The next three days, after the funeral, Sookie spent most of her time cleaning out Gran’s room with Arlene’s help. Sookie didn’t want Gran’s clothes, but her jewelry was dear to Sookie’s heart and as Arlene backed the boxes she asked about Adele’s car. As she looked at the now clean room, Sookie thought about moving into Gran’s room permanently. As they packed Arlene’s car, she had offered to take the boxes to the collection center, Sookie hugged and kissed her goodbye.
Sookie: A moment later he found out the true extent of my inexperience. (Page 144)
Bill: “You can get more skilled, Sookie, but you can’t get any better.” He kisses me on the cheek. “You’re wonderful.” (Page 145)
Arlene: “Honey, couldn’t you just date a regular human fella?” Arlene asked when she got her voice back.
Sookie: “A regular human fella didn’t ask me out.” (Page 148)
Lafayette: “I thought you were going to say you were dating a black, but you’ve gone one better, ain’t you, girl?” Lafayette said, picking at his fingernail polish. (Page 149)
Arlene: Arlene got through it first. “All right, then. He better treat you good, or we’ll get our stakes out!” (Page 149)
