Zoey is a tough-as-nails kind of girl, but it doesn’t stop her brother Dawg from trying to control her life and keep her safe. The slightest thing can send Dawg running her way to ruin all her fun! She couldn’t wait to get out from under her family’s roof so she can have her own independence! She now has her own place that she shares with her friend, Eli. She runs in secret bike races, but is at a disadvantage as Eli has purposefully been choking her bike’s power to stay in Dawg’s good graces, but it’s keeping her from having any chance to win!
Dawg has strategically placed men he trusts near his sisters for his weird form of matchmaking. But his plans have not worked where Zoey is concerned. In fact, Zoey ends up falling for one of his biggest enemies, Homeland Security honcho, Chatham Doogan!
“Oh my God. Oh my God,” Lyrica whispered, waving her hands in front of her face as she stared at him, eyes wide. “Dawg’s gonna have pups when he finds out about this.”
Zoey knows that Doogan isn’t a relationship kind of guy and that she can’t keep him, but has decided to enjoy the little time she does have with him, but she finds herself quickly getting attached.
Doogan has lusted for Zoey for six years, when he danced with her when he knew he shouldn’t. It about killed him to walk away, but he was married at the time and knew her family would kill him, if he took it any further than the dance. He filed for an annulment shortly after, but it never came to pass as his selfish wife and beautiful daughter were killed during her attempt to take his little girl from him, to no fault of his own.
Doogan knows that he must stay away from Zoey, but when someone abducts her and injects her with a psychoactive drug and convinces her that she not only was raped by her best friend but also killed him, he knows he has to help her. He sees her through it all and he is able to do what he can to make Zoey believe it was all a bad dream. A dream that still haunts her five years later!
Now Doogan is back in town and he can’t stay away from her. She’s in danger once again, and if he loses her, he won’t survive it!
Another great Nauti Girls book! This is a quick and easy read that I didn’t want to put down! The story was engaging and the relationship between Doogan and Zoey was scorching, at least between the sheets … or on top of them … It’s a wonder my kindle didn’t get singed in the process of reading this book!
I’m a sucker for the bad boy so I couldn’t help, but love Doogan, I especially loved Zoey’s family’s reaction to the relationship. Although, in the end, I thought they took it a lot better than I expected, especially Dawg!
We got a nice segue into the next book, which is bringing in some new characters to the story, and I can’t wait to see where Leigh takes us next!
