Welcome to the Top 5/10
In honor of our Lovely Bones book club, we give you the Top 5/10 Ghost Edition!
Top 5/10 Ghost Costumes by Dawn
1. The image says it all. It’s very detailed and would scare the shit out of me. I would think I was dreaming.
2. He reminds me of the Grim Reaper.
3. This ghost costume actually reminds me of an angel.
4. Some serious freaky, especially because his face and hands glow. Do ghosts’ faces and hands glow?
5. Fun ghost costume that looks like a woman from the 1800’s. I would wear this out for Halloween, if I wasn’t too old. (lol)
Extra: Way too cute. Live vicariously through your child, I’m betting he/she would gets lots of candy.
Top 5 Haunted Places in the US – Dawn

1. Alcatraz - You can visit the jail and go into one of the cells, though I don’t suggest closing or locking yourself in, unless you wear brown pants to hide the fact that you’ve shit yourself.
2. Bird Cage Theatre in Tombstone, Arizona – Dating back to the 1880’s its no surprise that it’s on the list, a lot of gunslingers lived in Tombstone and many infamous men were killed there.
3. Civil War Battlegrounds -Places such as the Gettysburg Battlefield where people often see soldiers walking around. A lot of men died in battle. Cries of pain and battle cries have been heard. I was born near Valley Forge National Park and wandering around there, day or night, you get a sense of how many men died. It’s very eerie and I can easily imagine it being haunted.
4. Lizzie Borden House in Fall River, Massachusetts- Another one that is not surprising, but who really killed the Borden family? It’s a bed and breakfast now – spend the night and see what happens.
5. Union Cemetery in Easton, Connecticut – (said also to be seen in Bridgeport, Connecticut), Dating back to the 1600s, this place is touted as one of the most haunted cemeteries not only in Connecticut, but in the entire country. The most well-known haunt is a spirit known as “The White Lady”. The identity of the spirit is not known, but sightings of her didn’t occur until the late 1940s; meaning she must have died sometime before then. People have photographed and even videotaped her. Not only have people seen her with their own eyes, but some passers-by’s have even “hit” her with their cars as they drove past the cemetery.
Those costumes are seriously creepy! What do you think of them? What did you think of the most haunted places? Have you ever visited any of them?

OBS TOP 5/10: ALICE IN WONDERLAND EDITION
Author: krystal109 | Filed under: News Blog, Top 5/10Top 5 Coolest Creatures in Wonderland – Karolina
1. The Chesire Cat – The character who points out the madness that is Wonderland to Alice. He is cryptic and mischievous and flummoxes Alice as much as the other characters, but is also her biggest ally.
2. The White Rabbit – The character who leads Alice on her journey into Wonderland. He is manic, timid and aggressive, and without him, there would be no story to tell.
3. The Caterpillar – The Caterpillar sits on a mushroom, smokes a hookah, and treats Alice with contempt. He also has an awesome mushroom that allows Alice to shrink and grow.
4. The March Hare – Kudos to a character who manages to put up with the Hatter, and manages to vex Alice as much as he does.
5. The Dormouse – The sleepy dormouse naps through the March Hare and the Hatter’s game, imperturbable. You have to love a character whose main priority is sleep!
Top 5 Alice Adaptations – Caro
1. 1951 Alice in Wonderland – This Disney version could be the most remembered adaptation of all, but even though it’s a Disney movie I still see in it dark side.
2. 1980 The Muppets Show – Alice in Wonderland episode 506. For all the fans of both this was an episode that had to be seen. Who wouldn’t want to hear Miss Peggy yell “Of with his head”? Or see gonzo as the Mad Hatter?
3. 1999 Alice in Wonderland – This TV movie is my favorite so far. It had scenes that the Disney version didn’t and the actors where great. Not to mention Miranda Richardson as the Red Queen.
4. 2009 “Alice” – SyFy’s TV mini-series is rather and combines the best of Alice and sci-fi, adds a twist to the story, keeps the blue dress and shows you that even Alice can be a tough girl.
5. 2010 Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland – What else could we have wanted for Tim Burton to do an adaptation of? And it has Johnny Depp! And my favorite voice, Alan Rickman. What else do you want?
Top 5 Alice’s Through the Years – Caro
1. Alice from the book Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Caroll, 1865 – Our first vision of what Alice could look like, becoming an icon and reference for future Alice’s.
2. Alice from the Disney version in 1951, voice by Kathryn Beaumont – One of the favorites of all times, that instantly comes to mind when you mention the name.
3. Alice played by Tina Marjorino in the TV movie from 1999 – I think she did a great job as Alice, kept that personality that describes her.
4. Alice played by Caterina Scorsone from the SyFy mini-series ‘Alice’, 2009 – This an older version of our typical Alice and I like the way she is because it shows us that she won’t always be a 10 year old and eventually has to find her love.
5. Alice played by Mia Wasikowska in Tim Burton’s 2010 movie – One that we’re waiting anxiously to see how she portrays our beloved Alice and handles the life of the Underworld.
Top 5 Alice Jewelry – Katie

I love that this bracelet has all of the characters included on it and the fact that it’s pretty simple.

Who doesn’t know who the Cheshire Cat is? His smile is almost iconic. I know I would love to own this necklace!

The stickers used to make this necklace are super cute! They even added a watch for the white rabbit. I like how they gave it a classy edge with the beads for a chain.

I really like how this necklace could be worn with a lot of things. It doesn’t just have to be about Alice in Wonderland. But true fans will know what its about.

I’m really starting to find steampunk interesting. And this is a perfect piece to represent it. Using a clock works really well with having the gears on top.
Have you read the original Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll?
Are you going to see the new Tim Burton one?
Isn’t that jewelry pretty? I really want that card painter one.

