DAWN’S JULY READING LOUNGE: WHAT SHE’S READING NOW

Sanctuary by Jenny Carroll (also called 1-800-where-are-you)

Jessica Mastriani gets struck by lightning and ends up with psychic abilities. She genuinely tries to use it for good but of course the government gets involved.

I love Jess, she is such a spitfire. The series is fun, all quick reads, but plenty of plot twists.

The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan

I’ve been hearing about this book for a while. I gave in and read it. I finished the book within one sitting. I give credit where it’s due. I realize it held my interest and zombies usually don’t.

That said, I didn’t like it that much. The suspense was off the charts but I can only give it 2.5 stars out of 5.

Maximum Ride by James Patterson

A group of “kids” ,who have been experimented on, escape and begin a journey to find out who they are and why they were created.

I’m currently waiting on book 5 in the series. I have torn through them. I found the story to be unique and engaging. I’ve grown attached to the characters. It’s a good series.

4 out of 5 stars.

The Mediator by Meg Cabot

Suze is a mediator. She can see and speak to the dead. She helps them with unresolved issues.

I just finished this series. I liked each book, the storyline kept getting better. I love that the author didn’t over do, she ended the series at the perfect time. The author didn’t over do the high school angst either.
