Pippa Grayhawk is at a loss for what to do when she runs away with her forbidden lover, only to be left by him once he finds out she’s pregnant with his child. And, even worse she finds out that he’s married and that everything he told her were lies to get what he wanted from her, sex!
Pippa’s dad, Matt Grayhawk, is there to pick up the pieces and take her home. But after seeing how Pippa’s being treated by others, he decides to move them back to Wyoming where he grew up. His estranged father has offered to give him the family ranch if he lives there for a year. His sisters that currently live there aren’t happy to see his return and make Pippa’s life even more difficult.
In effort to flee her aunts’ cruel behavior towards her, she saddles up a horse and goes on a ride. She comes across a beautiful meadow where she meets a handsome stranger, Devon Flynn. He later offers her sanctuary from all her troubles at home, but she can’t bring herself to tell him about the baby she’s carrying. Will the truth ruin their budding romance once and for all?
I have to say that I really enjoyed this book and just kept wanting to read more and more.
I did feel that there were too many storylines going on and too many points of view at times, making the book longer than it needed to be. I also got annoyed with Pippa for a couple reasons, one was her insisting she was going to do what was best for her baby and then waiting months to see a doctor. It also bothered me when she kept leading Devon on, but then pushing him away because she couldn’t fess up to him.
Speaking of Devon … I absolutely loved him! He was a sweet fun hunky cowboy. Bringing home all the injured animals to heal them … what girl could resist? My heart broke for him when his family’s big secret was revealed. The way he found out about Pippa was terrible too. And, after all that he still found it in his heart to love Pippa and her unborn child. But does she return that love? You will have to read the book to find out!
I was a little disappointed we didn’t get more details in the ending. I wanted to see more of what happened with all involved, especially the baby!! I’m hoping we’ll see more in the next book of the series, but beings this is the first of the series that I’ve had the pleasure of reading, I’m not sure if the books are connected or not …
