Untitled-5Montana Actually by Fiona Lowe is the first in the Medicine River romance series.  I hope it is a long-lasting series because the first book is really good.

Katrina McCade has returned to Bear Paw, Montana, after being away for about eight years.  She has returned after a break-up and has decided that she needs to stay away from men, especially doctors.  Although she is a nurse, she does not have any plans to continue that career in Bear Paw.  She just wants to renovate a place so that she has somewhere to call her own.

Josh Stanton has arrived in Bear Paw to try to help pay off his debts from medical school.  He has accepted a job as the new doctor in Bear Paw and he does not know what he has gotten himself into.  He is not used to small town living and neighbors knowing everybody’s business.  And he is definitely not prepared to meet Katrina and learn that she is his new landlord.  But he has signed on the dotted line so he has to make the best out of a bad situation.

Both Katrina and Josh do not want to get involved with anyone romantically.  They have both pretty much sworn off the opposite sex.  So it irritates them to no end when they find they are each greatly attracted to the other.  They have to fight off the attraction, no matter what.  But things do not always go as planned…..

I found this book to be funny, heartwarming and a feel-good read.  I really enjoyed the bantering and bickering that takes place between Katrina and Josh.  It is funny and seemed very realistic to me.  The writing style flows smoothly and the book is an easy read.  The author is descriptive in her writing and it is very easy to imagine the small town setting and atmosphere that you are reading about.  The characters seem very realistic to me and three dimensional.  I would love to live in Bear Paw and be able to spend time with all of them.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a heartwarming romance that is also funny.  I think this book is a great beginning for a series and I cannot wait to see what book two will bring.  I definitely want to spend time with all the characters in Bear Paw.