OBS TOP 5/10: GREEK MYTH EDITION
Author: krystal109 | Filed under: News Blog, OBS Fun, OBS Speaks Out, Top 5/10
Top 10 Greek Gods – Krystal
1. Kronos – Leader and the youngest of the first generation of Titans, divine descendants of Gaia, the earth, and Uranus, the sky.
(The Titan’s may have lost to gods, but they were there first.)
2. Zeus – The king of the gods, the ruler of Mount Olympus and the god of the sky and thunder. His symbols are the thunderbolt, eagle, bull, and oak.
(King of the gods indeed, only his father held him back for a short while.)
3. Ares – God of war, murder and bloodshed. Brother to Athena, and is the son of Zeus. Has an affair with Aphrodite. His symbols are vultures, dogs, boars, and a spear.
(The God of WAR gets a special place in my heart because without him the Greek myth world sure would be boring.)
4. Dionysus – God of wine, parties/festivals, madness and merriment. He represents not only the intoxicating power of wine, but also its social and beneficial influences. His symbols are the grape vine, ivy, and thyrsus.
(Now this boy knows how to party.)
5. Hades – God of the underworld and wealth. Brother of Poseidon, Zeus and Hera, and consort to Persephone. His symbols are the bident, the Helm of Darkness, and the three-headed dog, Cerberus.
(Nothing like a guy who rules over your death. Be nice and don’t get on his bad side.)
6. Apollo – God of music, medicine, health, prophecies, poetry, and archery. Also said to be the god of light and truth. Is associated with the sun. Also referred to as the most handsome of the gods. He is Artemis’s twin brother, and son of Zeus. His symbols are the bow, lyre, and laurel.
(The shining light over your day, Apollo is worthy of praise unless you like storms.)
7. Poseidon – God of the sea. He created horses from sea foam. God of earthquakes as well. Also called ‘Earth Shaker’ and ‘Storm Bringer’. His symbols are horses, sea foam, dolphins, and a trident.
(Speaking of storms… Poseidon will mess you up. Especially me, since I live in California)
8. Eros – The primordial god of sexual love and beauty. He was also worshipped as a fertility deity.
(Babies anyone?)
9. Hephaestus – God of fire and the forge (god of fire and smiths) with very weak legs. He was thrown off Mount Olympus as a baby by his mother and in some stories his father. He makes armor for the gods and other heroes like Achilles. Son of Hera and Zeus is his father in some accounts. Married to Aphrodite, but she does not love him because he is deformed and, as a result, is cheating on him with Ares. He had a daughter named Pandora. His symbols are an axe, a hammer and a flame.
(This dude is married to the Goddess of LOVE… give the boy some credit.)
10. Hermes – God of flight, thieves, mischief, commerce, and travelers. Messenger of the gods. He showed the way for the dead souls to Hades’s realm. He shows up in more myths than any other god or goddess. Likes to trick people and is very inventive. Hermes invented the lyre using a turtle shell and sinew. His symbols are the caduceus and winged boots.
(This dude is just awesome because of his shoes.)
Top 10 Greek Goddesses – Krystal
1. Gaia – Primal Greek goddess personifying the Earth, the Greek version of “Mother Nature”.
(Of course she is number 1.)
2. Rhea – Titaness daughter of Uranus, the sky, and Gaia, the earth, in classical Greek mythology. She was known as “the mother of gods.”
(This woman betrayed her husband to save her kids from his belly. You go girl.)
3. Aphrodite – Goddess of love, lust, beauty, wife of Hephaestus. Ares is her lover. Eros is her son. Known as the most beautiful of the Greek goddesses. Her symbols are the scepter, myrtle, and dove.
(This woman can really mess with your life if you piss her off, but she can also bestow on you great love and happiness.)
4. Artemis – Goddess of the hunt, wild things, and the moon. Protector of the young. She became associated with the moon. Apollo is her twin brother. Artemis is a virgin goddess. Her symbols are the bow, dogs, and deer.
(I love Artemis, everything about her is good and virginal. She is the lover of nature, which I love too.)
5. Athena – Goddess of wisdom, warfare, strategy, handicrafts and reason. Sister of Ares, and is the daughter of Zeus. Sprung from Zeus’s head in full body armor. She is the wisest of the gods. Her symbols are the aegis, owl, and olive tree.
(You have to be a strong woman to be related to Ares. She is definitely on par with him as for strength.)
6. Demeter – Goddess of fertility, agriculture, grain and harvest. Demeter is a daughter of Cronus and Rhea and sister of Zeus. Her symbols are the scepter, torch, and corn.
(This is the mother who stopped the season in their midst for love and concern of her daughter Persephone. Don’t mess with her or you could starve.)
7. Persephone – Queen of the Underworld and the parthenogenic daughter of Demeter.
(In some ways I dislike her for being tricked to be with Hades, but she also can stand him which gives her a lot of credit.)
8. Hera – Goddess of marriage, women, and childbirth. Zeus’ wife and sister. Appears with peacock feathers often. Her symbols are the scepter, diadem, and peacock.
(She may be the wife of Zeus, but I still hate the jealous b****.)
9. Hestia – Goddess of the hearth and home, the focal point of every household. Daughter of Rhea and Cronus. Gave up her seat as one of the Twelve Olympians to tend to the sacred flame on Mount Olympus for Dionysus. Her symbol is the hearth.
(What can I say, she is a goddess of the caring and compassionate kind.)
10. Nyx – Primordial goddess of the night. A shadowy figure, Nyx stood at or near the beginning of creation, and was the mother of personified gods such as Hypnos (sleep) and Thánatos (death).
(I love the night… so she makes my list.)
