KRISTEN STEWART ON JAY LENO

Kristen Stewart appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno last night as a part of the promotional tour for the upcoming film, “The Runaways”.  She talked with him about the BAFTAs, her first big role in “Panic Room”, her presentation at the Oscars (including the cough incident), portraying Joan Jett and hanging out with the rock and roll legend.  Be sure to watch for the clip from the film in the second video where Kristen is singing!

COMCAST “NEW MOON” EXCLUSIVE FOOTAGE WITH CHRIS WEITZ COMMENTARY

Comcast will have exclusive footage, including directory commentary.  Here you can see the clip of Bella and Jacob’s confrontation in the rain.  Director Chris Weitz discusses some of the challenges in the making of this scene, including the contacts worn by Kristen Stewart and the temperature of the water for the rain.  Weitz notes that the water is so cold that you can see steam rising from Taylor Lautner’s body.

THE LATEST ON “BREAKING DAWN”

from 24-7 press release:

According to an inside source, the fourth saga and the most highly anticipated film in the Twilight Series, will be split into two movies, and filmed in 3D. “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part I”, and “Part II” has not been confirmed “officially” by Summit Entertainment, however author Stephenie Meyer has stated, “it would have to be made into multiple movies because it is hard to imagine it fitting into ninety minutes.”

In addition, a new production company, Sunswept Entertainment, has been brought on board for Breaking Dawn. Sunswept Entertainment was created by Karen Rosenfelt, who is the daughter of former MGM Chairman & CEO Frank Edward Rosenfelt. Karen Rosenfelt served as Producer on both “Twilight” and on “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse”. She did not work on “New Moon”, but is producing “Breaking Dawn” through her Sunswept Entertainment banner.

Fans can expect a massive talent search for the role of Renesmee Cullen, the half-vampire, half-human daughter of Edward Cullen and Bella Swan, just as there was for the roles of Seth and Leah Clearwater in “Eclipse”. Due to the introduction of this character, Breaking Dawn is going to be the most CG-intense film of the Twilight series.

PETER FACINELLI NOT PLAYING VAMPIRE BASEBALL

from zap2it.com:

While “Twilight’s” Peter Facinelli is out, Nelsan Ellis, who plays the fabulous fry cook, Lafayette, on “True Blood,” has joined the charity Vampire Baseball game in New Orleans on Saturday, March 20.

He’ll team up with other Hollywood names and members from the New Orleans Saints to take on some of the “Twilight” cast.

Facinelli, who plays father figure Carlisle Cullen, was originally signed on, but he’s no longer on the roster.

FIRST “ECLIPSE” TRAILER IS RELEASED

In case you just returned from another planet or have been under a rock and aren’t aware, the first 90-second trailer for “Eclipse” was released earlier today.  It features the voice-over of part of Edward’s proposal to Bella and is very much centered around the Edward-Bella-Jacob storyline and the choice that she has to make.  There’s a little bit of the danger thrown in with a shot of Victoria and we also get a shot of Bella with Renee in Jacksonville.  Click here for the video posted earlier today.

IMHO, Kristen seemed much more relaxed in this interview than she’s been in others.  I love how she put things in perspective about her clearing her throat at the Oscars.  Seeing how she’s known to be as clumsy as her character (e.g., dropping an award at the MTV Movie Awards last summer), she had a valid point if that’s the worst thing that happened all night.  Seeing the clip of her singing along with the clips that I’ve seen of Dakota singing makes me really ready to see “The Runaways”.  The fact that Joan Jett and Cherie Currie thought that the girls’ voices were good enough to tell their story speaks volumes because it would have been much easier for Kristen and Dakota to lip sync.

I am honestly tired of all the speculation about “Breaking Dawn”.  I’m ready for Summit to make an announcement one way or the other (and we all know that it will probably back up the rumors of two films anyway).  Let’s just get the show on the road!

ROBERT PATTINSON SAYS HE’D LOVE TO SHAVE HIS HEAD FOR A ROLE

Continuing the press tour for his upcoming film, “Remember Me”, Robert Pattinson sat down for an interview with the Maggie Rodriguez from “The Early Show” on CBS.   Rodriguez asked Rob if he would ever consider shaving his head for a role.  Rob laughed and nodded, saying that he would love to.  He then went on to comment on his hair, saying, “”I was so frustrated, the last few days promoting this, because I really need a haircut and I can’t get one because I’m working!”  He also compared his hair to the wig that Jimmy Fallon wears in the “Robert Is Bothered” sketches, claiming that Fallon’s wig is “less wig-like than my own hair.”

