Synopsis:

Romance isn’t an option for Holly Greenwood. With her wedding planner career on the line she needs to stay focused, and that means pleasing her demanding boss, not getting distracted by her mind-altering hot neighbor . . .

Ex-Marine Kevin Vandemeer craves normalcy. Instead, he has a broken-down old house in need of a match and some gasoline, a meddling family, and the uncanny ability to attract the world’s craziest women. At least that last one he can fix: he and his buddies have made a pact to swear off women, and this includes his sweetly sexy new neighbor.

After one hot night that looks a whole lot like a disaster in the light of day, Kevin and Holly are about to learn that true love doesn’t play by the rules . . .

The first book in a spin-off from Denise Grover Swank’s New York Times bestselling Wedding Pact series!

Review:

Only You is book one in the Bachelor Brotherhood series by Denise Grover Swank and the first book I have read by this author.  I have Ms. Swank on my “to be read” pile for a while now.  I am glad I was afforded the opportunity to finally read one of her creations. I am only sad that I waited so long! I see a Swank reading binge in my future ☺.

Only You is the story of Holly, a hard working granddaughter trying to support her grandmother’s expensive care facility bills.

Holly wanted to own her own wedding-planning business, and after years of working at a local hotel, she’d jumped at the change to work beside one of the best event planners in the area. Holly told herself the experience she was getting was worth putting up with Nicole”.

Nicole Vandemeer – the boss from he**, who took credit for all of Holly’s idea’s and hard work.  However, life was going well until the other half of the duplex is sold….

Kevin Vandemeer, after his tour of duty moves next door to Holly into a “money pit.”  What is he going to do?  His sister Megan chose this house – a fixer upper – for Kevin to move into while beginning his civilian life. Meanwhile – Kevin and two of his buddies – Matt and Tyler – have entered into a pact to not date – bachelor brotherhood.  Then Kevin gets a glimpse of his new neighbor.

The chemistry between the two is off the charts.  The storytelling is gripping and I truly felt as if I was part of the story.  I laughed when it was the pets that brought these two together.  And then there was the obligatory misunderstandings between the two. Why don’t people communicate, instead of assuming? But when push came to shove, Holly and Kevin were able to be honest with each other and work through the hard times (and enjoy the good times).  They even worked together to overcome the dragon lady (aka Nicole…aka Kevin’s mom).

I really liked Holly’s grandmother.  She was the sole caregiver of Holly and her cousin, Melanie while they were growing up due to an accident which killed both of Holly’s and Melanie’s parents.  But now she is in a care facility suffering from dementia.  When Grandma Barb was not having bouts of memory loss – she really hit home the importance of loving ones family and finding that special someone to love.  She just wanted what was best for her two girls.

There were certainly chuckle worthy moments, especially with respect to both Holly’s and Kevin’s pets-Killer and Whiskers.  And I must say, the sexy, steamy parts were definitely sexy and steamy…but respectful and left enough to the imagination – just the way I like it.  All in all, the interactions not only between the two main characters BUT all of the characters introduced in this story were well told and interesting. The story was such that I had a hard time letting go and tended to read in big blocks of time, ignoring other life commitments (like meals and dishes), it was that good.

You will have to read the story in its entirety to find out what happens to the bachelor brotherhood…..But it is definitely worth the read.
