TWO MORE JOIN HBO’S TRUE BLOOD CAST

Earlier this week, it was announced that Prison Break actor Marshall Allman would be joining the cast of True Blood‘s third season playing Tommy Mickens, Sam Merlotte’s long-lost younger brother. Now we’ve got two more additional to the cast.

According to The Hollywood Reporter’s Feed Blog, Theo Alexander and Ugly Betty heartthrob Grant Bowler have landed recurring roles on Alan Ball’s vampire drama.

Alexander will play Talbot, an “intensely beautiful” vampire, the boyfriend of Russell Edgington (Denis O’Hare), the vampire king of Mississippi. Talbot has an acerbic sense of humor and loves to cook despite vampires’ inherent lack of cooking talents.

THE VAMPIRE DIARIES: MORE UPDATES ON THE DAMON-ELENA STORY

As BuddyTV reported previously, The Vampire Diaries will be kicking off the new year with a “very Damon and Elena-centric story.” Though The CW has not released an official synopsis regarding the 11th episode of the series, we’ve stumbled on a few clues that will hopefully get you through this dry spell.

Warning: This article may contain spoilers.  When we last saw The Vampire Diaries, Elena discovered the picture of her splitting image, Katherine, just after making love to Stefan, and then got herself into a car “accident” on her way home.

‘CAPRICA’ COULD BRING SCI-FI TO MAINSTREAM

Since relaunching under its new name, Syfy has been blowing away audience records with freshman hits like “Warehouse 13” and “Stargate: Universe,” and continuing to bring fans back through shows like “Eureka” and “Sanctuary.”

But unfortunately, even the most talked-about shows like “Battlestar Galactica” have not been translating into the kind of viewers the network was hoping for … something that could change with the BSG prequel “Caprica” premieres in January, Syfy president Dave Howe said.

“‘Battlestar’ was a spectacular flagship show for us,” Howe told Forbes magazine. “The level of critical acclaim around that show was pretty unprecedented for any cable network. But ultimately, it didn’t bring in as many viewers as it had the potential to do because it was on a network called SciFi and it was set in space.”

Vampires lend more than a scare or brooding glance to society…they also help donate blood. How ironic. I think Bites for Blood Drive is a great cause and the True Blood Twitter players really sink into their roles, so if you haven’t hopped on board the Twitter train now is a perfect opportunity, especially if your a True Blood fan and first and foremost, it’s for a worthy cause.

The cast of True Blood keeps getting prettier and prettier. I love the new choices in casting. What do you think about the hunks that have been added?

I couldn’t bring myself to read all of the Vampire Diaries spoilers for Damon and Elena because I love to be surprised, but I am excited that Damon and Elena will have more of a ‘relationship’ in the coming season.  Love triangles are so juicy and will make the series that much more exciting to watch. Soon we’ll be seeing Team Stefan and Team Damon paraphernalia hit the market…just watch!

Whatever makes science fiction more accessible to mainstream viewing is a good thing. People need to branch out past all those crazy reality shows that hog up most of their time anyway. Enough with the ambulance chasing! Hopefully Caprica will broaden SyFy’s reach even further.