CATALINA SANDINO MORENO TALKS “ECLIPSE”: ‘I WOULD RATHER BE AN EVIL VAMPIRE’

from examiner.com:

Examiner.com got to to chat with Academy Award Nominee Catalina Sandino Moreno at The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Official New York Oscar Night celebration. The star-studded cocktail reception took place at GILT Restaurant at the New York Palace Hotel. Catalina plays Maria in “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse,” which will be in theaters on June 30th, 2010.

Q: I wouldn’t be a good reporter unless I asked about your huge role in Eclipse.

Catalina: It’s not huge though, It’s very very little, very very very small, but it’s a huge movie, and it’s fun and it was great, and the people that I met they were lovely. I didn’t meet everybody, but the people that I met they were just fantastic, so I’m very exicted to be apart of that. It’s huge.

Q: In the books, Maria is very prominent. She’s the evil vampire.

Catalina: I know. I love that she was evil, I love that she had to do something evil. You know If I was going to be a vampire, I would rather be an evil vampire that does crazy stuff than a nice vampire. So yeah, she was so much fun though, she was great.

Q: Were you a fan of the books before you were cast?

Catalina: No, I saw the movies. I was a fan of the films. Chris Weitz is amazing and I loved the first and second “Twilight,” so hopefully this one will be amazing too. It’s going to be great. So I’m really excited they are releasing it very soon. I know it’s crazy they move so fast.

For more information on the movies available on DIRECTV Cinema please visit directv.com/cinema.

OK…I’ll have to admit that I would probably cry like a baby if Robert Pattinson shaved his head.  I love his crazy hair.  The buzz cut that he got between “Twilight” and “New Moon” wasn’t too bad, but I love the unruly hair that he has.

I’m thinking that I’ll break my Jay Leno boycott (I’m totally Team Conan) to catch Kristen’s appearance.  If for nothing else, I like to see how she’s growing into her fame and how she incrementally improves her composure with each interview.

The interview with Catalina Sandino Moreno just makes me more and more ready to see “Eclipse” and I’m really looking forward to the trailer dropping this weekend.  Knowing that she’s a part of Jasper’s back story really gets me psyched because I am looking forward to his and Rosalie’s stories being told in the movie.

Do you have DIRECTV? Will you be getting the movie from their on-demand feature this weekend?

Twilight Takes Over Oscars! Kinda!

What’s an awards show these days without some teen vampires and werewolves? Nothing! So that’s why at this year’s Academy Awards, they snuck some in. The Twilight Saga: New Moon had, let’s see, zero Oscar nominations, but somehow here’s Anna Kendrick, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner attending the ritziest party of the year.

So Kendrick didn’t technically sneak in. She totally earned it, being nominated for Best Supporting Actress for Up In The Air and also presenting an award (lucky!) with Zac Efron.

But Taylor and Kristen dodged bodyguards and hid behind props to get into this thing. OK, not exactly—but did the Academy cook up a tribute to horror films just to have an excuse to put these two on stage together?

Also, Robert Pattinson couldn’t make it, but still got mentioned in Neil Patrick Harris’ opening ballad.

So now that the stars have gained access to the planet’s most exclusive party, all that’s left is to make a Twilight movie worthy of Oscar night…

See costumes and props from Oscar nominees at the Hollywood Museum

If you’re in the neighborhood of the Kodak Theatre and can’t get into the Oscars this weekend, try the next best thing. Drop by the Hollywood Museum one block away – it’s located in the Max Factor Building at 1660 N. Highland Ave., where you can see costumes and artifacts from leading nominees like “The Hurt Locker,” “The Blind Side,” “Inglourious Basterds,” “Julie & Julia,” “The Young Victoria,” “Bright Star,” “(500) Days of Summer” and “Star Trek” mixed in with treasures from Oscars past, like “Gone With the Wind,” “Ben-Hur,” “Gladiator” and even the first film to win best picture, “Wings.”

I serve as guest curator every year to organize this exhibition titled “And the Winner Is …,” which celebrates all films up for kudos throughout the award season. We even feature items from such popular films as “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen,” “Twilight: New Moon” (yes, yes, we have a Taylor Lautner costume in addition ones worn by Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart) and Miley Cyrus’ concert film. Some of them were up for guild awards or even — yikes — Razzies.

No Razzies for ‘The Twilight Saga: New Moon,’ Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner

A couple of weeks ago, the nominees for this year’s satirical Razzie Awards came down and showed The Twilight Saga: New Moon and its cast to be nominated in several categories.

