Timur Bekmambetov To Direct ‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter,’ Probably Next

This news actually broke two days ago, but I haven’t gotten to it until now. Still, great to hear. Timur Bekmambetov, whose particular aesthetic and sense of action turned the (very loose) adaptation of Mark Millar comic “Wanted” into something special, is now committed to directing “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter,” which he is also producing with Tim Burton. Bekmambetov told Empire, “That one I’m prepping to direct myself. It is not a comedy at all – it is a very entertaining, epic history lesson for millions and millions of teenagers. If you remember ‘Nightwatch,’ it is maybe in the vein of that kind of movie.”

I’m a little concerned at the idea of “Vampire Hunter” being considered a “history lesson.” I’ve read (and loved) the book, and while it’s filled with factual information about the sixteenth U.S. president’s life, it’s also ultimately a story about him hunting vampires.

‘Drive Angry 3D’ Teaser Trailer

Last month at the 2010 San Diego Comic-Con, Nicolas Cage and Amber Heard made an appearance on a panel to promote their upcoming revenge thriller Drive Angry 3D. They brought along some footage and it appears some of that footage has found its way online in the form of a teaser trailer

Drive Angry 3D isn’t your typical revenge tale, as it brings in a supernatural element. It follows a father who’s escaped from hell (seriously!) to get revenge on the people who murdered his daughter and stole (and presumably still have) her baby. Do you really need anymore of the plot explained? I don’t – in fact the film had me with its blunt title.
