TWILIGHT SAGA NEWS FOR MARCH 16TH
Author: ifellhard | Filed under: Events/Appearances News, Graphic Novel News, Interviews, Movie News, News Blog“NEW MOON” DVD SPECIAL FEATURES FROM ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT
Entertainment Tonight recently aired and posted over six minutes of behind-the-scenes footage that will be featured on the “New Moon” DVD that hits stores on Saturday, March 20. The clip includes filming of the confrontation in the rain between Bella and Jacob, the breakup scene in the woods (complete with there challenges with mosquitoes and airplanes), the scene between them right before Bella goes to Italy to save Edward, and more.
KRISTEN STEWART TO APPEAR ON JIMMY FALLON TONIGHT
Tune in to Jimmy Fallon tonight to see Kristen Stewart on the show to promote her upcoming film, “The Runaways”. Her co-star, Robert Pattinson, appeared on the show a couple of weeks ago to promote “Remember Me” and took part in one of Fallon’s “Robert Is Bothered” sketches. It will be interesting to see if Fallon has Kristen take part in anything other than the standard interview. Honestly, I would love for him to do another “Robert Is Bothered” sketch with Kristen playing the part of Bella in it.
EW REPORTS THAT SUMMIT IS LOOKING AT OSCAR-WINNING DIRECTORS FOR “BREAKING DAWN”
Summit is trying to up its pedigree for its big-screen adaptation of the final installment of Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight series. Sources tell EW that the studio has reached out to at least three top-notch directors, including Sofia Coppola (Lost in Translation), Gus Van Sant (Milk), and Bill Condon (Dreamgirls) to gauge their interest in what is likely to be two movies. (Van Sant’s reps confirmed that he’s been approached, but Coppola and Condon’s people didn’t return phone calls by press time. Summit declined to comment.)
No decisions are likely to be made until the studio delivers screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg’s detailed outline to the directors. That should happen sometime next week.
EW also has a poll where fans can vote between the three directors to express their preference (not that it really has any bearing on the outcome, but it’s interesting nonetheless). Click here for the poll.
TWILIGHT: THE GRAPHIC NOVEL RELEASED
from heraldsun.com.au:
Twilight fans now have an addition for their collection, with the first volume in the graphic novel adaptation of Stephanie Meyer’s books hitting Australian stores today.
The hardback graphic novel, with selected text from Twilight, will be published in two volumes in order to span the length of the original book, with a release date for the second volume still to be announced.
Meyer has played a key role in the production of the graphic novel, consulting with Korean artist Young Kim on every panel.
The result is a beautiful rendition of one of the most successful publishing phenomenons in the world, with Kim’s black and white artwork highlighted by the strategic use of colour panels throughout the book in what the publishers describe as “a rare fusion of Asian and Western comic techniques”.
“NEW MOON” TO RECEIVE FAN CHOICE AWARD AT SHOWEST
from mtv.com:
“The Twilight Saga: New Moon” has been selected for the ShoWest/Fandango Fan Choice Award, which will be presented Thursday at ShoWest’s Final Night Banquet and Award Ceremony at Bally’s and Paris Las Vegas. The Fan Choice Award was voted on by nearly 50,000 moviegoers, who were asked on Fandango to select their favorite film of 2009.
ShoWest, the largest annual convention for the motion-picture industry, is currently under way in Las Vegas. This year’s installment will once again end with the celebrated Banquet and Award Ceremony, where awards will also be presented to Vanessa Hudgens, Zach Galifianakis, Amanda Seyfried, Sam Worthington and Jerry Bruckheimer. Rumor has it that a producer from the “Twilight” series will accept the award, and a special video message from one of the franchise’s top stars will be played for those in attendance.
ALEX MERAZ AND A ROBERT PATTINSON BLOW-UP DOLL
Just when you think that the Twilight merchandise can’t get any more weird or tacky, someone inevitably proves you wrong. MTV.com recently posted a photo taken and Twittered by Alex Meraz at a TwiCon over the weekend of a Robert Pattinson blow-up doll. Take a look and see what you think…disturbing or not?
Seeing these little clips of footage from the DVD is making me all the more ready to get my greedy little hands on a copy of it so that I can see all of the extras. I am especially looking forward to the deleted and extended scenes to see what didn’t make it into the film, but it’s very interesting to see what went into the making of the film.
As I mentioned above, I really hope that Kristen does something extra on Jimmy Fallon tonight. She was mighty impressive during her visit to promote “New Moon” when she broke the plates by throwing a football at them. I’m looking forward to tonight’s episode.
Will you vote in the EW poll for the “Breaking Dawn” director prospects? Who is your choice among the three?
Are you going to pick up a copy of the graphic novel? It looks really cool. I may have to go get a copy for myself and my ever-growing Twilight collection.
The Robert/Edward blow-up doll made me laugh out loud when I saw that and I just had to share it with you. I’m not scared to go on record as saying that I find it to be on the weird side of things. What do you think?