The Razzies – of the Golden Raspberry Award Foundation – are purposed at “saluting the worst that Hollywood has to offer each year.”
The Twilight Saga: New Moon was nominated for several Razzies, including “WORST REMAKE, RIP-OFF or SEQUEL,” “WORST SCREEN COUPLE of 2009″ for “Kristen Stewart & Either Robert Pattinson or Taylor Lautner, Twilight Saga: New Moon,” “WORST SUPPORTING ACTOR OF 2009″ for Robert Pattinson, and “WORST SCREENPLAY OF 2009.”

New Moon, Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner all escaped winning in these categories (one award series that Twilight fans might not be sad to see the franchise lose at), but one person who did win a Razzie was Sandra Bullock (for The Blind Side), and, classy lady that she happens to be, she showed up to accept it herself. SOURCE

RED CARPET EXCLUSIVE: Anna Kendrick says Oscar red carpet is nothing compared to ‘Twilight’

Oscar-nominated actress Anna Kendrick told FoxNews.com where she was when the Academy Award nominations were announced.

“I was actually running. I was too nervous to watch the nominations come up,” said the “Up in the Air” star. “I waited for my roommate to text me and then I sprinted home.”

When she heard she was nominated she “celebrated with a lot of food and champagne – at 5 in the morning, it was still dark out!”

“This film has been a whole different ball game,” said Anna, who also stars in the ‘Twilight’ saga. “It was the only film I’ve done that i was the youngest person on set.”

And it turns out the young star was one of the old pros when it comes to red carpets.
“It’s a little crazy,” she said. “But once you’ve been to a ‘Twighlight’ red carpet, you’re a pro.” SOURCE

Writing the Twilight Saga: An Exclusive Interview with Melissa Rosenberg

The challenge of adapting Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight Saga to the big screen has fallen to writer Melissa Rosenberg, who, by the end of it, will have provided the scripts for each novel. Earths Mightiest editor Edward Gross sat down for a one-on-one interview with Rosenberg, who is also co-executive producer of Dexter.

This interview, which was conducted at the Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles back in November, looks at the making of New Moon, Rosenberg’s collaboration with David Slade on Eclipse and what she feels she’s learned from working with Slade, Chris Weitz and Catherine Hardwicke during the making of these films.

Chris Weitz turns down Twilight Breaking Dawn?

Now that we pretty much know that the final book in the Twilight saga, Breaking Dawn, is being broken into two movies (it’s not been confirmed, but there are few who don’t expect it to happen), arguably the big question remaining is just who Summit Entertainment is going to rope in to direct them.

It’s easy enough to rule out Catherine Hardwicke, who helmed the first movie, as she’s now looking to do The Girl With The Red Riding Hood with Amanda Seyfried (also, it does seem that she and Summit aren’t best of chums). David Slade, who’s putting the finishing touches to Twilight: Eclipse, is not someone Summit appears keen to re-recruit either.

Yet, Chris Weitz, the man who steered the ship on Twilight: New Moon, has been near the top of most people’s list to at least take on one of the Breaking Dawn movies. However, that idea now appears dead, as the director himself has ruled himself out of the running.

“Of course I’m interested,” he told MTV. “But I think I’m on record saying I have a 2-and-a-half-year-old son.”

“Because it’d be such a long shoot for ‘Breaking Dawn’, it kind of brings me to the edge of my physical and mental endurance. And I just don’t believe I have it in me, and I think that it’s appropriate that someone else go ahead and do it.”

Summit’s search, therefore, continues. We’d like it to take the kind of gambles that Warner Bros eventually started taking with its Harry Potter movies, ideally, but given how crucial the Twilight saga is to the fabric of Summit Entertainment, don’t be surprised if it goes for a safe choice.

We wonder what Mr Ratner is doing?

An Evening with Seth Grahame-Smith
Brattle Theatre (40 Brattle Street, Cambridge)
Monday, March 8
6 to 8 pm
$5 tickets from the Harvard Coop

Photobucket

Much as Somerville is the birthplace of the Monster Mash, Seth Grahame-Smith is the pioneer of the Monster Movement in literature. Though the idea of blending monsters and literary classics was first conceived by Jason Rekulak of Quirk Books, Rekulak chose Grahame-Smith to pen the wildly popular Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.

Zombie revolution aside, Grahame-Smith is actually at the Brattle to talk about his latest book: Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter. This psudeobiography paints Lincoln as a battler of the undead in addition to slavery. Not surprisingly, a movie version (by Tim Burton) is already in the works. Horror films inspiring books inspiring books inspiring films: what a delightfully disturbing progression.

