IN THE ARMS OF DANGER

IN THE HEAT OF DESIRE

Cocky. Clever. Courageously independent. Alf has survived on the perilous streets of St. Giles by disguising her sex. By day she is a boy, dealing in information and secrets. By night she’s the notorious Ghost of St. Giles, a masked vigilante. But as she saves Hugh from assassins, she finds herself succumbing to temptation . . .

ONE KISS WILL CHANGE THEIR LIVES FOREVER

When Hugh hires Alf to investigate the Lords of Chaos, her worlds collide. Once Hugh realizes that the boy and the Ghost are the same, will Alf find the courage to become the woman she needs to be-before the Lords of Chaos destroy them both?

Review:

Elizabeth Hoyt has to be one of the best historical romance writers. Not only does she give the reader a steamy romance but she incorporates a riveting story to go along with it.

Alf has never been allowed to be a girl since she was 5. Surviving the worst area of London meant she has lived her life disguised as a boy giving information to those who will pay for it during the day and lately she has learned to fight and to scale the rooftops as the Ghost of St Giles (a masked vigilante).

Hugh Fitzroy works for the King and is  set to defeat the Lords of Chaos. Hiring the best informant in Alf is a start. When he meets the Ghost of St Giles as he is ambushed in a London alley he knows immediately from her body that she is a woman. It takes a while for him to connect Alf and the Ghost as one and the same. Hugh also is a single father of two boys, both who have been traumatized by their mother’s death.  Having been away a lot of his married life not wanting to deal with his wife’s affairs he finds it hard to have a relationship with the two boys. One resents him for not being there and the other is still having nightmares at losing his mother. Alf develops a relationship with the boys and Hugh finds that he is more and more dependent on the steadiness Alf brings to the home.

When one of the boys is kidnapped Hugh and Alf must work together to get him back alive and to finally dissolve the Lords of Chaos. The transformation of Alf into a woman is well written and believable.

Again this is  a fast moving and delightful story , I know I am always on the lookout for other Elizabeth Hoyt’s books.