HOW ZOMBIELAND 2 TAKES 3-D LESSONS FORM AVATAR

Director Ruben Fleischer said that he’s creating the sequel to his hit horror comedy Zombieland for 3-D as a way to heighten the undead-infested world of the original and added that he even took some lessons from the creators of Avatar.
We’re writing it with 3-D in mind,” Fleischer said Saturday at a panel for the South by Southwest film festival in Austin, Texas. “I took the writers to the 3-D workshop. We’re really going to try and make it something that’s intentional, as opposed to some of the movies where it’s just another component to market or a way to make more money at the box office. For us, we really want to make it something that just elevates the entertainment value of the film.”

THOMAS EDISON’S 1910 FRANKENSTEIN MOVIE COMING TO DVD

This Thursday marks the 100th anniversary of Thomas Edison’s ground-breakingFrankenstein movie, and it’s finally coming out on DVD in a restored print. Frankenstein’s actors were paid $5 a day and hid the fact that they were slumming in movies.
The restored DVD print of the first ever Frankenstein movie is the work of Frederick C. Wiebel, Jr., who’s also written a book about the making of that film and other early films from 100 years ago.

STEVEN SPIELBERG MAY FILM THE ‘ROBOPOCALYPSE’
Speculation continues on what will become Steven Spielberg’s next trip behind the camera. The great director failed at bringing Abraham Lincoln to the screen and a remake of Harvey, and seems to only be playing an executive producer role on Matt Helm and biopics of Martin Luther King Jr. and George Gershwin.
Deadline suggests Spielberg’s first film under the new DreamWorks/Reliance partnership could beRobopocalypse, a big-budget movie about the human race’s attempt to survive a robot uprising.

CREATOR ROBERT CHAPIN IS ONE THE THE ‘HUNTED’

The Hunted is the little Web series that could, and can, and does. Robert Chapin’s Internet brain child, born over ten years ago, has been running episodes, still on thehunted.tv and now also on YouTube, of a series about people who have been bitten by vampires, but not yet turned who are trying to prove the existence of the blood-suckers. They are armed with video cameras (to do the documentation) and swords (to fend off the vamps).

“NEW MOON” DVD CLIPS INCLUDE NEVER-SEEN-BEFORE FOOTAGE
MTV.com recently posted a video with three clips of never-seen-before footage about the filming of “New Moon”. The first clip discusses some of the changes between the first and second films including Bella’s look and Charlie’s house. The second clip features Taylor Lautner, Kristen Stewart, and Chris Weitz talking about how Jacob puts Bella back together and the dynamic of their relationship. The third clip is a behind-the-scenes featurette of the scene in which Jacob first phases on screen with Taylor Lautner doing his own stunt with the wires and harness.
TAYLOR LAUTNER EMBARRASSED BY FANS’ AB-SESSION
from showbizspy.com:

