A couple of such details were revealed in Weitz’s interview with Time.
According to the interview, Twilight series author Stephenie Meyer will not be making a cameo in New Moon, and the reason, he says, was a simple oversight.
But now I feel bad about it — as though I intended not to. But I had kind of forgotten that she had a cameo in the first one, and she never asked, she’s very quiet and gracious about it. I don’t know if she wanted to or not. I probably should have.

I liked Stephenie Meyer’s cameo in the Twilight movie. I thought it was cute and clever. I’m kind of disappointed that she won’t be in the New Moon movie at all.
