SOOKIE STACKHOUSE BOOKS COMING TO AN END

Charlaine Harris Says It’s Time For Sookie’s

Story To End.

“Truthfully, the next two books will probably be the last two books in the series,” Harris said last week. “I still love Sookie, but I’m beginning to want to write something else, and Sookie’s kind of taken over my life. I was able to write other things for the first few years I was involved in Sookie, but then after the start of the television show she took over so much of my time because of my increased publicity obligations that it’s been very hard to write other things, and I really need to do that.”

When I first saw the URL for this article I seriously thought the HBO hit True Blood was ending. But after reading it I have to say I agree. As much as I love the Sookie Stackhouse novels I’ve felt that the last few books have been lacking, they seemed like fluff or as someone said in a comment a ‘place holder’. Every good book series has to come to an end, no matter how much you may love the characters and the story. If you let them go on for too long it may start to spoil your love for it, and who wants that. I know I sure don’t!

Further on in the article Harris talks about her latest project, an online game called Dying for Daylight. I think it’s really cool that she is branching out of the norm and trying different things. Seriously a ‘video’ game if you will, how awesome is that! And the pictures make it look pretty dang interesting. The game will be available this Friday at iplay.com

You know I haven’t read any of Charlaine Harris’s other books. But if the rumors are true and CBS does pick up her Connelly series and I end up liking the TV show. I’m going to have to read the books also.

As for her talking about True Blood, I will admit that it is more X rated than her books. Which can make it a little awkward when your aunt wants to watch True Blood with you, haha. You know I kind of like that Alan Ball isn’t following the books to a T. Makes it fun to see what’s going to happen next, all I ask is that the outcome of each season matches up with the books. Which so far it has. I’m just praying that he follows the book more for the fourth season, it’s my favorite book and I want to see it get justice.

So what do you think about the Sookie Stackhouse series ending? What were your thoughts on the last book? How about this online game, looks pretty cool huh? Will you be checking out? If you do please come share with us what you think of it on the forums! What about the Connelly series, have you read it? Would you like to see it become a prime time TV show? And of course can’t forget True Blood, do you think it shows too much skin? I mean it is an HBO show, you should go in to it knowing it may get a little racy. Oh and do you like that it doesn’t follow the books exactly? I want your thoughts, why do you like it and if you don’t like it why?