Courtesy of David Strick/Los Angeles Times
Taylor Lautner says it’s “kind of embarrassing” that people make such a fuss about his body.
The 18-year-old actor — who goes shirtless in several scenes in the Twilight movies — will be bare-chested in his new action flick, Abduction.
In the script, obtained by America’s Life & Style magazine, Taylor’s character, Nathan, undresses so his love interest, Karen, can remove shards of glass from his skin after he’s wounded in an explosion.
“It’s weird,” Taylor has said of all the adulation. “It’s kind of embarrassing.”
JACKSON RATHBONE TO PLAY MAN WITH CEREBRAL PALSY IN “TRUCKSTOP”
from cinematical.com:
Once again, you’ve got to hand it to most of the Twilight stars. Taylor Lautner might be doing everything he can to become the next Tom Cruise (without the couch hopping, we hope), but the rest are filling their non-Twilight time with a whole range of indie projects — and Jackson Rathbone’s is surely the most challenging to date. Variety reports that he will star in an indie drama called Truckstop with Jennifer Lawrence.
Written by Tony Aloupis (with revisions by Steve Grabowsky and director Rotimi Rainwater), the indie focuses on a man with cerebral palsy who works at a truck stop while caring for his dying father. There, he befriends “a troubled young prostitute,” because in the land of movies, almost any woman, especially one at a truck stop, has to be a prostitute.
UK TWILIGHT FANS: WIN A LIFE-SIZE TWILIGHT CAST MEMBER

Attention, Twilight fans in the UK!! The contest is only open to residents of the UK and you can see all the rules and enter here.
So, do you have any plans to try to audition for “Breaking Dawn”? I know that we have a lot of actors and actresses who follow our blog. Let us know if you plan to audition. We’d love to hear about your experience!
The behind-the-scenes footage from “New Moon” is so cool! I cannot wait to get my DVD this weekend so that I can watch all of it. I hadn’t realized that Bella didn’t have a bay window in the first film.
As for Taylor Lautner being embarrassed by all of the attention directed toward his naked torso, I can’t say that I blame him. He was only 17 years old when they shot the movie and it hit theaters. I would probably have been more than a bit creeped out by a bunch of 30+ year-old people freaking out out over a part of my body when I was that age.
Jackson Rathbone’s next project sound interesting…definitely has an indie feel to it from the description. We’ll have to keep a look out for more about that project and we’ll keep you posted.

Exclusive: Kristen Stewart Reacts To The ‘Eclipse’ Trailer
Earlier today, Cinematical sat down with Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning to talk about their new movie The Runaways, in which the actresses play Cherie Currie and Joan Jett, two of the founding members of the eponymous all-girl rock band. (Look for a full-length, exclusive interview with the duo in the weeks to come.) Following our discussion of the ins and outs of playing real-life rock stars, talk turned to the new 90-second trailer for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, which debuted online this morning.
When I asked if either of them got to see the trailer, Stewart and Fanning turned to one another for reactions. “Did you watch it?” Stewart asked Fanning.
“No, I didn’t,” Fanning replied. “I watched it,” Stewart said with enthusiasm. When I prodded her for specific feelings, she said, “Well, it’s really fast, isn’t it? It’s sort of like a couple of pictures strung together. But it looks good – it looks good! I think Taylor [Lautner] looks really great. Like, he looks very strong and I love his voice in it,” she said. “He’s good in it.”
The Twilight Saga: Eclipse official website launched with interactive Twitter feed
As fans wait patiently for the movie to release on June 30, 2010, they can bide their time by visiting the official website for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.

The website features an interactive Twitter feed on the official The Twilight Saga: Eclipse movie website’s main page. The 90 second trailer is also featured.
I love that Taylor showed up to support Kristen. He’s such a gentleman. Wouldn’t you agree?

www.werewolves.com has gathered a good list of werewolf movies that would keep you up all night this weekend
Where would our favorite werewolf movies be today if they didn’t have groundbreaking movies to pave the way? And while the newer movies are filled with great special effects, Dolby surround sound, and makeup techniques and tools that truly transform man to beast, we simply wouldn’t be where we are today if it weren’t for these vintage films. And every now and then, we like to tip our hats to the movies that made it possible for all the great wolf movies that we enjoy today! Pick one of these up this weekend (or all of them) and take yourself back to a time when werewolves were just a tiny bit simpler, but still oh-so-awesome!
An American Werewolf in London was the first werewolf movie to be released by Universal Studios. And while it may not have been as successful as The Wolf Man, it was successful enough to also have a remake of it done. Check out this pseudo-trailer that some clever little devil put together for the original film. The original trailer is simply a reflection of a full moon in a body of water. This one’s much better, I must say!
