Gabrielle Maxwell went out to the new club with her friends to celebrate her great art showing.  But soon after arriving, Gabrielle got a bad feeling that something horrible was about to happen.  She made her excuses with her friends, but once she stepped outside of the club she happened upon a most gruesome sight.  A group of leather-clad men were attacking a guy, they killed and devoured him like a bunch of rabid animals.  Gabrielle went to the police, but they didn’t believe her.  So she was surprised and happy when Detective Lucan Thorne showed up at her house, very much interested in what happened and the pictures she took.

Things quickly heat up between Gabrielle and Lucan, only for her to learn that he isn’t a police officer at all.  She is thrown into a world she never knew existed.  One with vampires and a war that is brewing.  And stranger yet, she learns she’s a Breedmate, one of a select few humans that can bond with the vampires and bear their children.  Soon she realizes that she wants to bond with Lucan, but he keeps pushing her away until she can’t take it any longer.  But her careless actions put her in danger, right when Lucan realizes how important she is to him.  Will he be able to get to her in time or lose part of his heart instead?

I have vampire loving friends that have been recommending this series to me for years!  So I finally delved into this book, expecting a fun and sexy book that rivaled the Black Dadder Brotherhood series and that I wouldn’t want to put it down.  Boy was I ever disappointed!  I found this book to be incredibly boring!!  It follows the typical romance formula: girl falls in love with boy, boy is a jerk and pushes girl away, girl is fed up and leaves only to put herself in danger, boy saves the day and they live happily ever after.  Gag me please!  I wanted to like this book, but I just didn’t.  I’m not too optimistic I can read any further into this series either.
