staff member Katie brought us our weekly R&R of ‘True Blood’
Did catch this weeks episode of True Blood? Well, that’s ok. Well, not really. You so need to go watch it like RIGHT now. But for now I guess reading my review will have to do.
Quick Summary – Sam finds himself getting betrayed by Daphne. Who takes him to Maryann’s crazy orgy party. (which isn’t really what it seems). Bill’s maker Lorena came into the picture on Eric’s behalf. To stop Bill from saving Sookie. Mean while, Sookie and Hugo are stuck in the basement of the Fellow Ship of the Sun Church. Jason tries to leave the Fellow Ship but gets stopped by Steve and Gabe. Sookie then later runs into some trouble with Gabe, when a missing vampire comes in the room to save her.
Character Check
Maryann – Showing her true colors in this episode. Mary puts on her bull head mask and uses what ever powers she has to energize the people of Bon Temps. And have them all gather for a utterly weird orgy. Has Ben kill Daphne.
Sam – After he runs into Maryann Sam’s a bit freaked out and needs to figure out what’s going on with Daphne and Maryann. So he goes back to his bar grabs his gun and heads off to find Daphne. Sam finds out that Daphne has been with Marry for awhile and gets her to admit what Maryann really isn’t. A Maenad
Jessica – Has her first night alone with Hoyt. But must sleep because it is daylight. When she awakes Hoyt was ever so romantic and had candles and roses laid out for them.
Andy – Walked into Maryann’s orgy and saw everything, fired his gun which made it easy for Sam to escape. When he goes to tell the other sheriffs they think he is just being his drunk old self again.
Jason – Slept with Sarah Newlin, but then starts to regret it when she mentions that she needs to tell her husband. Then he tries to leave the Fellow Ship only to be stopped my Steve and Gabe. Gabe is ordered to kill him, but when he starts talking about Sookie. Jason finds the strength to attack Gabe and run off. Later to be found by Sarah who shoots him.
Tara – Wakes up from a night she cant remember (she was under Maryann’s spell) the face that she doesn’t remember, scares her a bit. Her and Ben start to think its from smoking to much. Arlene confides in Tara about not remembering what happened the night before. And you can tell that Tara is starting to but two and two together.
Lafayette – Starts selling vials of Vampire blood again only this time its for Eric.
Bill – Locked in a his room with his maker Lorena. Gives him time to remember his past and shows him why he left Lorena in the first place. Neither Bill or Lorena have went to sleep since they’ve been locked up. (note: If vamps stay up lo long they start to bleed) Barry the bell hop has a message for Bill but Lorena pretends Bill isn’t there. Lorena tells Bill that Eric wants Sookie.
Sookie – In the basement of the Fellow Ship with Hugo. They’ve been locked up because they’re vampire lovers. Hugo is constantly worrying, he doesn’t think there ever going to get out. Sookie tries to calm him down but it doesn’t work all to well. She decided to try something new with her telepathy by contacting Barry the bell hop. Hugo tells Sookie everything, turns out he is a spy for the Fellow Ship. Gabe comes in the room angry and tries to rape Sookie. But the missing Godric comes in and pulls him off her
Eric – Has been keeping an eye on the Fellow Ship with Isabel. When a conversation starts up about what attracts Isabel to a human. Accuses Stan of wanting to take over Godric’s Area. Later on he hears Barry’s message for Bill and runs out of his room right away to go help Sookie.
Ok so this episode was GREAT! I loved it. I’ve read the books and so I know what’s supposed to happen and I really had no clue how they where going to portray that part of the book, but the people at HBO did a wonderful job. Oh and can I just at WOAH BUDDY GODRIC IS A LOOKER! Oh and of course Eric is just as cute as ever. I loved how when Isabel asked him if he liked Sookie he tried to deny it, but as soon as he heard that Sookie was in trouble he shot out of his room faster than ever to go save her.
What did you enjoy about this episode? Would you change anything?
Did they choose the right actor to play Godric? What about Eric, is Isabel right Eric does have a thing for Sookie?