KRISTEN STEWART TO APPEAR ON JAY LENO ON MARCH 10

With the press junket getting into full-swing for “The Runaways”, Kristen Stewart will appear on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Wednesday, March 10.  Dakota Fanning will hit the show on Friday, March 12.

CAN KRISTEN STEWART USE “THE RUNAWAYS” TO BECOME A SERIOUS ACTRESS

from latimes.com:

Only one week after her “Twilight” co-star Robert Pattinson will attempt to show off his more serious acting chops in “Remember Me,” Kristen Stewart will also stray from the world of vampires with “The Runaways.”

Surprisingly, it’s not Stewart but Fanning who seems to shine in the film. Fanning is known for her more innocent roles in “I Am Sam” and “The Secret Life of Bees,” but we were surprised by how much we bought Currie’s penchant for hard partying. Stewart, meanwhile, seems to be channeling the persona the public has assigned to her: a surly, rebellious teen who wants to do things her own way.  The question, of course, is whether she has the versatility to pull off roles that go beyond that of the mopey Bella Swan  ingenue in “Twilight” and “New Moon.” Despite the glimmers of possibility she flashed in “Adventureland,” from the bits we’ve see in this trailer, we have our doubts.

KELLAN LUTZ TO APPEAR IN “A MISFITS’ CHRISTMAS”

It has been reported that Kellan Lutz will star in a film called “A Misfits’ Christmas” along with Ashley Tisdale and Brittany Snow.  The film is centered around eight friends celebrating Christmas together.

from movieweb.com:

“[Misfits'] an escalating drama about eight friends who spend consecutive Christmas Eve’s together during their four years of college,” explains writer/director Tabb. “As we drop in on them annually, we watch the characters lose their innocence and form a dysfunctional family with interwoven relationships.

I’ll admit that Melissa Rosenberg’s interviews generally get on my nerves because she didn’t really seem to get which scenes were critical in the first movie, but this one has actually impressed me.  I love her comments on how she and Chris Weitz would have been “tarred and feathered” if they didn’t include the scene where Jacob takes off his shirt to tend to Bella’s head wound when she wipes out on the motorcycle.  It’s interesting to hear her take on working with three different directors on the same series.

As always, I love to see news of other Twilight cast members picking up new roles.  I’m looking forward to seeing Kellan in the “Nightmare on Elm Street” remake.  It will be interesting to see how this movie shapes up.

Rob and Kristen have a lot riding on their performances in “Remember Me” and “The Runaways”.  It seems that too many critics view them as teen heartthrobs and not as actors to take seriously.  I’m pleased to see that Rob has been getting lots of praise for his performance in “Remember Me”.  I hope that Kristen shares the same good fortune.  It bothers me that the author of the LA Times article is basing their assessment on the freakin’ trailer.  It’s not like Kristen lacks talent…unlike some of the bimbos who constantly greet us on magazine covers in the grocery store checkout line.

CHRIS WEITZ WISHES HE COULD CUT THE FROLICKING VAMPIRE SCENE FROM “NEW MOON”

In a recent interview with BuzzSugar, “New Moon” director Chris Weitz dishes on his favorite scene from the film, responding to questions about Rob and Kristen’s relationship, what he wishes that he could have left on the cutting room floor, and questions about the possibility of directing “Breaking Dawn”.

There are lots of different editions of the New Moon DVD. Which bonus features are you particularly excited about?

I’m excited that my voice will finally be heard! For me, the fun thing was doing the commentary with Peter Lambert, my editor, because it kind of re-created the atmosphere in the cutting room. Peter’s a really funny guy, and we were able to delve into not only the behind-the-scenes moments, but to explain why certain things were shot or cut together in certain ways. So that, for me, was the most fun.

When you go back and watch it again, are there things you’d like to change if you could?

I would like to never have shot Rob and Kristen running through the forest and Kristen’s just turned into a vampire. Because everybody always laughs and it makes me feel terrible. [Laughs] I would have shot it a different way so it wouldn’t get that response. But otherwise, I’m very happy with things.

What was your favorite scene to shoot in New Moon?

I’m very fond of the memories that a lot of the scenes invoke in me. My favorite scene is probably somewhere between the very last scene, and the cliffhanger that it’s left on, and the scenes in Italy. Just the experience shooting those scenes was so magnificent. We were in this beautiful hillside town in Tuscany, and going home to fresh-made pasta every night, and surrounded by thousands of fans of the series while we were shooting it. I know I’ll never experience anything like that ever again.

