Summary:

The forbidden fruit has never tasted so good…or so bitter.
I’m Eva Marone, and my father says I’m going to hell.
After Adrian Saylor dumps me at the altar, I ditch my pastor’s daughter image and become a sinner.

Sin number one – I quit my job as the church receptionist and move to LA to work as a cocktail waitress, at the Little Black Dress.

Sin number two – I lose my virginity during a one-night-stand to a hot stranger whose name I don’t even know… inside an elevator.

The morning after, I find my sinful moment splashed across the pages of a tabloid magazine, my dirty little secret on display for all the world to see.

As it turns out, my one nightstand is Neal LaClaire. He’s not only one of the most eligible bachelors, he comes from one of the wealthiest families in the world.

Being in the spotlight—in a negative way—has never been in my plans, but how can I clean up my image when the press refuses to back off? Every time my face appears in the paper, the stain on my reputation darkens. Until Neal makes me an offer I can’t refuse.

Review:

Well, well, well…. I am not surprised I liked His Champagne so much…., after all, Dori Lavelle is a favourite author of mine. She never fails to deliver an enjoyable, enticing, gripping, can’t put it down story.

We begin the book with a recipe – one that I can get totally behind and I believe this definitely sets the tone for the book:

Naughty Champagne Recipe

        1 bottle of Dom Pérignon

        2 crystal champagne flutes

        1 hunky dude

Instructions

        Pop the champagne cork

Accidentally spill some on hunky dude

Get naked and offer to lick the spilled champagne from his bare skin

Right from the get go, I was hooked. My heart strings were pulled when Eva was left at the alter by Adrian. Bugger is all I have to say!!!  What is a girl supposed to do when they get left at the alter, have a controlling father (and a parish priest to boot) and little life experience?  Go to Vegas of course.

Neal is a distraught man… having a difficult time getting over the loss of his wife and unborn child. Once a year Neal and his four siblings meet in their Cabo San Lucas family villa. But Neal is not handling things well so he jets off to … you guessed in… Vegas.  One particular quote really hit the ole heart strings:

I hate that everything has changed. And I hate myself for not being able to suck it up, to move on. I’m not the first man to lose his family to death. I won’t be the last. People make it through this hell, they rebuild new lives despite the loss. But I’m incapable of doing that. I’m broken beyond repair.”

I loved the tour in Vienna: Upper Belvedere Gallery-admiring Gustav Klimt’s famous painting-The Kiss, the Butterfly House known as the Imperial Schmetterlinghaus, part of the Hofburg Royal Place, the riverside promenade, Donauinsel … I can see this city should be on my bucket list of places to visit.

The growth of the relationship was quick, steamy and … okay… I am speechless.

Needless to say, I have thoroughly enjoyed this quick read. I am never disappointed by the writing of Dori Lavelle. Whether it steamy, romantic or down right dark…. she spins a good tale.

If the other “THE COCKTAIL GIRLS” stories are half as good as Ms. Lavelle’s – I am really going to enjoy them.
