Warner Brothers has announced the cast of the Hobbit, amid confusion over where the film will be shot.

Martin Freeman, The Office star who has long been rumoured as a favourite for the top role, has been confirmed to star as Bilbo Baggins, with Sir Peter Jackson saying he was the only man for the job.

“Despite the various rumours and speculation surrounding this role, there has only ever been one Bilbo Baggins for us,” Sir Peter Jackson said.

“There are a few times in your career when you come across an actor who you know was born to play a role, but that was the case as soon as I met Martin. He is intelligent, funny, surprising and brave – exactly like Bilbo and I feel incredibly proud to be able to announce that he is our Hobbit.”

Duck and cover! Steven Spielberg officially directing Robopocalypse movie

Source: io9.com

It’s official: Steven Spielberg will direct the movie version of Robopocalypse. Expect big, wide-screen, tentpole robot-revolution action, coming sometime in 2013. And there are the first details on Daniel H. Wilson’s next book after Robopocalypse. According to Deadline, Spielberg is officially on board to direct Robopocalypse, with a script by Drew Goddard (Cloverfield, The Cabin in the Woods.) Spielberg was so excited about this project that he started the ball rolling when the novel wasn’t even finished — as Wilson was finishing book pages, Goddard was turning them into script pages and the movie was being storyboarded and designed on the go. Now the book is finished — it comes out next June — and Spielberg will start shooting in January 2012. In the meantime, Spielberg is in post-production on his Tin Tin movie, plus War Horse, both of which will be out in December 2011.
