LEONARD NIMOY RETIRES FROM ACTING

Leonard Nimoy has announced plans to retire from acting after 60 years in the movie business. The Star Trek icon began his acting career in the early 1950s and rose to international stardom as Mr. Spock in the sci-fi series.

But now the 79 year old, who is currently starring on TV show Fringe, has decided to give up working in front of the camera. He says, “I’ve been doing this professionally for 60 years. I love the idea of going out on a positive note. I’ve had a great, great time.”

And he’s happy to let actor Zachary Quinto, who played Spock in last year’s Star Trek prequel, continue to portray the iconic character in the sci-fi franchise: “He’s a terrific actor, he looks the part, and it’s time to give him some space.
