We all knew that Stryker would be out for blood, after Nick killed his sister.   Now, it’s his time of reckoning!  He sneaks down into the Underworld and wakes the powerful god, War, to kill Acheron and Nick.  It took the other Gods working together to contain him before and it could take a miracle to stop him now.

When War fights Nick it unbinds his powers, powers that even Ash didn’t know he possessed!  Nick is the Malachai, the only thing that can actually kill War.  Unfortunately, he doesn’t yet know how to use his powers.

Artemis realizes the only reason that Stryker would awaken War would be to kill Acheron.  Even though, Ash wants nothing to do with Artemis, she can’t let him be killed.  She sends Zephyra, Stryker’s ex-wife, who he believes is dead, to kill Stryker.  Stryker is shocked when he sees the love of his life in the flesh.  The woman he left in order to protect her from his father that broke both their hearts in the process.  Even more shocking is when their daughter he didn’t know was ever born shows up!  Stryker would do anything to be with Zephyra again if only he can convince her to forgive him.  And he quickly learns that she possesses the only creature in existence that can kill the Malachai.  If he can get her to have Nick killed, then nobody can stop War from killing Ash!

Enemies will have to band together in an unlikely alliance to stop what has been unleashed on the world.  But can these enemies put their grievances behind them for the greater good?

This book was okay.  The beginning was incredibly boring to me.  It got better, but was still just okay.  A lot did happen in this book though and I found it to be an important read for the continuation of the series.

And, it looks like Nick just might have to suck it up and work with Ash if he ever wants to truly discover his own capabilities.  Maybe; hopefully this will be what the two need to start repairing their friendship.

There is a little romance in this book with Stryker and Zephyra, but it really takes a backseat to everything else that is going on.

I’m interested to see what will happen in the next book, although it does not look good for the human race.  Ash’s Dark-Hunters will definitely have their work cut out for them!