We still don’t know who will be directing Breaking Dawn, but what’s your take on the rumors that it will likely be two movies, possibly in 3D?

3D seems to be the new thing that everything has to be. I think the good thing about 3D is that it can lend tremendous depth to a picture, and really make it extraordinarily lush, visually. And also that it gets people to go out to the theater. Film directors want people to see things in the theater, on the big screen, at least the first time. So that’s a good thing. As for the book being broken up into two films, I think it’s a good idea. There’s so much material in the final book that I think it’s warranted.

How would you direct Breaking Dawn?

Very carefully, because I think that you want to deliver the fans a faithful version of the book that they love. Yes, there’s a lot of extraordinary goings-on. So it’ll have to be done carefully.

BREAKING DAWN RUMORS ARE FALSE

from indyposted.com:

Reports are going wild on the Internet that the final ‘Twilight’ installment will be in two films, according to MTV. The studio is staying quiet and not leaving comments.

The final installment in the ‘Harry Potter’ films will be split into two parts to fit everything in and now ‘Twilight’ fans have suspected for a while that the final ‘Breaking Dawn’ will be the same way.

A representative for Summit Entertainment told MTV last month that “no decision has been made” after Deadline Hollywood ran a story about ‘Breaking Dawn’ being split into two films.

DAVID SLADE’S SCARFDOG PRINTS

from latimes.com:

Fans of David Slade, the acclaimed director of cult hits including the psycho-sexual thriller “Hard Candy” and the graphic novel noirish vampire flick “30 Days of Night,” might be shocked to discover that the man has a sweeter side. While working on his third film, “Twilight 3: Eclipse,” the filmmaker has somehow found the time to fill his Fubear Studios website with intriguing illustrations and downright freaky animated films. He also has learned the art of giclee printing. Among his first available works: a quartet of prints starring Scarfdog and Duck, shown above.

Though they appear to be ideal for kids’ rooms, there is an adult story behind these cheery characters. “Scarfdog loves Duck,” Slade explains in a statement on the back of his signed, limited-edition 8.5-by-11-inch prints. “When Duck passes, she looks straight ahead, not at him. Scarfdog can only dream of a day sometime when his unrequited love is met.”

STEPHENIE MEYER AND J.K. ROWLING WERE ASKED TO CO-PRESENT AN OSCAR?!

As we pointed out in another article, Oscar producers are trying to hit a younger audience and have “Twilight” mega-stars Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner presenting an award at this Sunday’s ceremonies.  According to an article about the show on the L.A. Times website, they also asked Stephenie Meyer and J.K. Rowling to co-present an award.  According to the article, Rowling declined due to scheduling conflicts and Meyer does not work on Sundays, in observance of the Sabbath.

MUSE WILL NOT BE ON “ECLIPSE” SOUNDTRACK

from contactmusic.com:

The British band has contributed songs to the first two Twilight films, and even credited the franchise with introducing their music to a new teen audience.

A third track, which was to be featured in the upcoming Eclipse film, has now been pulled from the soundtrack – but the trio insist they are not angry with Meyer.

Drummer Dominic Howard tells MTV, “It’s nothing to do with Stephenie; she’s totally cool. It’s the people in the movie business, completely outside of the writers and the creative types. The non-creative types, I suppose, are the people who are quite hard to deal with in Hollywood, so it didn’t work out.”

But the group still plans to release the untitled love song.

ROBERT PATTINSON ON “THE DAILY SHOW WITH JON STEWART”

In case you missed it, here’s Rob’s interview with Jon Stewart on “The Daily Show” as he promoted “Remember Me”.  They discussed what it’s like dealing with crowds of screaming fans, the Twilight Saga, among other things.  Enjoy!

I have to agree with Chris on wishing that the “frolicking vampire” scene had been left out of the movie.  It was pretty cheesy.   It’s interesting to note that Chris doesn’t mention Rob, Kristen, or Taylor participating in the audio commentary.  I assumed that they would be a part of it like on the first movie, but maybe not.

David Slade’s pictures are really cute.  They would make a great addition to a kid’s room and the price is quite reasonable.

I think that it’s interesting that they asked Stephenie Meyer and J.K. Rowling to present.  I wonder what their reaction was when she told them that she couldn’t due to her religious beliefs?

I’m bummed that Muse will not be making an appearance on the “Eclipse” soundtrack and I’m sure that Stephenie Meyer is as well.

I absolutely loved Rob’s interview with Jon Stewart!  He seemed very relaxed for this one.
