Synopsis:shadow-rider

The #1 New York Times bestselling “queen of paranormal romance” * is back with a sexy new series starring a Chicago crime family that hides a dark, mystical secret…

Whether it’s fast cars or fast women, Stefano Ferraro gets what he wants. When he’s not fodder for the paparazzi, he commands Ferraro family businesses—both legitimate and illegitimate.

While their criminal activity is simply a rumor yet to be proven, no one knows the real truth. The Ferraros are a family of shadow riders capable of manipulating light and dark, an ability Stefano thought ran in his family alone—until now…

With little left to her name, Francesca Cappello has come to Chicago in hopes of a new life. She wasn’t expecting to attract the attention of a man with primal hunger in his eyes, driven to claim her as his to protect and to please. And if he discovers her secret, it could ruin her…

Review:

I must say that I felt a little nervous starting a new series by author Christine Feehan because her series include a lot of books, which make it emotionally difficult to wait for the next book in each series ;). Was I ready to embark in a new adventure with hot guys in every page? No, I was not. Did I embark in it anyway? Yes, I did, and boy did I do the right thing.

In Feehan’s new series Shadow Rider the reader is instantly introduced to the luxurious, yet mysterious Ferraro family. The Ferraro are an Old Italian family who worry for the safety of those under their care, and although, they might seem all fun and games, the Ferraro are careful of the actions they take because one wrong move can jeopardize the whole family. The head of the family is Stefano Ferraro whose world only revolved in protecting his family and their business, until Francesca Cappello came along to change it forever.

Compared the books in Feehan’s Dark Prince Series, the Shadow Series starts off in a similar way with an instant meet up between the story’s main couple. This brought back memories of how Mikael and Raven were the first couple formed, and from then on we get the rest of the couple’s stories, which I just can’t wait for. I think I already decided on my favorite Ferraro brother, Riccos, which intrigues me to learn about his past.

Throughout the story, the reader is introduced to several members of the Ferraro family, and some of their history. We learn why the Ferraro take a lot of safety measures when working on an assignment or out in public. Something that caught my attention was the relationship the Ferraro siblings have with their parents. It will be interesting to know more about that in future books.

Stefano and Francesca’s relationship was different than what I’m used to reading from Feehan, yet very intense. I liked that Stefano lets Francesca know immediately that he’s not playing around like the media portrays him. He is committed to their relationship. At the same time, Francesca is reluctant to open her heart to Stefano remembering what happened to her sister, but as the story progresses, she has a change of heart.

“I’m telling you straight up that I want a relationship with you, a permanent one. Exclusive.”

My favorite part must have been the epic ending. The way last scenes are described it makes it sound like the Ferraro siblings are shooting and action movie. But what really gave it a scary movie vibe was Vittorio and his music.

Shadow Rider is just the cherry on the top of this new series, it works great as an introduction story, and keeps the reader wanting more. There’s so many characters that I’m hoping get their own story, just like characters that are lightly mentioned which it’ll be interesting to know from. If you’re a fan of Christine Feehan and her books, you will definitely like Shadow Rider.
